Before you start callin people idiots run some numbers from the District tourney to State then see if you come out with the same drastic difference. TSSAA gets gate from these games starting with District as well. Correct me if I am wrong(and I am sure you will). My comparison was based on just the Championships in football and Baseball. And do they kick everyone out of the stadium between games or can you pay one price and watch all games in each class in the Finals. It has been a while since I have gone to the Football championships. And if Football is much more successful and brings in more money then how would you feel about Football covering the sports like Baseball(according to you guys) that don't bring in profit. I'm in. Never have I resorted to name callin. People sure are brave on these message boards. Never in any of my posts have I insulted anyone personally. If you are offended by opinions then you need to stop reading these boards. But to start name callin is far more "absurd" or classless" than I have ever been on here. I have never singled out any team, player, coach, fan, etc. Making a general statement that I don't like soccer, tennis, track, etc. isn't that bad. I guess we live in such a PC country now you have to love everything. Well I don't. My 10 year old daughter plays soccer. That is what she wants to do. I encourage and cheer for her just as much if she was playing softball. Do I understand the game? Yes. Do I respect athletes who work hard and excel in these sports? Yes. Would I prefer her to play softball? Yes. Never have I discouraged her about soccer. If you think I am an idiot thats fine. But keep the name callin face to face. Surely you can express your disagreement without name callin. I enjoy the back and forth banter and difference of opinion. If everyone agreed on everything these boards would be boring. But personally attacking someone with a difference of opinion or different outlook is wrong. Run the numbers for baseball from every District game to the Finals and see if it is not a little closer.

I don't doubt it. The sports are all lumped into this one big event called Spring Fling. If the entire event doesn't make money then nobody gets compensated. They don't seperate revenue into Baseball, Softball, etc. I believe Football, Basketball, Baseball, and Softball all make money, but Football and Basketball don't have any other sports involved in their championships. Baseball has more games during the State than Football and probably just as many if not more than Basketball(if they are still single elimination). It is hard to believe Baseball and Softball don't make as much money as Football and Basketball. I love the Olympic style atmosphere but if they can't start helping these schools out with expenses we need to go back to having each sport at seperate venues.

Sorry if I can't stand soccer,tennis, etc. I am sure the kids work hard but it isn't going to make me watch it. And it doesn't change the fact that Baseball and Softball help cover these sports. Once again my point was that I am ticked off about the schools not getting compensated for expenses. I don't mind paying if the money is used in the best possible way. I would still gripe about having to pay for a 3 year old either way. And I believe this is a Baseball board and this is what it is for. To express yourself within reason. I have not put down any athletes who are competing. I have stated my opinion that soccer and tennis stink. Athletes that work hard(whatever the sport) have my respect, but i don't have to like the sport. That is my opinion and I am entitled to it.

Minus the "crappy" part of my statement the truth is that baseball and softball cover for these sports. Agree or Disagree?

Sorry, you were the last post I read and your post was referring to points I made. I never said that parents were making money. I realize it goes to the program. Sorry if I didn't make it clear. Once again I will say the right thing to do would be give the programs compensation for travel expenses. I know what a baseball budget consists of and what the major expenses are. If I once sounded like I didn't know what I was talking about I apologize. But thank you for pointing out that programs have to pay for umpires and baseballs. Sounds like you have a good relationship with the TSSAA. If that is where you want to hitch your wagon then that is your choice. JUST TO CLARIFY, your program makes money off the State Playoffs while schools who play get no compensation for expenses. I guess I would defend the TSSAA too.

Do some more research. They don't pay for hotels, meals, and travel for the teams.

