  1. I don't think anything should be done. It brings out the best in the players. Don't get me wrong, it stinks being on the outside lookin' in, but that's life, man. It really maximizes the level of competition when you know a few losses could end your post-season aspirations.

  2. I don't think it has anything to do with segregation. Players will line Vanderbilt up to proven programs such as Alabama, Georgia, Tennessee, Flordia, and others. Players want to win.

On an unrelated note, wouldn't it be something if Sonny pulled duo-sports AGAIN?

"Sonny Gray hits the reciever in the end-zone, touchdown Commodores!"

    Well, that was fun.

  3. Excuses are always an option as well, so lets here some more of last seasons 9-7L at the hands of Smyrna?

Or why LaVergne (Who didn't make the play-offs) gave Riverdale ALL it could handle without there starting QB in the end.

Cant wait to see Riverdale drop one to Wilson Central this Friday night, but it wont matter, the excuses will be coming more than Riverdales turnovers. /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" />

Oh and if your gonna sit here and bring up Riverdale's 'rich tradition of winning.' When it comes to play-offs it doesn't matter.

You can go ask any WC players during the game if they care about those 3 or 4 gold balls Riverdale has /wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink.gif" />

Well to get technical La Vergne didn't have their starting QB their entire match-up, but did have a potential starting quarterback in Ryan Williams.

And maybe we should wait a week before talking about Round 3 of the playoffs. Seems kind of silly doesn't it?

  4. Davidbaxter is such a funny little kid.

Anyway, the game should be close. LaVergne has nothing to lose and I expect them to come out and play their hearts out. Heck, a point or two here and there and this could have been for the region.

But of course after this game I'm pullin' for Riverdale. After this game. /happy.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="^_^" border="0" alt="happy.gif" />

  5. Did LaVergne not take their student section to this one?

A good chunk of them went to see Saw IV.

It was a great game, both teams had an excellent effort. I think LaVergne did well considering Tillery and Ukwu were out.

Oh...and Chris Gray. I would pay $6 just to watch this guy catch footballs. He's amazing.

Oh, and some 13-year-old kept coming over to the LaVergne side talking crap ALL GAME. Around the middle of the third quarter when he wouldn't stop, one of our seniors called him over and jumped over the fence, took his bell he was ringing, smashed and stomped it, and through it across the track.

    Man, what a great night.

  6. The Smyrna band directly caused TWO penalties on LaVergne's final drive adding TEN yards to the field goal attempt. Say what you want about the band, but don't get your panties all riled up because Smyrna's band actually plays in the stands instead of maybe banging on some drums.

Did I say anything about the final drive, or the outcome of the game?

There's a difference between playing during the game and playing whilst a player is down on the field in pain.

  7. I saw Tillery on crutches yesterday (passing through the cafeteria, ironically, apparently that's the place to go when I need injury updates). Today I saw him walk by me pretty fast today, no crutches.

Hopefully he can play Friday night, he's such an athlete and it's a blow to the offense without him.

  8. REGION 25A IS BY FAR THE TOUGHEST IN THE STATE. FIRST OF ALL WE HAVE THE BEST RUNNING BACKS ( BRIAN MARSHALL, ANDRE STRERLING, JARED STEHENS) AND LEGENDARY COACHES LIKE BENNY MONROE AND TOM WEATHERS. ID LOVE FOR YOU TO NAME TWO BETTER COACHES THAN THOSE TWO IN THE SAME REGION. TO GIVE YOU AND EXAMPLE OF OUR LEVEL OF PLAY IF MCMINN LOSES TO WILLIAM BLOUNT THEY COULD FINISH THE SEASON AT 7-3 AND NOT EVEN MAKE THE PLAYOFFS. NOW NAME ANOTHER REGION EVEN HALF THAT TOUGH!!!!!

    ..4-5A.

    Riverdale: 8-0, 5-0

    Smyrna: 6-2. 4-1

    Wilson Central: 7-1, 4-1

    LaVergne: 5-3, 2-3

    Siegel: 5-3, 2-3

    Someone's not getting in.

edit: For the sake of the argument, LaVergne's losses have come by the hands of seven points...total.

  9. It's heart-breaking to think that these guys could be out of playoff contention due to 7 points, and two losses due to late winning-field goal misses.

Both teams played in amazing came.

And that corner-catch from Chris Gray for a touchdown...oh my goodness. That's got to be one of the best catches I've seen this year.

edit: Actually, all three of LaVergne's losses have involved last-second field goals.

    It's a funny game, football.

  10. THis is news I have just got and it was from a pretty reliable source... I heard #13 the DE broke his hand last week and will be out up to 6 wks... heard he has to have surgery... this true?? if so this is going to be a big blow for there defense because this is probably there best defensive player...

Collins Ukwu? I saw him walking in the cafeteria and I saw his finger was wrapped up, I don't think it was his hand, not sure when he'll return either.

  11. I was actually skeptical about that unsportsmanlike conduct. I was under the impression that it was unnecessary roughness, in which case it DEFINITELY looked the other way.

I've gotta' give Siegel their props. I honestly can't tell you what happened - they played great. They shut off Randall (which is very hard to do) although I don't think he got that many touches. LaVergne could not stop the run at all. There was one play where the receiver had about two steps on the DB although it was just under-thrown ever-so-slightly.

Hmm. It could be a make or break against Smyrna, depending on how these final three play out.
