  1. Okay, I am hearing that Cherokee knocked off Jeff Co last night....Is that right?
  2. SHS1, Is Corbin okay? We heard about Sat against WB. Our thoughts & prayers go out to him & you all! We heard he walked off but was knocked out.
  3. 3/30 Sevier Co 14 Mo East 4 6 innings
  4. 3/29 Mo East 8 SC 7 11 innings
  5. Big series Mon & Tues between Sevier Co & Mo East in the IMAC. It does look like the IMAC is going to be very competitive! So far Mo East, Seymour, South Doyle & Jeff Co have been splitting with each other. Halls looks like they are on a roll! Bats seem to be really HOT right now. Farragut is good, don't get me wrong, but I personally don't think they are as good as they were last year. They do not have the depth that they normally have. I think you are already seeing the presence of Hardin Valley pulling quality players away from Farragut. Maryville looks like they are clicking right now! You can say that Farragut used all there pitching over the weekend, but that is no excuse for only scoring 1 run. Congrats to Caleb Moore for keeping them off balance! It seems that every district is going to be tighter this year! For all those underclassmen out there and their parents, don't take any game or at bat for granted! Before you know it, you'll be a senior & the time will fly by! (My son is a senior)
  6. Flynn just has 4 HRs on the season so far. He hit 2 at the playday that don't count. He is hitting .607 though!
  7. We have been dealing with choice of college this year also. We have been told that May 1 is the first day that a student officially signs to accept his awards. We are dealing with mainly merit awards, but all that is signed prior to May is the letter of intent, right? I would not think a school would pull an offer on the table for athletics based on performance for this one season, but they will change a merit offer if the student slacks up in the classroom. The schools we have been dealing with are wanting current transcripts with the spring schedule and interim reports where available. I see where it could happen. Also, all the schools have said that the awards offer is good up to May 1, after that, they could hand it out to someone else. They have asked for us to send a deposit to hold the money they have offered. If we decide to go elsewhere, we can be refunded as long as we notify them by May 1. As you can see May 1 is a BIG day!
  8. 3/23 Sevier Co 11 Cocke Co 0
  9. CAK played a solid game against us, SC. You can definitely see Pharr's influence already! I did not realize that he brought at least one assistant coach with him. CAK should be a team to deal with in their division this year! I know with us, along with the other teams, we were out of pitching in the last game! I personally am glad that they cancelled the Sunday games. I don't know if we would have made it with a 3-1 record, but we did not have a pitcher left. We have district games Mon & Tues and we used all pitchers this weekend. We had a few underclassmen get quite a few innings and very valuable experience! Wasn't it great weather and great to be at the baseball field!?!
  10. Coach Lance Traywick has been at SC for 4 years with this year being 5. The seniors from last year set the school record for most career wins along with last years team setting the season school record with 22 wins. Coach Traywick came from Pigeon Forge where he was an assistant under Coach Cannon. Traywick has changed the attitude at SC along with the expectations. SC does have a baseball program, and we are pretty good! We expect to compete and even win. This is coming after the SC baseball program had some very bad years early in the decade before Traywick. One thing he demands is dedication. With this being said, this is one of his best traits, dedication. Coach AC Willis has been with him since day one. He deserves just as much credit for the success of the Program! Rabbit....You have your opinion, and I respect that. Only time will tell just how good all the teams in East TN really are. Everyone needs to have Good Luck from time to time. I wish all teams good luck and a injury free season! I love watching a Good Close HS ballgame! Nothing like it!

When the Sevier Co School Board first instituted this rule, we (SC) were starting the season 2 years ago. As you know MI Kees, district 4AAA plays Mon Wed games, & we already had schedules made & were starting to play. The Board wanted us to forfeit all Wed games, which was half our district games. Don't get me wrong, I am a Christian! You can say every night is Church night. There are so many things that you can do every night of the week with church activities. My son is very active in the youth which meets on Mondays. The board did allow us to play District only games the past 2 years. This year we don't have that problem. Some of our team was at the field Sunday, not practicing, but fellowship and giving a hand to some volunteers helping do some work on the field between 1 to 5pm. Our Principal showed up to make sure we were not practicing b/c Superintendant Parton had drove by and saw cars there. We are watched very closely!
  12. Sevier Co 7 Cherokee 1
  13. SHS1 I guess the others didn't read your topic heading......IMAC Sevier Co 4 Cherokee 0 I also heard Mo East 8 Jeff Co 1
  14. If they were on pitch count, it was a high pitch count. There were very few QUICK innings and I kept the books, lots of pitches thrown. Flynn is the real deal! He was a "no-name" All State selection last year. Everyone in 4AAA definitely knows who he is! Hopefully some bigger colleges will start taking notice!
  15. Just a thought... CC is very muched improved over last year! They have a good lefty that mixes it up well. Knox West has at least 2 solid starting pitchers. Very solid ball club! I do have a question though, CC threw the same pitcher all 5 innings in the 2 games I saw, so did Knox West. We, SC, threw 6 different pitchers to get mound time & experience. Don't you think it is a little too early to be throwing 80-100 pitches especially when this does not count? Also, is this all you all have? Is that why no one else threw? We are trying to set a rotation and still have question marks who will pitch where & when. I just don't understand the logic behind throwing this many pitches this early. CC has come a long way since last year! They did not make an error against us, and take away 1 bad inning against West and they were right there! Good Luck to both West & CC this year!

