  1. Carter High School had a great student section last year. They would tailgate at every game home and away and supported every sport. Heard that they had a hundred students show up for a soccer game. This year I've heard they are struggling to get their numbers, but they are still going.
  2. I must have misread the paper, I apologize. I still believe that AE will be able to run the ball better on Carter's defense then they will throwing it. I think the possibility of rain hurts Carter worse than AE, just because Carter is a better passing team then they are running. I think the rain will make it a sloppy game with a lot of turnovers. I just hope it isn't a blowout and that a new rivalry can begin in east knox.
  3. After the AE/ Catholic game one thing is clear- AE can run the ball a lot better than they can throw it. While they are dangerous in both aspects, the run game is what will spell disaster for the hornets. Carter's defense is weak at linebackers and while they have a good d-line on paper, they haven't shown it thus far in a game. I hope that this will be a close game and that the Hornet offense can keep them in it. I can't wait to go to the game and get some of those famous chicken wings (Thank you for playing Carter this year). Alone those wings make a blowout game great.
  4. Carter will still more than likely win the region again this year. Look at who we've played. Bearden and South Doyle are two larger teams who are very good (especially the first). South Doyle was a game that should have been won, but speed and the run game up the middle beat us. Another issue that needs to be worked on is tackling. Our players go for the big hits instead of wrapping up and therefore give up big plays. It was much improved from the Bearden game, and from what the players have told me they are working on it in practice and expect to make a great showing for Claiborne. What Carter has to do is remain focus and try to ignore all the talk about how they aren't last year's team. Yea, we lost a great senior class, but this year the Hornets have by far played a harder schedule than either team of the last two years. Bearden is the toughest team the hornets have played in a long time. Carter only has approximately 1000 students and I think it is great that we go and try to compete with programs such as them. To compare this years team to last years is unfair. SD is a lot better then last year and we only won 14-0 last year. Once #20 returns from injury, which is rumored to be friday??, this team will be as close to full strength as it can be. I look forward to Friday and look forward to watching the team play. I think it will be a fun and hopefully injury free game. Go Hornets!
  5. #20 had been hurt previously with some ankle and foot issues, but he is sidelined because of a seperated shoulder he suffered in the Bearden game. I agree that #22 is just as good at tailback, but #20 is a loss for the defense that is already struggling to keep players on the field. I guess with #11 coming back it won't be too bad, but nonetheless I would personally like them both to be playing. I can't wait to for friday and region play to see a team that is on the verge of being full strength again. Go Hornets!
  6. Ruse? I agree with you and Karns is also another good team that the Hornets will face. I like the improved schedule mainly for the fact that it allows the program to see where they are and to play teams that will help them to achieve their goal of becoming a top-notch program. Go Hornets!
  7. Last week was a bad game, but fortunatly for Carter that will be their hardest opponent of the season. The player Sprinkle #5 who was hurt has (from word around school) a mild concussion and possibly a form of whiplash. Another loss is the running back Caldwell #20 who seperated his shoulder and will be out against SD. On the positive side Roach returns from injury and Stanton returns from suspension so this will help to allieviate some of the key positions stress. Hopefully Carter can bounce back and gain a solid win against what i've heard is a solid SD team. Go Hornets!
  8. I think if the Carter D can hold the Bearden offense to 7 or 14 points and the offense is clicking Carter will have a chance. The question is if the D can hold the Bearden quarterback from breaking out and having a career night, because he is without a question one of the best in the state. This is a great chance to see how good our program is by playing a top calaber team such as Bearden. I hope its a good hard hitting game and that the Hornets win or lose gain some respect for their play. GO HORNETS
  9. MineyHaole, I heard that Bearden could have won twenty-one to zero had they completed some passes. Is there any truth to that? I also agree that Bearden will be a very good team both physically and fundamentally. This game will be the hardest game on the Hornet's schedule this year, and hopefully it is an enjoyable game to watch. After the results of both jamborees, I feel that east TN is stacked with talent and we are fortunate enough to be entertained by this talent.
  10. I am a new member of CoachT and also a student at Carter High School. It is true that #2 has been removed from the team (not sure about permeantly or temporary) , but the rumor about the parent circulating a petition is false. Please don't ask for details about the situation, because I don't want to say anything that Coach Woods doesn't want revealed. I agree with ruse? that while he is a good player and a playmaker, he is not the team. While he will be hard to replace, the season isn't lost.
