  1. It's all good, we just get a little touchy on that subject because of a few other threads in the past /smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" /> I hope we continue the series with Alcoa in '09...it's a shame not to play
  2. It'll be a lot less than the beating you guys are getting from Maryville! You don't have much to be cocky about...make the playoffs and we'll talk
  3. We also had to drive to Clarksville the season before last...
  4. We'll make it past the second round next year...positive!
  5. /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" /> Come to the 7 on 7 Thursday night if you want to see William Blount play Alcoa. It's the only game we'd waste on you guys
  6. Can you read...apparently you're NOT the smartest person alive! I said Halls would be lucky to not get beaten as badly as Alcoa will...which means Alcoa will keep it closer. I was on Alcoa's side...Halls doesn't stand a chance.

  8. Boy, you guys sure do like talking about William Blount don't ya?
  9. I have NEVER said that I thought the William Blount program has been on par with Maryville. That's a fact...and I've got no problem with that. Maryville has a great winning tradition. I'm not oblivious to the fact that William Blount has been a below average program since the school opened...but things change. The change started with William Blount last season...don't expect us to return to mediocrity. The past is the past...
  10. There's a 7 on 7 passing scrimmage with South Doyle, Jefferson Co., and Pigeon Forge at 6 tomorrow at South Doyle
  11. Glad we can finally agree /flower.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":flower:" border="0" alt="flower.gif" />
  12. It won't come down to a kick this year...
  13. I'm always irritable...it wasn't the bait /ph34r.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="ph34r.gif" />
  14. If you've got a problem, why don't you post an actual reply instead of making your stupid little quips?
  15. I will say that we weren't nearly as focused against Farragut as we should have been...we were a team that wasn't used to high levels of success and after being so close in the Maryville game, we couldn't forget about it.
  16. It's rough on a team to play challenging games each week of the season...it'd be nice to play two potentially difficult games a year and get Clinton, South Doyle, and Lenoir City for the rest of the "competition"
  17. We've already been over the Alcoa/WB debate in another thread, so I have no idea why you're trying to bring that here. I'm not saying that Maryville should drop Alcoa...maybe you guys should drop Heritage...but then again you've never been the type to push those scheduling boundaries. Maybe you guys should man up and play in 5A. It'd free more games up for non region play so you can keep pounding a 2A team every year and actually play someone. If WB put Alcoa back on the schedule...it wouldn't be "manning up." Scheduling the state's all-time winningest team instead (Dobyns-Bennett) is manning up.
  18. I saw them twice after the WB game...yes we lost in the playoffs...thanks for bringing that to my attention! It was quite a letdown to have to watch the 4A playoffs...it's much more entertaining watching games with competition. I can say that because MBA is a team that can beat the best of the best in TN...something that I can't say for Maryville. I wouldn't know though, would I? I have nothing to base an informed decision on because Maryville is a "4A" team. Saying Alcoa would beat us is obviously NOT an informed decision...the school that doesn't play Alcoa plays another 5A team instead now. Maybe Maryville should take a few pages from our book? The Maryville/MBA question will never be settled on the field.
  19. The guy asked a question and I answered it...I didn't even mention Maryville /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" />
  20. Why must you bring WB into every thread? Are you guys still that worried about us? I saw Maryville play many times last year...which is what I'm basing my conclusions on
  21. I'll do my best to keep it going but there's not much to argue about anymore /ph34r.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="ph34r.gif" /> Wilhite will be working with the offense some, but he won't let his defense suffer at all. The assistants that handled the offense last year are all still with us. This is the second year in both the offensive and defensive systems, so everything will be much smoother.
  22. Because that's not muffin's job. It IS Murphy's job. He chose to produce his magazine for a living, and he has a whole year to do it.
  23. I agree with your assessment of the team, GovMan. In my opinion, the defense will be even better than last year's. The defensive line will be very strong, Hassett is going to be a force to be reckoned with and Gordley will be a year more experienced and stronger. The linebackers shouldn't drop off any from last year. Nothing needs to be said about Lail, and Manges played very well until his injury last year and he is back at full strength. Cope will be one of the best cornerbacks in the state this year. He is a tremendous worker and it's scary to imagine him improving much more, but he'll be even better this season. The rest of the secondary will be a little inexperienced, but they will be upperclassmen who have been ready to step in for a year now. Garner may play safety also, and he can really lay a hit on someone! The offense will be good, but not as explosive as last season. Burstrom will be sorely missed. None of the quarterbacks competing for the starting job have any varsity experience. Pelligrini is ahead of the pack now and has the edge to remain the starter. He played well during junior varsity last season, but it may take a few games to get used to varsity football at the 5A level. Garner had the most successful season ever for a William Blount running back last season as a junior. He will have to carry more of a load for the team this year and he is definately capable of doing so. The running back position is the strongest on our offense. The offensive line will be extremely young, as all five starters graduated last season. The guys that are coming in are all big, strong guys, and Coach Emert always has his offensive line ready. They will surprise some people this year! Cope will be our leading reciever, also, but there is a lot of speed in this years recieving corps. Most of the starters will be seniors and capable of making big plays. The passing game will be the biggest question mark of this year's team, since the quarterback and all recievers but Cope didn't start last season. This inexperience will get worked out, though, and all the guys starting this year have the tools to be as successful or better than last year's seniors. Kase Whitehead is a big loss. The special teams won't be as strong as last year, but they shouldn't be a huge weakness. I'm definately excited about this season. This team has a lot of work to do, but they are capable of doing better than last year's team. People will take us lightly since we lost 28 seniors, and there aren't many teams that can lose that many players and be better. This team has some extremely talented players, and after a few games we will be clicking on all cylinders. This is one of the toughest seasons to predict because I'm not sure how the new starters will step-up under the game pressure. They have the ability but ability doesn't always translate to wins. If they work hard and continue to improve, look for this year's team to make a run!
