  1. Wasn't able to make the scrimmage, but heard DL won 21-0. Also heard that DL played a lot of younger kids after running at will early and that Sycamore had a kid go to the hospital. Anybody know who it was? The good signs for Sycamore was Carrigan and Pope and OLine, but the bad was the entire defense and especially the secondary. Again, I wasn't there and all this was hearsay. Anybody know for sure?
  2. Springfield - L Montg Central - W S Camp - L CC - ????? PC - L WH - L GB - ???? MC - ???? Dekalb - W Harpeth - W At worst, 3-7. At best, 6-4. My prediction, somewhere in the middle...either 4-6 or 5-5.
  3. I watched the kid play all of his life, even at Eagleville, and there is no way he runs a 4.8 40. Well maybe downhill, with a strong wind at his back, and an inaccurate watch and/or incompetent person using the watch. Great kid though. I really wished he ran a 4.8 40, but there is no way. By the way, who were the receivers? Thanks.
  4. Ummmm.....yes it does! Losing Lohin is a ton and is extremely hard to overcome losing a player like him. Simms isnt in the same league. What does he run his 40? About 5.5 ??? Eagleville is much different than Sycamore as is the level of competition. Lohin carried Sycamore. Losing Vanderford is tough too as is Cannon. Littlejohn was a 3 year starter...also hard to replace. I'd agree that Corey Carrigan is a plus though. He is better than his older brother. Sycamore will be watching from afar come playoffs.
  5. Upon hearing some recent news from Sycamore today and while I was in Macon Co last week, I change MY predictions to: 1. WH 2. PC 3. GB 4. S CAMP 5. MACON 6. SYC 7. DEKALB I reserve the right to stay mum on what is going on at both places...
  6. Great talent makes great coaches. How many state championships could Fitz had won if PC were playing in 3A his last 4-5 years like they were classified instead of opting to play 4A? I'd say at least 1 more, but we'll never know. PC has tons of talent and probably always will...it just doesnt make Brunetti a "great" coach. Anyone could and will win for years to come at PC. And I really dont think you understand the comparison fully. Jones statistically was one of the better players in the midstate, but not in actual physical playmaking ability. He would not have started at TB for many, many teams in the midstate. He was big and physical and slow and stiff AND ran behind a great o-line. Good o-lines make average backs look really good. I do think he had the biggest heart in the midstate though and he is an even better person too. I dont mean to take anything away from him, but he was not one of the best TAILBACKS in the midstate. Maybe in stats, but not in physical ability. There is a diffrence. Where is he playing now?
  7. In 2001 MC won the region and lost at home to a 4th seed Jackson SS who is also notorious for choking in the play-offs, just like they did to Sycamore a few years ago in the 1st round. And they indeed had the talent to be powerhouses those years with the exception of maybe 2003. Didn't Sycamore beat Cheatham that year without a suspended Langley at QB and with a battered, banged-up, and injured tailback Landon Jones at about half seed? Thought so. Dont make excuses for Cheatham losing to Creekwood that year either. There are reasons teams "play awful" in losses. They always seem to right?
  8. Both Fairview and Cheatham County were 2A teams. Therefore you're point is weak. And throw out the fact of rivalry games between Cheatham County and Sycamore. Yes Sycamore beat Cheatham that year when Cheatham was heavily favored, BUT wasn't Sycamore heavily favored the year before that and Cheatham ran all over them? Garza was also injured his jr year with a concussion in the Greenbrier game and missed the next week. And when they played Marshall County (who beat a highly over-rated Lexington team in the 1st round before getting shalacked at Greenbrier the following week) in week 10, why in the world did Marshall County get so ultra conservative after they got a 13 point lead in the 2nd half? Answer: Their coaching staff was disfunctional and ultimately gave the game to Sycamore by arguing wayyyyyy too much and losing focus. Proof was in the following weeks that Mac was fired and Tharp left the state. And Giles County, whom Sycamore beat in week 9, was a bottom feeder that year too, which also weakens your point. So the final 3 games Sycamore won that year was 2A Cheatham County, bottom-feeding Giles County, and a disarrayed Marshall County team. Doesn't sound like murder's row to me. I wouldnt call that region loaded just because Greenbrier finished 2nd in the state. Every region sends 4 teams to the play-offs. A team could possibly win 2 or 3 games to get in. You do not have to be a good team to make the play-offs. Half of the state makes the play-offs! Probably more than half the state at that with 8 classifications! A loaded region might be Ausin East, Fulton, Knox Cathoilic and gang from east TN. ALSO how many times has Marshall County choked in the play-offs?
  9. Opinions? That's why we play the game. PC coaching staff won last year based on tons of talent, played in an average region, and matched with a very down region from east TN. And as far as coaches winning in their 1st year? Look no further than Larry Coker and the University of Miami. What has he done since winning the nat'l championship his 1st year, where his he now, and how did he leave the image of Miami? White House? No, I'm not biased at all. I simply think they have one of the premier coaching staffs in the state of TN and will get it done behind some verey strong, physical players. Did Halstead make the playoffs at Sycamore Garza's (and Polk and McCain and Booker and Moore and all the talent they had) senior year? Nope. Goes to prove they were undercoached...and didn't they lose to Montgomery Central and a 2nd year program Creekwood that year? Mark my word, Sycamore will not make the playoffs this year. Macon will surprise some folks this year! Dekalb? I agree with you. Greenbrier will make a valient run at the region title this year....but fall short.....and win a first round game...at least. Station Camp will lose to PC, Greenbrier, WH, Macon, and play a close game with Sycamore that could really go either way.
  10. 1. Lipscomb - Always good with ecxellent coaching 2. Marshall Co - Tons of talent, better coaching, could actually win it 3. Cheatham Co - Will be back after a down year last year, great coaching staff 4. Giles Co - Tons of talent, decent coaching, but other teams in region are too good 5. Page - Will improve 6. Creekwood - Should be fighting for 3rd or 4th, but stubborn coaching staff... 7. Spring Hill - Who really knows about this team, has talent.... 8. Montgomery Central - Needs to play Houston and Stewart Co about 10 times to be have a chance of winning 5 games...
  11. 1. White House - Reloaded and matured and well coached and STRONG 2. PC - Athletic as always, will under-achieve - won't make it to 3rd round this year with championship caliber players-not coaches 3. Greenbrier - Always tough and well coached under Williams 4. Macon County - Average....just average 5. Sycamore - Decent to good talent, but will under-achieve and miss play-offs for 3 of 4 years under Halstead 6. Station Camp - Too many holes to fill from last year 7. Dekalb - -----------
