  1. No, not all varsity pitchers.....It's really hard to say at this point about some, but I'm sure Colton Harris, Andrew Massie, Keaton Gregory,& Andrew Jordan will pitch varsity. Nick Newell will help a little on the mound but probably never a district game. Same for Will Harris & Logan Wildenburg. Matt Smith is looking very strong and could pitch for varsity, but probably not district games until he gets more comfortable....but again, he may come out and perform very well and get lots of time on the mound. You just never know. I will say that Smith is one of the hardest workers out there. He knows what he wants and knows what he has to do to get it! Not sure about Drew Surratt...he has been working on his arm and was known to be a strong little pitcher a couple of years ago...so we'll see. Quienton Haycraft will probably be pretty much JV. AGAIN....it really depends on how much they've been working on their own in the off season, but we will soon know. I am looking forward to seeing Dyersburg this year. They should prove to be VERY strong this year and will probably take their district and region. I look for them to make another appearance at State and would LOVE to see them bring it back to Dyer County!!!
  2. As long as ozment is at dc they will continue to reload.. He is, in my opinion, one the top 3 coaches in west tennessee. He also would win the "recruiter of the year" award in west tn for last 3 or 4 years. Ask halls about that one. I am not taking anything away from dc because i have a lot of respect for the program but just stating facts. You also have to remember they pitched a freshman that dominated in the state tournament. Their jv team probably would have beaten westview, milan, crockett, obion, and gibson in the district last year. I hope they do well in aaa this year. Thank you for the the nice comments, but let me state some fact: There once was a travel team called the West TN Stixx that clicked on and off the field. They were all great friends & after a couple of years of playing together they started talking about high school. The majority of them were in the Dyer County district. There were only about 4 or 5 that went to other schools. N. Newell, JD Hudson, C.Harris & R.Humphries were 4 that decided they wanted to go to Dyer County to play baseball with the other STIXX players (FRIENDS). Having never met Coach Ozment we made the decision to move to DC. Then the next year the others followed just as they had talked about for the last 2 years. Preston Ozment had nothing to do with it at all; however, they have really pulled together, making a great team!
  3. Colton Harris Andrew Massie Drew Surratt Keaton Gregory Andrew Jordan Matt Smith Quinton Haycraft Will Harris BJ Pate Nick Newell Logan Wildenburg
  4. well, they are all going to look a little slow if this snow doesn't go away and STAY away so they can actually get in some practice!!! LOL
  5. TOTALLY agree with you on Bosheers! I just didn't realize he was a Junior this year. VERY good ball player! Saw him play both age groups with the American Legion and saw him at Adamsville.
  6. really? Not sure of Nick Newell's over all batting avg as a sophomore, but he did hit 10 homers as a sophomore and batted a .750 at the State Tournament.
  7. 2011 grad: Nick Newell -- Dyer County
  8. No Dyer County? I'm just asking because they are moving up.....I know things change a lot from year to year. They lost valuable seniors yet still have strong upcoming players. I really think if they can keep their heads in the game and really "click" as a team they could do very well. Making it to state...?...well, only time will tell and really no one can possibly know right now.
  9. Blue Devils... you can contact Ronnie Burke. He has a post about try-out somewhere here. He's already had the try out; however, you can still contact him to see if he has a spot available. Here's what I found in the Jackson Sun: •The Tennessee Blue Devils will be hosting a tryout of their fall 18U College Prep team on Saturday at 9 a.m. (site TBD). This team will be made up of 2010, 2011 and 2012 high school graduates aspiring to play college baseball. For more information, contact Ronnie Burke at coachburke2@hotmail.com.
  10. My son is going to play on a Fall team; however, they will only play in 4 tournaments. The last being the 3rd weekend in October. Is it worth looking for another team that will play beyond that? We are committed to this team and only looking to play with different team from then on. FYI: we are in West TN (bout as far West you can go..LOL)
  11. Heck, you just named more than half the team.......and that is why it's called TEAM. I NEVER said the other guys didn't deserve it or that our TEAM wouldn't have made it anywhere without any one person. Heck I didn't even mention ANY names at all. I'm sorry that YOU feel that Dyersburg would not have made it at all without Joey or Tyler....I bet they don't feel that way.........although they are both great ball players AND kids. Guess I should've waited to see if there was a State All Tournament team. Plus I just realized they combine ALL divisions, which makes it even tougher to make.
