Sorry SHS1, sorta got off the topic....back to IMAC scores....

I was told SC & Powell were in the same pool. SC had already beaten Powell 12-11 in Pool play. I talked to one of the players & they said everybody that was brought played with mostly JV varsity bench getting majority of the innings. CAK was unbeaten & so was SC. I wasn't there, so this is what I was going on. I agree with you on both having strong teams, I heard Haegan pitched for Powell & is the #2 pitcher, Congrats on both him & Drake! Score was 7-5 or 8-5? On the other note, Austin doing Good! JV this year with good chance for a lot of pt next year! Thanks for asking! Hopefully SC can make it to where SC & Powell can see each other again!

I think they just have the spot tarps, but Seymour's Field drains really well & has been in really good shape this year from what I have heard! 5:30 is what I am thinking also with 6:00 @ SC tomorrow.

From what I was told, the championship game was supposed to be between CAK & SC, CAK left & Powell wanted to play again so SC told them they would play as a scrimmage & played a lot of JV players. Powell doesn't have it posted on their site either...so SC still has 1 loss. Neither considered it a regular game. Game time is supposed to be 5:30 I think. Looks like Seymour had a rough weekend with losses to Bearden & Maryville. This series should be very interesting for District purposes!! A sweep either way puts that team in the driver's seat.

Have the Umps been instructed on what bats to look for? It seems that it would be real easy for an Ump to print the LEGAL COMPS page & keep it with them. They could check once a week for any update to that page. If there was a question, the page has pictures of what is legal, not on the page & says COMP, illegal. All the aluminum BESR bats are legal for this year only, so the COMPS page is all they really need. I know the Umps don't think they get paid enough, but they do get paid. Most are umping because they love the game, right? They should be wanting to help enforce this rule for the integrity of the game, right? Then there should be no excuse for not knowing which bats are legal or illegal. If it is addressed at the pregame level with the coaches & stressed they are looking for the illegal bats, I think this would limit players trying to use them.

Yes, the Easton comp bats do have a BESR stamp. My son had 2 just like the ones that were used last night. The bats were approved originally by BESR standards but after further testing were found to get "hotter" after a lot of use. This is why you were hearing of the term "bat rolling". It all started with Cody Hawn of Tennessee hitting a 500+ bomb on Vandy & Vandy's Coach Corbin brought it to the attention of the NCAA. The comps were ruled illegal for post season play, then after testing, illegal period for college. High School follwed the NFHS standards where the Eastons failed the "new" BESR testing. I am curious why there have been no Umps post a reply yet. Maybe a little early in the post, but I have seen where they jump all over a post about bad calling quickly. To me, if the rule clearly states this on the TSSAA Website, and the ump does not follow the rule, this falls under "bad Umping". I know it is confusing, but the umps should clearly know what TSSAA wants enforced, right?

I attended a High School game tonight that I will not name. The Ump behind the plate was a Seasoned Veteran Ump that Umps A LOT in the Knoxville area. While watching the game, I noticed that 2 players from one team were swinging Easton Comps, one was 2009 Orange barrel/ royal handle & the other was 2010 model Black Barrel/ burnt orange handle. I asked one of the coaches that I knew & he asked the Ump about the bats being legal. The Ump examined the bats the next time thru the order & then told the coach that if they had the BESR Stamp, they were legal & he allowed them to continue using them. The TSSAA website clearly shows that the comps are ILLEGAL & so does the national HS website. The bats did not make a difference in the outcome, but what if they did? What if someone got hurt? Is it not the Umps responsibility to know the Illegal Comps this year, especially since they say clearly on the barrel COMP? If you have rules, then they should be followed for all. The Orange Barrel Comp is a dead give away. Is this rule not being enforced? Has anybody else noticed anything like this?

Sevier Co has added a few to the win column in the Nike Tourney @ OR... SC 12 Powell 11 SC 12 OR 5 SC 13 Anderson Co 1 This is knocking off 2 of the better teams from district 3AAA in Powell & Anderson. It helps bolster the IMAC image! Congrats to Seymour on a good out of conf win against Maryville also! I was on vacation & did not get to see the games, but from what I've been hearing...the bats have been hot from numerous players in the lineup! GO SMOKY BEARS!!!

Sevier Co 17 South Doyle 6

He is doing good! He is on the JV at Maryville. The varsity is Senior & Junior heavy! (only 3 Freshmen dress, catcher Scates fr Bearden, middle infielder fr E Cobb & a pitcher) He suprised many with his power this past fall even with the new bats. He should get a good shot at playing time next year! This is also giving him time to get his academics in order this first year while playing around 12 to 14 games. There was a good write up today on all the county teams!! Jason w/ Mtn Press does a good job with baseball in the county! Cody signed with CN, who is looking at Cory? Any others getting looks? Mo West should be loaded this year! New Coach though. Rough opener for both you & them! Of Course you know I am cheering for the Eagles except against SC! I still have a lot of strong connections at SC!

I know Jerry. Graduated with him at Seymour & played ball with him. He IS the REAL DEAL! If given the chance, he can make things happen. He has always made his own destiny, has not waited for someone to give it to him! He will work hard & expect hard work! To change an attitude at a program, there will be eggs that need to be cracked. If given the chance, he will make CC a competitive program. Don't ask for miracles, just ask to see improvement and you will be more than satisfied! I hold Jerry in High Regard and give him my Best!