SC beat Fulton 7-0, lost to Campbell Co 2-1, then beat Knox West 2-0. Our bats were not awake for the most part Sat. except for Zach Flynn's first 3 ABs, 3-3 2 HRs and 7 RBIs over 2 games. Pitching look pretty good. 2 runs against were both unearned. We had 4 errors against CC, and CC has a good lefty that should keep them in a lot of games. CC was very muched improved over last year, they didn't make an error against us. They lost to Knox West 4-1 in the first game. Fulton is going to struggle. Knox West very solid team with at least 2 good pitchers that I saw Sat. The thing that I don't understand though is the thinking of some of these coaches. We pitched 2 different pitchers per game, 3 innings & 2 innings. CC thew their guy the whole 5 innings & so did Knox West, (they also both threw the same pitcher all 5 against each other). In my opinion, WAY too early to be throwing 80 to 100 pitches. We are looking to get everyone experience on the mound, mainly because we haven't set our rotation yet, 6 pitchers saw the mound Sat. I would think that is what these others teams are trying to do too! See what they have. Yes we want to win, but the REAL games don't start till next week! Great day to be on the diamond! Hope the weather holds for a while! We go to Farragut Wed for our last scrimmage.
  17. Junkman00 just remember before you make a statement best AAA team in SC that SC SWEPT Seymour last year 9-2 & 24-23. Seymour is good, I agree, but SC is just as good.

SHS1, I agree, the top few teams will probably have 3 to 4 losses in district. I just wish we could hear from Mo West & Mo East. We are also hearing some positives about Cherokee & Cocke Co with the new coaches. Have you guys played any yet? I know most of the posters on this thread so far, and I think we mutually respect each other and their opinions. We are the new guys in the IMAC, SC, Seymour & SD. I would just like to hear what each team is looking like so far. SC still needs to find consistent pitching. We have a strong offense and good defense. If we have a couple of pitchers develop, we could be really strong this year. We have looked pretty good against Catholic & Bearden so far.
  19. Glad to hear Below will be back for Powell! 17 year olds sometimes don't always realize how their decisions impact their future. He has signed with Walters State, right? Wish him the BEST! I apologize to the Science Hill group. I have heard a lot of good things about your lefty Norris! I am sure Science Hill will be strong also! Don't know a lot about the Upper East TN Teams. I think Gibbs will go a long way into State, as I said. Seymour will be Seymour, always a very tough game for ANYONE! SHS1 I agree with dropping the score down from last year, no one should have lost that game! I don't know about making the IMAC one of the top districts though. There are a lot of districts that have 2 or 3 good teams. Don't know much about Mo East & Mo West but I have heard they have a couple of good arms each. They could be very good this year. I don't know about everyone else, but I am ready for 60 degree weather and High School Baseball!
  20. 3AAA should be between Powell & Halls. Halls looks like they should have strong pitching returning. What about the catcher position for both? I heard Beelow for Powell was suspended for grades, and who is Halls going to have behind the dish?
  21. I agree with Farragut & Powell. I know Gibbs returns their strong pitching, and in AA should go far into the State Tourney this year. Seymour is always good, but remember they have jumped to AAA this year, could be a factor. One left off is Sevier Co. This should be one of the better SC Teams in school history and should make some noise in the IMAC. Broke school record in wins last year, has one of the best hitters in the area in Zach Flynn and will have 5 senior starters that have all played since they were Freshman. We have already scrimmaged Catholic & Bearden beating both. We did not face eithers ace, but we faced their best hitters & everyone else on their pitching staff. I am pretty sure Catholic & Bearden would agree with me on this.
  22. Sevier Co scrimmaged Catholic 2/20 and beat them 9-6 Sevier Co also scrimmaged Bearden this past Sat 2/27 and swept 3 5 inn games, 9-6, 5-3 & 6-1 SC has one of the BEST hitters in the area in Zach Flynn, he has already hit 4 HRS in these 2 scrimmages. Key will be our pitching, strength will be our offense & leadership with 5 Senior starters, all of which have played since their Freshman year.
  23. Sevier Co has been told we are going to Campbell Co, not West for the playday. Teams the same, but schedule is different due to the drive.

Sorry, sounds like you would be! Read what I said, our coacht SITE! Also, it seems no one really wants to discuss their teams other than you & me. I guess we'll just wait & see in a little over a month! Last post here.
