Oh good grief!

Our buddy on the hill behind you knows how to get in touch with me. I know there's some things id like to see done this summer. My pap had mike sr in school and taught with him a few years....thinks a lot of him.

I just asked my dad what all was going on with this and he summed it up perfectly.... it will never happen. Everybody despises Unaka, Happy Valley and Elizabethton think they are better than anyone else and nobody is good enough to consolidate with them. Cloundland and Hampton get along best of all and they only hate each other. The ol' man is wiser beyond his 68 years....

I've put some thought into this today. I can see some good and bad. The county is basically broke after buidling the Taj MaJail. Consolidation across the county may be required for finacial security. I'm no accountant however. Tough decision..

with the new Gap Creek Bypass being built... why not find a spot on the new road and build a new high school. Consolidate Hampton, Cloudland and Happey Valley. No one in their right mind would want to join with Elizabethton or the creekers.

Some things just make you scratch your head and go "huh". Have they thought about the additional cost of bussing to RM kids to Hampton? Will it be Hampton or a new high school in between? Any time frame been set if it goes through? Sorry, these are probably questions ya'll have no answers to. Just curious more than anything. In your honest opinion.... what would be the pros and cons?

I'm not close enough to either situation to say good or bad. I do read enough of Coach T to respect Ukonit, Pujo, 91Lander, The king, BlueandGold's opinions. I will say I hope whatever is decided is the best decision for the education of the kids. Athletics are great but education should be the deciding factor. However, if it does happen...... the school will have some unreal teams.

Sorry guys... My info actually came from one of the kids on the team. Kid actually went so far as to tell me they had a meeting and met the guy. My bad.. I was wrong.

All I can say is that Coach Dooley ain't the only one that likes to go to Georgia to fill spots........

Wow, just wow. With all thats going on at Cloudland and what i just found out about the ehs job...... Wow, just wow. A lot of people should be ashamed of theirselves for not putting the kids first. Agendas...... Wow, just wow.

Was told last night that a new coach will be announced tomorrow. From what I hear it's someone from out of state. Hope the poor guy knows what he's signed up for...........

Going to take someone special to succeed at ol' Betsy. To much politics and to much concern about trying to keep up with Science Hill. Anybody with sense would stay away from that place.

This has turned into a SNAFU for the boys team. 3rd coach in 4 years. This will go down as the all-time waste of talent at Elizabethton. The administration needs to keep their noses out of it (some people know what I'm talking about) and let whoever it is COACH. Every kid dreams of playing in the "league". Mommy and Daddy's need to keep their noses out of it (some people know what I'm talking about) also and let whoever it is COACH. Here's a noval idea, the people dictating how things are to be done.... How about making them COACH. The Simpson kid won't be back. I think he is going to concentrate on track and field. Kid has a legitimate shot at a scholarship there. Mr. Baughman needs to take his talented kid back to Hampton (absolutely great young man BTW) and maybe the Wagner kid's (another great young man) Uncle needs to talk to him about Hampton also. These kids deserve more and better. Most (if not all) will not have a future in basketball. BUT they have dedicated loads of their time, energy and sweat in playing a game they love. It's time to think about what's best for them. May be to late for the Seniors though.

Checked back on this last night. Supossed kid is from the Tampa, Fl area. 6'4ish 280ish. Will be attending Elizabethton. No truth to it that he met with Coach Whitten and did not like him.... actually just the opposite. Suppose to be a D1 prospect.

uKnOiT2: I heard a rumor there's some help on the way? Maybe an alumni's son from across the state line??? Also heard the there's a transfer coming that had planned on going to another school but met the coach, didn't take a liking to him at all and was given advice to give Mr. Lunsford a call. Supposedly a BIG time player? Mr. uKnOiT2... can you confirm or deny???

Been reading all the doom and gloom about the dogs..... are y'all watching the same team I saw last night?? Those kids never quit! Played hard all 4 quarters. Just got beat by a better team. I was impressed with them. If ol' Ned could find another guard, they'd make some noise in the tournament. Elizabethton: shows what a good coach can do for a talented team. They've got the size and talent underneath but they have no guards. Wadell is a shooter... tough as nails. Pressure them the whole game and they'll have 12-15 turnovers. May be the only thing that holds them back from the 'Boro.

The players that do not want to win and work hard are the ones going to quit. I've known Coach Dugger for a long time. He's a da** good coach and even better man. Elizabethton has a ton of talent and should be in every game they play. There's no reason why they should get beat by 20+ to Erwin and Science Hill. I know several of these kids real well. They're great kids. They just have one problem.... they are 16/17 year old kids who think they know more about basketball (and life) than the adult leading them. All they want to do is jack up 3's and play half-a** defense. If they listen to Coach Dugger they will be successful. Back to back trips to the state tournament are not out of the question now. As for the ones that want to quit...... good ridance. Let them go home and have mommy and daddy tell them how great they are. You don't need those types on a team. I've heard 3 names mentioned that said they were quitting.... take your lazy butts home if you want everything handed to you and don't want to work hard. I'm sure with this attitude you'll be real successful in life also. Gordan's a good man. He needed tighter reigns on these kids.

uknoit2... I made it up to the Dawg Pound tonight. I was impressed with your dawgs. Played hard and played pretty good. If they'd scored in the first 4-5 minutes (had several easy shots not fall) they'd probably had a 8-10 point lead in the first half. Ned get's the most out of what he has. Tressler is an athlete. Played good against the bigger guys. I'd take him any day. Murray could come along nicely. A little experience will do him good. McClain scored a lot but I wasn't impressed. He just stops and throws crap up. Elizabethton passes the eye test don't they!! But what a waste... I don't understand Gordan's coaching at all. These kids could make some noise with the right leader.

Watched the Betsy/Hampton game last night. I was hoping I was wrong but Elizabethton is not as good as advertised. No guards... put some pressure on them and they fold like a cheap lawn chair. Murray is a player. For some reason, Gordan has decided to keep his 2 best post players (Wagner and Simpson)on the bench. No inside game with his lineup. What a waste of talent.

RE: Wagner... I'd heard he was measured at the Clemson camp at 6'-9 1/2". He actually missed most of his freshman year with a knee and shoulder injury (tried to play football). Both required surgery. Last year he had a tumor removed from his elbow. So he's actually a couple years behind. He played alot of summer ball this year and improved a ton. When he spreads his arms out he looks like a 747 taking off. But somebody needs to get that boy and tell him he's not a 3-point shooter. Back to the basket and in the paint. At 6'8/6'9.. he could dominate East Tennessee. I thought Betsy would be pretty dern good this year but they're not. Very disappointed. I watched them play this weekend at Johnson County and they got their butts spanked by Bearden and Science Hill. Gordon better come thru this year or he'll be gone. Dugger would have them in the Boro this year and next year.