I saw Kyle this past fall & was very happy to hear he was going to get a chance to play! Jeff Co will be tough with their new coach also! I have also heard that a surprise in IMAC baseball maybe Cocke Co. We'll have to wait & see! Merry Christmas to all IMAC! It's hard to believe that mine is already out of HS! BLINK and it is over, so enjoy it while you can!!!!

Congrats on Cody signing with CN!! From what I have been hearing, SC should be talented again this year, but young & untested. Replacing Flynn's bat will be tough & finding a shutdown pitcher will be also. Gavy, Sisk & Watson all have the capability to handle the mound duties while I look at SC playing a lot more small ball this year. Should be strong defensively & Silva's bat has some pop. Question is can they continue to play as a team with losing the leaders they lost last year. Should be a interesting season especially with the new coaches in the conference! Go Smoky Bears!!

I don't have a knox news signon, but it was on the front page at the bottom yesterday in the News Sentinel.

Just curious what everyone's opinion is on this. I am not for it. The article is in the Knox News Sentinel today. This is just another way to have someone else come in & take money from the schools. It will also cause the price of merchandise to skyrocket due to the extra fees involved. The parents are already paying a lot for their student athletes to play, now supporting them goes up. I think examples of the fees is how much the UT merchandise costs. As you can see, I am not for this. What's your opinion?

This is a message board to be able to post opinions just as you have done your self. I am a true fan to the REd Devils myself and have been for Many, Many, Many years and I hate seeing them going through what they have gone through. I am first for the young men on the field and commend them for working hard to try to get a win. Its hard to sit back and watch these kids go through a losing season. You commented on out "situation at Halls" so I guess you are not a true Red Devils fan, but we have seen the losing seasons go down when they should have been coming up. I don't think TW (HHS) is the man for the OC job, never have. THAT IS MY OPINION! I am allowed to have that opinion and post if need be. Just as you have posted your opinions yourself and your opinion to my comment. As far as your name telling who you are, all i see is Solo-mon 2. If you looked at my screen shot, I am from Seymour, but my son graduated from Sevier Co last year, Solomon is my last name. No, I am far from a Red Devil, Eagle growing up then Smoky Bear now, but I have known Teddy for quite a few years now and consider him as one of my Best Friends! As for everyone's opinion, as I stated before when they are made public & drag names into them, especially when they are not involved, it causes problems and hurts people's feelings. Teddy did not asked to be dragged into this discussion. When people blast the coaches on here, kids are reading these (I know quite a few players that have & have had signons here) and they start blasting...it all snowballs into a big mess. It also lets everyone OUTSIDE of HALLS see that there are a lot more problems going on at Halls other than coaching. I was sticking up for Teddy is the only reason I have posted here. I'll leave you & all the TRUE Red Devils alone. Not wanting to get any deeping in this mess!

If it was so "Well put", why in a previous post (Just before this one) did you take a shot at Teddy?!?! LEAVE THE OTHERS OUT! This is the type of thing & posts in public that really gives the programs their BLACK EYES and HURT Feelings! I am referring to seeing what all you have to say about the team and others that are not even involved! Everyone has their OWN opinion, but when you start going public with them, it usually stirs up trouble. I don't know your situations at Halls, but what I have found is the ones doing the most talking are usually the ones that are doing the least or almost nothing to help the team! I was Booster Pres for our Baseball team & saw it all too often. Some of the posters on this topic are true Red Devils, even I can see that, but some are just making things worse! I like CoachT for the most part, but things like this lead me to say that CoachT is no place to publish your thoughts for the ENTIRE PUBLIC to view. Take care of things "In House", at Booster Meetings, Team Meetings, & parent conferences. This is the thing that I do not like about CoachT, it gives a person a way to voice their opinion & hide. (My screen name says who I am) Good Luck to the Red Devils the rest of the way! I hope you find answers to your problems!

I feel for the Red Devils! Nobody wants to see their years go out this way especially the seniors! As for starting to talk about some of the coaches in your area like this, I feel it needs to stop. I don't have a dog in the fight when it comes to talking about Halls, BUT I am GOOD Friends with Teddy Williams! Any body that puts the time & effort he does in a youth football program WITHOUT having a tie to the team, like a son or family member, should be THANKED and not picked at like above. I think Teddy would do a good job coaching HS, BUT he has a job. Coaching is something he does as a way to connect to the kids & future of HALLS. When the youth program almost ran him out a few years back, he STAYED LOYAL to Halls and came back when they came to their senses! He is a rare find for ANY youth program!!! How many of you would love to have a coach for any sport that is not tied to anyone on the team? This is what most parents hope for so there would be no favoritism! Please leave these coaches out of your discussions. I know Teddy is GOOD Friends with Coach Julian also.

bump Any more news on this? When is a decision going to be made? I have heard many different interpretations. It would be nice if TSSAA would post something on their web page!

Congrats to the Patriots! I did not get to go to the game, but I listened to it on the radio. It sounded like you all really dominated us up front! The early tough schedule will definitely help you in the long run! It appears the questions the Smoky Bears had going into the season hit us in the face Friday Night! It sounded like an exciting game, I wish I was there even though we got beat! I wish JC the Best of Luck the rest of the year! We now have to regroup for DB! Go Smoky Bears!
