  1. I am not a doctor, but what is the difference between broken and fracture. That is like saying I am not pregnant, but i am "having a baby".

Most of the time a fracture is less severe. A fracture is a crack in the bone and a break means it is basically in half.

  2. Monday 5:00 at DCA...Stem vs. Adkins on the hill

Tuesday 4:30 at Goodpasture... Cripps vs. whoever DCAs number 2 is

What are your thoughts? The only opponent they've had in common is White House who Goodpasture beat 2-1 and 4-2. DCA also won both games 10-0 and 6-3.

Seems like an even matchup. Any predictions?

  3. Runner on third. after the pitcher begins his windup or motion to the plate, the batter jumps out of the box and yells time. If there's a good ump, he will not award the batter time because the pitcher is already in his wind up. The pitcher will be startled and not pitch the ball, which is a balk, and the runner scored. A team did this to us many years ago and I was not very happy. Bush league, but a trick play nonetheless.

Another is when there are only two umpires, one behind the plate and one in the field, runners on second and third the hitter puts down a bunt. The home plate ump should be watching the runner cross the plate and the field ump should be watching the play at first so the runner on second and cut third WAY short through the grass and there, you have two runs on a bunt. Once again, someone has done it to a team i've coached and I was not very happy...BUSH

  4. Lets set the record straight. When someone throw's 93 one time that dosen't mean he can throw 93 all the time. I was at the East Coast tryout's in Dayton Ohio. Sat behind Kentucky, L'ville and the Dayton coaches. I saw over fifty pitcher's throw that day none were over 91. Seth Lintz for marshall co. someone say's throw's 92 or 93. I'm sorry the highest he got was 89. Stem from DCA has hit 93 before but most of the time 90 or 91. Sonny Gray for smyrna may have hit 97 before I've seen him throw he's around 93'94 most of the time. I'm not knocking anyone, It amazing how these kid's can throw a ball at such a young age. I can assure you I wouldn't want to hit against them. That's just my thought's.

  5. Top AA contenders from Middle Tennessee would be Goodpasture, DCA & Lipscomb. Goodpasture lost alot of good players but has a good senior class again this yr. DCA has alot of pitching but lost a great catcher from last year. I dont know about their hitting. Lipscomb has a good team returning from last yr when they started 5 sophomores and 3 juniors among their top 11 players. They should be better this year. Marshall County is a dark horse cause Seth Lintz is a top pitcher and can beat anybody with him on the mound but no one knows who else they have with him.

Lipscomb always has a good team especially in the hitting department, but do they have enough pitching this year?

Goodpasture always has a great program for some reason, i dont know how they do it, but this year their pitching depth could get them in trouble in tournament play. They have a solid number one, a decent number two, and after that there's not much to fall back on.

DCA is being very underestimated this year as they always are. Last year's team lost less than 10 games and i'm pretty sure they beat state champions goodpasture at least two times, maybe three i'm not too sure, but they only lost one senior from last year's team. Look for them to be a force this year.

  6. Dalton has really assembled a pretty potent team this year and think they have a chance of winning the state, and I am predicting an UNDEFEATED season. You read it here first. I believe the starting batting order to be this!

    C Jordan Beavers .231 0 7 2 SB's in 2007

    2B Buster Crotcher .177 0 5 in 2007

1B Myles Truck .202 2 11 (should have been all district last year)

    P Kirkpatrick Smithers .281 3 12 ( 1-4 as pitcher/missed 1/2 the season to 3rd DUI)

CF Tanner Smith (did not make team last year)

    3B Casey Santana .122 0 3 (2 bunt singles in 2007)

RF Bartholemew Winston Beta Club president

SS Will Morgan A true freshman!

    LF up for grabs!

pitching will be solid with Smithers as the ace, followed Jessie Dinks (1-7 6.12 era), and new comers Lefty Groves and Travis Mullhollan. We want USJ, Farragut, Bartlett! Bring it on!

good lord. I would hate to face that line-up. looks to be pretty stacked

  7. hahaha...Everyone knows private schools recruit for sports...It may be against the rules but that doesn't mean they don't do it.

    BS.

The teams would be so much better than they actually are if they recruited. And, goodpasture and dca are both Kindergarden through 12th grade schools and i gaurantee 90% of the players on each team have been at their school since at least elementary school, and if they are recruiting elementary school kids then they are doin a heck of a job of predicting them.

  8. I'm a senior at Greenbrier, but I don't play...I just love baseball.

What other teams had conflicts with Portland?

something about portland players throwing quarters and rocks at goodpasture's 1st baseman last year from the dugout and some white house players exchanged some words with some portland players in the parking lot after they beat them pretty good.

the bottom line is, portland is just not a very good team but they try and make up for it by startin fights n what not

  9. But you never know in baseball. A team like Portland, which most of the teams beat up on in the regular season, could come along and eliminate a team or two, just as they did last year to White House and Greenbrier. (But I don't think White House nor Greenbrier will have "fluke games" like that this year.) I heard a fight almost broke out in the district tournament game between Greenbrier and Portland. Is this true?

lol. you play for greenbrier, why don't you tell me?

I think everyone ALMOST got in a fight with portland

  10. 1.Goodpasture

*I think Greenbrier and DCA will make an interesting battle for 2nd place.*

    2.Greenbrier

    3.DCA

    4.White House

    5.Station Camp

    6.Portland

The Greenbrier and DCA games came down to the last out in two out of the three games last season. Both teams are returning most of their starters, so I think the games these two teams play will be the games to watch out of the district.

I respect that. Greenbrier should be very tough this year... I don't see Goodpasture winning the district though. Either way the greenbrier/dca matches go i think one of those two teams will take goodpasture down at least in the regular season if not the district tournament. Two new starting pitchers won't be consistent enough in my opinion
