  1. "Maybe you should gear up your band, get the banjo going, and hop on a train to some bluegrass festival." What's that statement supposed to mean, workinprogress?
  2. I sure hope poor little ole Gallatin can hold Smyrna under 100pts Friday night...
  3. That was the kind of effort that will get it done for GHS... the D-line applied consistent pressure tonight and the LB's played 100% better which made for better pass defense... Offense looked sharper and the backs hit the holes much much harder and faster than they have all season... QB needs to be able to see his open receivers and not lock on just one... he did have some awesome runs leaving guys laying on the ground cause they were tackling air though... Good win for the Green Wave...
  4. If and when the D-line starts pressuring the QB and we start making the tackles we are missing in the backfield, you will see a better pass defense.. We need another Rusty Fisher type D-lineman to help Gleaves on the line. Hope that kid, whoever he is, will step up soon.. I think GHS takes this game by 14..
  5. Mt. Juliet runs away, literally, with this one!
  6. You are spot on! The Butler kid at receiver or the slot would be a much better fit IMO... you could use him so many different ways. He doesn't throw the ball with much on it therefore it floats or the receivers have to wait on it many times. Putting Matthews in at QB would give the other teams something to think about, like you said. I've been told that the kid with the best arm is the other senior QB. Maybe use him and try and open up a passing game which will only help the running game... anyway, try something different and if it doesn't work you can always go back to what's not working now!
  7. I'm glad to hear that.... and you are absolutely right, it has to happen at practice and Friday nights will be a reward. This Gallatin fan is behind you and this team more than you will ever know! I hear what happens and sneak by practice once in a while... you guys just practice wide open and it will happen for Gallatin... By the way, heck of a game Friday night 6... GO WAVE!
  8. I take it from your reply that you are a player for Gallatin. If you want these kinds of post to stop then you boys need to start playing with fire in you belly and with a purpose. I know you guys are frustrated and don't want to loose any games but you boys are the only ones that can do something about it! It looks like you all are out there just going through the motions much of the time. You guys need a leader and some kids to start stepping up. I hope you win out and play for the championship but I and all the other fans can only hope for it... you guys are the ones that have to make it happen.
  9. The Wave is off to a 1-2 start and hasn't looked very good so far. Can they get it going this coming week at Glencliff?
  10. Hope he's a player and I hope he can block!
  11. If the D line will start putting pressure on the QB then that would help the DB's.... sorry to bring it up but that was why Gallatin's DB's were so good last year and had as many int's.... pressure form the D line all the time, except maybe the Ravenwood game.
  12. I agree with your "speed" or lack there of, comment; they look like they are playing at 3/4 speed. If the other 10 players would start playing at the speed Sweat did in the second half it would solve a lot of problems for the Wave defense... they are still have to think too much and seem afraid of making mistakes which keeps them form being aggresive! I'll say this, they never quit last night.. this team will improve form week to week and actually be pretty good when it counts I think.. I have to give MJ the edge in this one based on what I've seen so far... prove me wrong Green Wave!
  13. Well, if you are really the QB for Gallatin then I applaude you for standing up for your team and coach. I might suggest that you not talk bad about last years line. Those guys played just as hard as any line before them and they wanted to win just as badly. I understand your frustration with "the 42 seniors" as it did get old hearing that term again and again; and it still gets old hearing it. They are gone and should be remembered for having one of the most talented groups that came through GHS in some time. It's time to completely focus on the team we have now.. you guys as a group are very inexperienced and WILL get better each week. If I had to critize anything about coach Lassiter it would be his lack of foresight for this years team. I honestly feel like he sold out this year to try to win a state title last year! There were several game last year where these kids could have played quite a bit and gained that game experience but they didn't and it is what it is... you are correct about him being a good man and a hard worker, no one works harder that I know of. I suggest you take the things you talked about in #2 to your players. Be the leader a QB should be and get your players to give 110% effort on EVERY play and you have to give the same 110% first!!! You and your teammates can have an outstanding year. Smyrna got demolished last year by Riverdale but look what they did!! You and your teammates have to find the want to in yourselves. The coaches will prepare you guys to win but as YOU stated; YOU GUYS are the ones on the field playing the game! You have this Gallatin fans complete support! Now lets beat Hillwood and get this things started. GO WAVE!
