    All state

TSSAA will anonce all state teams near the end of July or first of August
  2. Well sad as it is to say, a seven year run is over. I have had the pleasure of having a girl play for Jefferson County High School for the last seven years. Last night Daniel Boone proved to be our enigma once again. With that loss my CoachT days are in the past. This forum has proved to be informative and entertaining to say the least. I would like to take this moment to congradulate all the ladies in thier efforts to be the best and wish them nothing but the success. To the Lady Patriots, you will forever live in my heart. the last twenty years of my life have been dedicated to this sport and these girls, with one of our first goals being "to make the JCHS softball team". With things coming to a close on our seniors last year all that is left to say is.................."Kudos to CoachT" and may you continue to supply the much needed support and information for high school sports for years to come..
  3. Very good match ups everywhere this evening. I think this may be the tightest talent poole starting at the region level I have seen in years, maybe ever. Good luck to all the girls tonight!!!! Most intriguing for me tonight. Rematch of last years Daniel Boone, Jeff Co. round 1 war. Jeff Co lost last year to eventual AAA state runner up Boone off of home run 2-0.

  7. Got my fingers crossed, we win tonight or we r done
  8. they will all be very good games, just feel from what ive seen that WV and Coffe are playing the best right now. Only an opinion thats why they put the cleats on.
  9. Walker valley and Coffe County, both have played solid this year and will benefit from Soddy being down. Cookeville could have a say so before its all over, though i dont think that will happen

For information purposes, did you clock Hill from Jeff Co. She was clocked at 58 a year ago at the Gibbs tourney. She throws about three different speeds during a game and that is when she is only throwing her hard stuff. I have seen her just let one go and it is very apparent it is harder than other stuff. By the way she did sign with Walters State this past week. just wondering if you had clocked her. thanks
  11. Randi Hill - Jefferson County (pitcher) - Walters State

Very interesting approach........... ...I dont care how fast you throw......you can catch up to speed.......junk ballers do just as well if not better in college........just ask UT in the college world series a few years ago when they had Abbott that could hit 70 mph and Arizona threw thier junk baller throwing maybe 60 and most of the time in the high 40s with off speed.................I know there are differances in competition levels, but if you want to know a true pitchers quality lets start hearing some ERAs..........
  13. Travel ball only? Simple question..........how many college coaches do you see at high school games?, but the kid has to play in high traffic events only....ie high profile college exposure tournaments. the problem the kid is now on a stage with only the best. Picking a kid out of that prospective talent is almost immpossible. He/She has to be a complete standout to be found in that talent poole. Ask any BIG college coach and they will tell you straight forward they do not recruit from high school onlly travel ball. grades are what is important in high school. High GPA and ACT scores are what they look at after they have found the talent. For my two cents, i think high school ball is invaluable for the athlete. First of all for the comradere and development of team values. You dont get that in the higher leveel of travel ball because they usually dont evven know each other. Its a decision you as a family have to make. Is she at the top of the game both academically and athletically? If so travel ball is the way. If not (not that she isnt good, but is she the best) I suggest a mix. Good talent will shine, at any level.

Has talked to Walters State but no pen and paper yet. Size has been her issue. 5' 2" 114 lb. Have seen college coaches walk up and see her only to leave without watching her pitch. Third lowest ERA in the state last year (.726) and flirting with 1.0 this season against pretty stout schedule. Throws high 50's low 60's, but that is not her game. Location and movement are her strong points. 9 shut outs only gave up one to Seymour and Riverdale both on bloop hits just over the infield. Low walk to strike out count. I think she has 13 walks so far this season, has hit a few this year though trying to bust the inside. Not a big strikeout pitcher, averaging between 6 and 7 per game this year, but keeps the ball in the infield with a lot of pop ups and soft grounders. Doesnt get hit hard much. Three HRs last season and currently has given 3 this year. To sum it up, nothing phases her,If you want a pitcher that will keep you in the game mentally and physically, she is the one you want on the mound. Gives her offense a chance to win every game with very few exceptions.
  16. I think Gibbs may have something to say in AA. They are playing well and in my humble opinion, better than they were last year. AAA is a toss up who will make it. I think the only two I can see as shoe ins to make the fling is Ravenwood and Smyrna (gotta finish off Riverdale). Upper east Tennesse (dist 1 and 2) will be well represented this year but who knows who it will be. Teams battling it out for a spot should include. Seymour, Daniel Boone, Science Hill, Jefferson County, Knox Halls, Farragut, and Maryville. Hate to exclude Soddy, but they have a rough row to hoe. They have done it before though. Should be some very interesting games over the next couple of weeks. A lot broken dreams for very talented young ladies. I predict one the most contested tournaments TN has seen on a long time just to get to the boro'

Hill at JCHS throws perfect game against Cherokee and gave up only 1 to Riverdale in the bottom of the seventh with two outs on a single and two bloops. 9 shut outs so far. Top five is impossible to say, but the girls that are being mentioned should be considered top of the Tennessee game.
  18. Jefferson Co. 11 Cleveland 0

Have to consider two pitchers from Region 1 District 2. Carly lewis from Seymour. Good speed and smart pitching (shut out Soddy this weekend). Randi Hill from Jefferson County. Hill finished the 2012 season with a .726 ERA (third lowest in state right after Nunley .45 and the girl from Coaldfiled .53), a 174 to 12 stike out to walk ratio. Currently has .81 ERA for 2013 season.
  22. The ones griping about this Coaches association are probably the same ones that grip how girls sports never get the same treatment as the boys. The TBCA has been established for years setting up cross state all-star tournaments, scholarships, team ranking, and player stats thus the giving the boys more college exsposure. I say its about time we had a coaches association for softball. Have you seen the college coaches that have already signed up to this high school site. Our high school has NOT signed up for this site but I am encouraging them to do so. If you feel your team has been left out, tell your high school coach to check it out. The final rankings will be settled on the field anyway. Of course these rankings are skewed because a lot of the contenders are not part of the association yet. Few teams listed in the top ten will be there in the end but thats not wha tthis poll is about. It is about ranking association member teams.