Just to clarify, I didn't make any negative reference to any of the host parks. I understand that TSSAA is responsible. About the parents and coaches who volunteer their time at the Gate, Concessions, Field, etc. I sympathize. But don't act like it is all out of the goodness of your heart. The program benefits from parking and concessions or you wouldn't be hosting. And to all the "Just be glad you have the opportunity" crap, It sounds like you are justifying the TSSAA taking advantage of the teams and fans who make it to the State. Once again I will stress my main point, I WOULD NOT CARE ABOUT PAYING SO MUCH IF THE SCHOOLS WHO MADE IT TO THE STATE WERE COMPENSATED(NO MATTER THE PERCENTAGE) FOR THEIR TRAVEL. It seems that only the TSSAA and the host teams programs benefit. I don't blame the host schools. They would be stupid if they turned down the opportunity. But the TSSAA's game plan stinks if they aren't making enough money to help the programs. Most of us on here are just disgruntled fans who have a place to vent. But I know several coaches who aren't happy about the situation and they are the ones who can and will make a difference. Murfreesboro is a great centrally located site for Spring Fling, I don't think anyone would argue that. I was glad to see it moved from the extremely inconvenient West site. It is a great sports town with all the great MTSU programs. I want to see TSSAA do the right thing and show appreciation to the coaches, players, and fans from all schools. To me they just tolerate the sports to make the money. Can anyone give me an idea of the biggest expenses they have during these events. The host sites benefit from gate and concession so they shouldn't have to compensate them. Umpires and baseballs don't cost that much. Maybe I am just oblivious and need to be enlightened. If so, it is welcomed. BTW... I don't smoke or drink so I guess I will have to find another way to save $7. I guess when Blue & Gold feels he or she is charged too much for something they keep their mouth shut. Yes we have lost out, but I was still upset when we won & I paid $7 for a 3 year old then another $7 at the 2nd session when we lost out. I am not old enough to have a kid on the team but I brought my family to murfreesboro to watch a great group of young men from LV play baseball, win or lose. When the fact that I am being taken advantage of by gate prices makes me question whether or not to take any part of my family to the game or leave them at home makes me sick. Especially knowing from the 2 previous years the baseball program wasn't going to get any help for travel expenses.

Amen on charging a 3 yr old. Talk about ridiculous. I would like to hear someones justification for that. Just proves to me that it is all about the money. What about charging a player? Lookout Valley had to pay for 2 players(in uniform) because they weren't given enough passes. Later they were told by the TSSAA representative "all you had to do was ask I could have gotten you more". That would have been great if he had been present on the first day & first game of the tournament at the MTCS site. Also from my understanding baseball and softball have to cover for Soccer, Tennis and all the other crappy sports that don't bring in revenue. Someone correct me if I am wrong but I heard South Pittsburgh recieved $30,000 in compensation for playoff expenses during football. They played all home games until the Championship. Explain that. They say football brings in more money and that is their excuse. You are telling me all the District , Region, Sectionals, and State Playoffs in baseball doesn't make more. More Games + More "Sessions" + More venues + charging toddlers and players + Parking = TSSAA stinks. And to Mr. "I would pay double to watch my son play in the State" I agree as long as the money is returned to my sons program who's school has to fund their whole trip. Even a small percentage would be a better gesture than the excuse they were given 2 years ago that they had to put up Soccer scoreboards so they could let Mufreesboro host the Spring Fling. If you can't keep up with a boring 2-1 soccer game some other way then bring it back to the Chattanooga area where Baseball and Softball rule.

Easy 86, A bat can't make that much of a difference. I don't care what you say. We just ran out of pitching plus they were on fire. Lance did a very good job pitching in the first meeting and that is overlooked when you think about the next day. Plus you sound like a wierdo.

So we should teach our kids to run from adversity and problems. That is the mindset that is ruining our school systems, states, and country. Jesus hung out with the drunkards and outcasts of society. He came to save sinners, "like me". To be a light in the darkness. That is what he calls us to be.

Just a little inside joke. Dinger has his boys prepared year in and year out. He does what it takes to improve the program every year. Whether it is facilities or a different approach to hitting, fielding, strength conditioning, etc. He will find a way to improve. Tim has contributed to the program for several years and definitely deserves more praise than he gets. Bobby has been with the program as a volunteer coach for 3 years(I think he had a couple of kids that played at LV in the 90's). Probably the best coaching staff around IMO.

What about Bobby? 3 years volunteering, 2 State Champ. appearances & depending on Fri. could be 3. I have no bias by the way.

I apologize about my earlier rant about media coverage. I did not see the paper for wed. I still believe that smaller schools get overlooked quite a bit but I have to eat crow about this one. LV had great coverage on Wed. I understand they have to spread it around. I had a knee jerk reaction when I opened the paper today. My apologies for acting too soon.

So you disagree with a noticeable bias toward private/larger schools?

That is just my point. McCallie, GPS, Baylor, CCS some winning, some losing then LV staying undefeated and winning a great game against Jackson Christian. And it has always been this way.
