  1. All the classy posters are coming out tonight. If these posts are an indication of what class is I am glad CPA does not have any. Belittling and making fun of players really speaks highly of your character teece31. CPA is definitely pretty high on your radar because you did put a lot of factual information between your slams. You take who you want, but I'll take Hunter Miller and Z mason all day long as the best 1-2 punch in the state.

I was being completely serious. Nothing I said in that post was a lie. They are a great team, there's no doubt, but there does not have to be a CPA lovefest in every AA thread. It's frustrating seeing everywhere on a board I like to read (so don't tell me that I could just not read here anymore) that any opposition to CPA is terrible or boring and that CPA overcoming the obstacles to win is the most glorious occasion. I did not make fun of any player (okay, the /wub.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="wub.gif" /> by Peterson was a little too much).

Thank you for saying that I put a lot of factual evidence, because I have seen CPA play quite a few times in the last 6 years with their current and past staff. I know my stuff. And they are on my radar because they're in the Region semifinals of a Region containing the District that I enjoy following because the schools are in my area.

  2. I probably know more than you think, but that is why I said I'm not going to talk about it. But someone doesn't need to go off about how great and perfect CPA is, when they are very far from it. Get over it..

    BLASPHEMY!

How can you say that the best team in Tennessee is far from perfect? /ohmy.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":o" border="0" alt="ohmy.gif" /> What about the perfect record in Tennessee? They have the best point guard in the state in Hunter Miller, 46 points in a game?! He's a stallion! They have the best 2 guard in the state with David Anderson. He gets them so pumped up and ready to play! When they get going, they can't be beat. Kyle "All District" Reeves is a forced to be reckoned with! It's a shame he was named All 9AA because now he's no longer under the radar. Jake Peterson /wub.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="wub.gif" /> is also a man-child! He is a defensive powerhouse and shoots 80% from the field. To top it off, they have the best post in Tennessee with Z Mason. What a power player! Not only can he drop-step throwdown on you, he can drop the trey-bomb! Along with them and the best coach in the District (who should have won the award), I don't see anyone coming close to them! They could even beat the Fab 5 at Liberty Tech last year by 20+!

  3. Please don't tell me you are that ignorant to think half of the basketball teams in Tennessee don't do that. It's great to be loyal to your team, but the CPA love fest coming from you with your last 2 or 3 threads is a little over-the-top. I have played against CPA every year and Mason and Anderson talk crap on the floor. Mason talks crap every time he scores. Anderson just beats his chest and runs around like an idiot. He single handedly embarrasses that school with the way he acts. CPA rushing the court after winning district and the way the players went crazy...have some class please. All the CPA players were rolling their eyes, shrugging their shoulders, and pointing at their coach when John Pierce won coach of the year. And I don't even want to get into the Z Mason drug thing. Just last week Jake Peterson was on here trying to hype himself up. Spare me the crap about how amazing CPA is in everything they do on and off the court. They are having a great season. They aren't all-world human beings. And until CPA wins the state title, they don't deserve it. That is completely ignorant statement. I promise you their are teams that have worked just as hard if not harder than CPA, and you want to say your team deserves it when there are 32 teams still in the race for it. Your whole post is retarded.

Sorry, Zachary, but CPA isn't the only team in AA that works hard.

  4. haha You would of come in dead last and probably gotten lapped..... TWICE

Be that as it may, 4th is 4th.

But how are the field events looking in the Middle Section?

We know Rogers will win long jump unless someone steps up from somewhere.

CPA returns two pole vaulters and have Parris in discus.

FRA returns their second place finishers in high jump and triple jump and returns their 2nd and 3rd place finishers in shot put.

MLK's returning a lot as well, not sure if it is all that it seems, though, because some of them don't have years listed.

It looks like the Middle was stacked with juniors last year... It'll be interesting to see who steps up this year.

  5. I heard from several people lately about how track doesnt get enough coverage. As a news writer for the Johnson City Press i made a trip to the two teams people are talking about for the up coming season to watch practice. I first made a trip to Brainerd( last years champion)of course like always they have speed but not much depth at all. O Harris looks as good as always doing the hurdels and looks like he has gained more muscle. Didnt know much about the other people but the rest looked pretty fast and was working hard. The next trip I made was to Elizabethton. All i have to say is these guys are loaded with sprinters. From covering football around the area i knew a few of the runners like Justin Fuqua, Derek Carr, and Preston Intaro. They tole me they had a chance to run a indoor meet at ETSU this year and did very well. I also looked around and they had two different shot putters this year and both was impressing coach Presnell by throwing 48 and 49 feet respectively. With the 7 people that has already been to state these guys should be ready to make a run as the states best along with the defending champions Brainerd /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" />

Was this just someone reporting to you or did you actually see them throw that far? If so, where were they last year?