  12. okay....all state teams have been announced and quite frankly I am so very confused! How does a kid go 12 for 16 during a state tournament, make remarkable plays in the outfield and NOT make 1st OR 2nd team??? Someone please help me understand this. I understand they go off of stats...........come on.....wonder how many coaches doctor their players stats, heck I know of many DADS that coach their sons in High School....but I don't know of anything else to go off of. Just gotta hope most coaches are honest...... /roflolk.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflolk:" border="0" alt="roflolk.gif" />
  13. Fitzgerald? Cubs? Yes he did.
  14. Nah...........we still ridin HIGH ON HAPPINESS and dancin to our WARCHANT!!!!!!!!!!!
  15. yes, yes, yes.....so so sorry! Logan and Q-man are developing quite well!
  16. /roflolk.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflolk:" border="0" alt="roflolk.gif" /> Do you even know what the "TRUTH" is? All schools are governed by TSSAA. They decide the classifications, not the school administration, the coaches or the players. This thread was started to praise OUR boys, so if you aren't here to praise them, move on to another one, as there are many Choctaw envious threads on here. Post your bias crap there and leave our PARTY.........cause WE ARE PROUD TO BE A CHOCTAW!!!! GO ORANGE!
  17. yes...Keaton Gregory, Andrew Massie, Andrew Jordan, Will Harris, Cody Starks (lefty), Nick Newell(lefty), Seth King=incoming Freshman. Could be other incoming freshment that I am unaware of.
  18. WOW>>>>>>what a ride!!!!! My skin is burnt, my lips are chapped, my eyes are tired, my throat is sore, my checking account is empty.......... BOY DO I FEEL BLESSED!!!!! Thanks to all the fans and supporters for coming to the Boro! The convoy through Dyer County was absolutely amazing. Thanks to the policemen, firemen, rescue squad, SL100 and all of those who gathered at the field to celebrate with us!!! To you seniors and your parents......you are an awesome group and I will miss you so much!!! Best of EVERYTHING to you!!! You deserve it!!! Thank you Choctaws for the memories!!!! I love you all!!!
  19. Only the Sub-state game was easy.........every game to get to that point; however, was much tougher.
  20. HA....I like that! So I heard something and I hope it isn't true, but heard that in championship game whoever wins -- that's it, even if both only have 1 loss. Could that possibly be true? I'm gonna look on the TSSAA website, but if anyone knows for sure, please post. Thanks. JUST FOUND THIS FROM THE HANDBOOK: G. The eight winners of the sectional shall advance to the central tournament site. The tournament will consist of two pools of four teams that will play a double elimination tournament within each pool. The winner of each pool will then play a single game for the state championship. The draw shall be made so that if two teams from the same region reach the central tournament site, they will be drawn to opposite brackets. The draw shall be made by the Board of Control. So, yeah.....
  21. well....DC won 26-0. That game should have never taken place. DC JV came in after the 2nd??? I felt bad for them. But hey, they seemed to have fun. Westwood's LF wore his hat backwards all night and the IF were cutting up with each other. Last I heard D'burg game was pretty much the same.
  22. How are the brackets set up for state play? I wouldn't want Dyer County and Dyersburg to meet up first game or even 2nd game. Anyone know how that works? Yeah yeah, I know, we must WIN tonight, but I was curious how that worked anyway.
  23. ditto!.... They are two freshmen that have played on a travel team for several years together along with about 5 others. They have been preparing for days like this, their preparations have paid off and should be paying off for years to come----provided they keep working at it and take care of their arms/body/mind! I see nothing but bright futures for them and others on this DC team. "Fight the Fight" my dear Stixx friends! /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" />
  24. Wish somebody would tally up DC and Dyersburg homers. I know DC has several as a team! Here's a "guess"timate: Haycraft has at least 6 maybe 7 Thomas has around 4 or 5 Patterson has about 5 Gammons has 3 or 4 Newell has 4 or 5 Bevis has 2...? Roberson has 1 Starks has 1 Massie has 1....maybe 2 ??
