  1. Never said anything about Sequoyah...not going to let that 411 go, are we? lol
  2. Polk County will not finish as top dog in 5AA this year.
  3. They played as if they were young but they have 17 starters returning! I really feel, that they just didn't have the right folks in the right positions...they have the size, speed and talent...just not in the right position. #17 is playing in the right spot on offense and defense, but if the QB cant run offense any better, #17 maybe heading back to that position. I think they were in a 3-3-5 (maybe), hard to tell, they looked confused at times. But I did hear Mullinax after the jamboree, I'll just say that practice should be intense this week.
  4. I also agree, great atmosphere! Next years jamboree will be at Sweetwater High School (I think). Ok Charlie, I didn't say anything about Polk, simply because they are the same every year, lol, Polk is just Polk. Think the whole stadium was SHOCKED with the first play pass, Miller looks primed for the season, right guard is big and strong. Playing Tellico, just couldn't get a good feel for Polk.
  5. Gotta a feeling there will be a few of these statements.
  6. Heres your chance for some bold predictions for the up and coming season...thoughts?
  7. I think the Bears had a couple of starters out (Reno and Carter) trying to get them healthy. Even though the Chiefs looked good, there were still mistakes made in which will be corrected this week.
  8. Chattanooga Central - 14 Meigs County - 0 Polk County - 14 Tellico Plains - 6 McMinn Central - 14 Sweetwater - 0 Sequoyah - 14 McMinn Central - 0 (please correct the scores if im wrong) I had a tough time trying to figure out teams, Meigs skilled folks looked descent, but the o-line needs work. Rumors about some Sweetwater players getting in trouble before the game and they did not play, so the jury is still out on them. Also understand the Chargers had up to 4 lineman not playing? Tellico still got some issues to work on. Chattanooga Central, good team speed, which is good, but need work on the o-line, defense was solid. any other thoughts?
  9. Chat Central - 14 Meigs - 0 Polk - 14 Tellico - 6 McMinn Central - 14 Sweetwater - 0 Sequoyah - 14 McMinn Central - 0
  10. I really thought they were descent last year, really big and physical. I'm pulling for you guys this year.
  11. IMO, this is not the same teams we have seen in the past, but I will agree with #1, 1. Alcoa 2. Catholic 3. CAK 4. Scott 5. Kingston but hey, I'm not to smart!
  12. I'll agree with ron, just think McMinn Central and Sweetwater will end in a deadlock. Really think they are even. And yes, more than likely nobody will show much. Looking forward to the Big Man Challenge (40 yards race, but must be over a certain weight limit).
  13. Just read the Bears have 17 starters returning!
  14. OK Tigers, you guys gotta make the playoffs this year, hoping for a little payback! lol Get those boys healed!
  15. This game will tell us very quickly which team has the "team" attitude. Had the opportunity to watch the Cherokees compete, they new what to expect from each other and really did a good job of "supporting" each other when things didn't go as planned. I have not had a opportunity to see the Wildcats, but have spoke with some folks and they seemed to worried about the whole "me" attitude and they did not get the results they were looking for out of the scrimmages. With the loss of the coach, I thought they may be behind a bit. May take a couple of games for the Wildcats to get were they need. I think the Cherokees get a win in a barn burner!
  16. I've heard that McMinn Central plays twice, third quarter versus Sequoyah and fourth quarter versus Chattanooga Central. So that leaves Sweetwater, Meigs, Polk and Tellico.
  17. Score wise Webb came out on top 3-2. The Kelly kid is all that and they may have the best gaurds in the state of Tennessee, well coached and fast! One of the hardest hitting "practices" I've ever seen.
  18. Hey Jet, that's a million dollar question, from my understanding it was Sweetwater that wanted out, which makes no sense to me. They had first game of the year, just a huge money game for both schools and most of the time it was a win for the Wildcats, a decent tune up game. But hey, Sweetwater's loss is Sequoyah's gain. The Chiefs were very happy to get the game. County rival games make for a great atmosphere. Not sure why... On another note, heard rumor yesterday that the Bears may have had a significant injury in practice involving a impact player. Can anyone from the Plains confirm?
  19. Think the focus has been "fitting the pieces together" this week. You know correcting the little things. I'll be watching for the defense to shine today, granted the haven't played bad, just a couple of corrections. Offensively, "points, points, points", keep the offense rolling, no mistakes.
  20. This game is very interesting, could come down to who has the ball last. I know a little about both and I am going with the Cherokees at home with the triple option, tough to defend.
  21. OK, I respect the pick, we have been looking for folks who might be able to inform us on the Bears. Im guessing Mullinax is still running his offense (same as last year), very similar to Webb High School (defending state champs). I haven't heard about any scrimmages from the bears, is it possible to elaborate whats happening on the mountain?
  22. I think your on target with that pick, the Bears had a good freshman class last season and some were pushed into playing time. The Bears are a year away from making some noise, Chiefs are just too big and too fast.
  23. I think their classification is Division II, but not sure, but still defending champions. Does anyone know if the Kelly kid graduated last year or is he back for the Spartans?
  24. Also just to throw in, the Chiefs were without Hall (mlb) and Yonge (de) because of minor injuries. Playing a freshman at the end position last night.