  6. When it comes to the end of the year, coaches will vote on who they think got the most of their team. It is hard to argue against Pierce. It is not that FRA is a team of nobodys, but no one stands out athletically or physically. Kennedy is a nice player and other players do some good things. But as a team they do not wow you, but somehow racked up quite a few wins this year and tied DL for second in the district. Not to say that politics, personalities or even human emotions are never involved. All these things can play a part, though I'd like to think coaches end up voting for their peer who they honestly believe got the most mileage over the course of the year, which doesn't mean they are jealous of someone else's success.

I think that sums up why Pierce won it... And if you noticed, those who were each District 9AA championship game, that neither the women's nor men's Coach of the Year went to the winning team. I just assumed that it was a unwritten rule.

  7. Since TN does not have the shot clock, they have the five second rule. All CPA had to do was guard, and it would have forced the offensive play. Lipscomb was simply trying to get CPA out of zone defense. As a matter of fact CPA pulled a five second call against DL's point guard earlier in the game.

If you truly know basketball, this was not Lipscomb holding the ball...it was Lipsomb trying to force CPA out of zone. CPA chose to sit back, and let the clock tick. All they had to do was step up on the DL players and start guarding. Once they do this, the five second clock starts ticking.

Maddux did the right thing by not taking DL's bait. DL would have continued to play wide out, drive the lane..make points, and draw fouls (like the first 10 minutes of the game).

I thought it was brilliant coaching on both team's behalves.

I wish coacht had a smiley for someone bowing down, because that post was perfect along with yours in the Region 5AA thread. /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" />

  8. "boring" was used only in referring to the act of holding the ball. never in there did i say that the game itself was boring. In fact, it was the most exciting game I've seen this year. (minus the holding the ball parts)

    clear now?

So you "got the analogy", but "it didn't make sense"? Speaking of not making sense...

That makes perfect sense. We all got the comparison of the stall-ball of DL to football with no downs. What made no sense was that said Lipscomb fan somehow put their State Championship team in the thread.

  9. Take it easy man. We all know that some throwers to work very hard to be the best in their area, and we also all know that there are the lazy group of throwers. Nobody here is insulting your work ethic, or that of the good throwers who work to get where they want to be. However, I will say this: By and large, throwers (on a high school level) are the laziest on a track team. Again, there are many that are very good and lift and throw often and commit themselves to getting better, and are not lazy at all. But they aren't as much fun to poke fun at.

Yeah, I see what you mean... It's frustrating having that stereotype.

    But anyways...

Who are the favorites in the field events? I know a there was a ton of people in state that graduated.

  10. Just as the students were in in the game? Are students the only ones allowed to be in the game now?

    sarcasm

Maybe the students are the "great role models"

    /sarcasm

Well, yes it's always been that way, they really are the only ones allowed in the game. If that wasn't the case, I think we would have seen Maddox lace up his shoes and play for CPA or Pierce for FRA.

Seriously a grown man, a role model doing that? That's not what it's about...

  11. How dare fans get into the game... there were students that were not cheerleaders doing the flips too. It was a great atmosphere. Who cares if he did something completely stupid, seemed pretty cool to me.

Yeah, they can cheer, but not get in in the game, on the court.

  12. I didn't see Z's goaltending on Simpson's putback, but what I did see was the classlessness of CPA's fans and players.

Each team's cheerleader's were competing against the other squad on each timeout or quarter change. It was fun to watch each section storm in applause after each stunt... but then a CPA father ran out on the court and slid on his stomach and posed. It was completely disgraceful. The Tournament coordinator and police attempted to find the man but failed because he hid in with the other CPA fans. That's just what I'd want to show as a parent, how to do something stupid and not get caught, what a great role model.

CPA has a team full of great players, no doubt. But you don't need to yank out your jersey and yell and pound your chest when you win... even in a game of that magnitude and under those circumstances. Be classy, show respect for the other team, they pushed you to the edge and you narrowly escaped. It was a great win, but a great game for both teams.

Nonetheless, it was the second greatest basketball game I had ever seen and I'm glad I made it out there to witness it.

  13. Lipscomb is finally coming together and they hit 10 threes against FRA in their semi-finals game. I think that they could beat CPA, but they won't.

DL leads after the half, but CPA wins the game by a sizable margin.

    CPA 68

    DL 55

  14. cpa has a track team? people run at that school? huh

nick winn running the 800 you say.. at blazing speeds... where was he in track last year.. with all this talk he may be X-factor for MLK track

Yeah, they had three pole-vaulters that placed in Middle Sectional and I think one was injured for State and they only have one of them returning.