  14. You need to read my post again. I said they do have a good chance to have a good season. Explain to me how kids standing on the sideline makes them ready to play?
  15. I believe Gallatin does have a good chance to have a good season this year. However, they have to work hard to correct the problem that were glaring in the Lebanon game! The O line must play with and attitude and stay with their blocks, the D line must get mean and the LB's have to become more aggressive. Overall tackling has to improve! The thing everyone must remember is that these kids have stood on the sidelines for two years now. Only a few have minimal game experience and one or two are veterans. The fans have to be patient and allow these boys to develope. This team will get better and be a pretty good team. Two big plays was the difference even as poorly as GHS played at times, so don't give up on these kids.. Go Wave!!
  16. From what I was Friday night, Gallatin has a lot of work to do this week! They are going to have to understand that you can't take one play off.. tackling has to improve or it's going to be a long season for the wave. The lines played well at times but they have to play consistently well all game. They sure are missing that LB crew also. I know the coaches will study the game film and make the corrections necessary. The jamboree sure would have helped work out some of these things but it is what it is.. some of the kids need to step it up and get agressive.. I didn't see a "KILLER INSTINCT" with this team... hope that changes soon! The Wave should take this one against Hillwood but it'll be closer than most think if they play like they did on Friday. 21-7 Gallatin
  17. Squoshwave17, that's a pretty good assesment... you are correct about the kicker. He could be the MVP for Gallatin this year. The line play this year will have more to say about the fortunes and woes of the Greenwave than in recent seasons, also...
  18. That's good cause I'm hearing there's alot of really good players on the team...
  19. I know that the kids on the Gallatin team, as well as every other team in the state, read this board, the sports articles, the previews and anything else written about their respective teams. Each kid that suits up is just as important as any other kid... all I'm trying to point out is that this team doesn't need to hear anything about a certain group or an individual player... the perception of this teams chances of success since last season has been minimal at best... I've heard the comments form people first hand. Wave88, I understand what you meant in your post but think about the kids that read these posts and understand that they want to be recognized just as much as Boo... I only replied to your post in order to get you and others to think about a complete group of kids and not just one or two... Here's to a great season for the Green Wave!!!!!
  20. Is this Boo kid gonna have anyone else helping him or is he gonna single handedly play each team by himself? The kid is a good athlete but he can't win it without a TEAM... these kids have lived in the shadow of THE 43 SENIORS, they don't need to be forgotten for one player... Galltain, will be okay this season but it will take a team effort.. I just hope everyone keeps underestimating this team..
  21. Your statement is exactly why I have to go with the Green Wave.... those kids are sick and tired of living in the shadow of last years seniors, a very talented bunch mind you... this years version of the Green Wave have some kids that can play too!!
  22. Where did the UNEXPECTED heat come form???? Thank goodness the boys haven't had to practice in that kind of heat!! Do you think week 0 games will be canceled tonight?
  23. Gallatin won it 28-0... I believe NE ran a version of the wing-T... they quick snapped to the RB quite a bit which got them some yards up the middle and they ran a counter off the right side for pretty good yardage.. However, GHS made adjustments and pretty much stopped them once they did. They had no air attack at all.. Not much else to report.. they had more size than Gallatin but weren't a very disciplined team IMO..
  24. Gallatin did win... the defense was tested early but adjusted to stop the runs up the middle.. however the D-backs don't seen to like contact very much... I hope that's because they haven't had contact but once since they got back form camp.
  25. Northeast vs Gallatin Tommorow night the 17th at Gallatin come one come all. howd the game go? Gallatin won it 4-0 and the kicking scrimmage 3 FG's to 0... The starting unit was in for 3 series scoring on the second and third. The second unit scored on their first two possessions... GHS killed themselves late in the scrimmage with penalties or the score would have been greater..
