Agree, the quarterback situation definitely had a negative impact on the team.

Don't understand this post as I didn't see any players out there that I thought were out there because of there parents influence except maybe the quarterback mess. Anyway who plays is Smith's call and surely he is not that easily influenced as he seems to do what he wants in other situations reguardless of the outcome so I would think he plays the players of his choice.

In thinking back about the year as a whole, it has been incredible how much capital that a new coach starts with that he used up in one short year. There was a lot of talk and still is for that matter with little results. The kids had better really stink it up and get after it in the off season if they want to win because they will have to overcome more than just the other team.

Would have been nice if Coach Smith had put in some discipline.

It was such a let down this season that it is hard to talk about next year. If the AD / School board had any sense they would cut their losses and let Smith go now as he is not going to manage games any differently then he did this year and Science Hill doesn't have enough talent to overcome his play calling. Unfortunately expect more of the same. Seems that the majority of people I talk to both in and out of town have the same opinion. Feel sorry for the rest of the coaching staff.

Interesting post but I haven't anything to suggest he is a good game coach. Same mistakes repeated over and over.

The talent was there this year . It is how you use it that counts

Agree that certain players should have done better during the year but your better players have a better chance to get better results. Should have given the ball to Solomon more last night and all year long. A very good player who was not used properly all year to the detriment of the team. Coach Smith has been a bust as a game coach.

Coach Smith seems to lack the patience or self control to win the tough game. Look how many touches Phillps had last night for South, how many Sensabaugh would have had if not hurt, Baker at THS. He doesn"t ride his horses like he should, been that way all year and has turned a possible 7-3 to3-7. Just takes too many risks for no reward.

Afun game to watch till the third quarter if you were a Topper fan. Science Hill offense gave up 28 points to a good defense. Three picks and a fumble. Two of the Tribe's offensive td's were from a very short field. Thought the Science Hill defense did a good job. Held Sensabaugh to his lowest output so far. Held down the running game over all considering the positions they get put in. Great effort by Solomon. Don't know why he didn't run the ball 30 times. That brings up another subject, the offensive braintrust for SHHS, missing in action when it comes to crunch time. Maybe the administration should check on the return policy is on a slightly used head coach. best of luck to the DB team in the playoffs.

Good week of practice. Players put in the right positions. Starting to see what could have been. Good enthuiasm from a team that has been under a dark cloud this season. No blow out tomarrow night either way. This could be a good one. The HILL in a close one.

At some point moxie becomes foolish. In the Jeff Co. call, You have a great punter who has been pinning teams back all year. A defense that has the has achance to get you the ball back with a short field to get some more points before the half but you chose to call a pass play between a quarterback and recivers who have been having a hard time connecting. So instead you give the ball to Jeff Co. with the short field and a 14-0 game becomes 14-7 , a completely different game. The pass interference doesn't hurt as bad on their 20 instead of ours. With Trent and the fake punt, he always has the option of the rugby style punt. Sometimes the reward is not worth the risk, its about the W not how many points you score. No BCS here.

Don't think a change would take 8 years if Smith continues with some of the calls we have seen so far this year.

I don't expect to see any changes in the platoon system this year. Coach Smith has come to the conclusion that he has the only top atheletes in East Tennessee that are not tough enough to go both ways. Go figure. Don't think there will be any significant changes on offense either. This is a team with its back to the wall. Needs to focus on this game only, forget points, yards of offense, DB , playoffs and everything else. Just need a win at this point. Pray for impulse control on fourth down by Coach Smith.

The reality is that the Science Hill offense is no better after week 7 than in week one. No personel adjustments. The reality is that Coach Smith cannot come to grips with the fact that he doesn't have the players to run the system he wants to. It appears that the system is more important to him than wins. The reality is that his platoon system does not let Science Hill keep all of its best players on the field at one time putting them at a disadvantage. The platoon system came into being because at the South game SHHS cramped because they were so poorly conditioned prior to the season. The reality is Coach Smith probably doesn't have the capacity to change. And the worst part of all is that the Seniors have seen their chance for a strong season go up in smoke for reasons largely not of their own making. Pray for a miracle turn-around. Hang in there Toppers!

Hard game to call. If Coach Smith goes wild with the pass and it is as poorly thrown and caught as it was last week it will be a very long night for the Toppers. The defense is good but that would put too much pressure on them. If Coach Smith goes with the run say 70% of the time it just might be a good game and surprise a few people. Hope the right people read this post. Go Toppers!

The Topper offence decided to revisit the South game/ Coach did. Need to be realistic about how much talent he has to run his system. Too much talent being wasted on the offensive side of the ball. Definitely some poor play calls. Great defensive play overall. Life is looking up for GC & DB. Kudos to THS.

I have to disagree with that pick. Toppers had a good week of practice, looked sharp on offence and defence. Really don't think the Hill is over looking THS or taking them lightly. There is definitely more to SH than Soloman and it will show on Friday. SH 28 THS 7. GO TOPPERS!

Not hearing much out of Sevier Co. I think the Hill has a good offensive outing,, starting to click and becomes less dependent on a stout defense. Expect the team to be sharp and start the long road back to being a contender in the conference. SH 35 SC14 GO TOPPERS!

Don't think the rain favors either team. Mo West with turnover issues in first two games and the Hill with the spread. Believe that Science Hill with a solid defence and improving offence takes this one by 10.

Back to tonights game. I am really interested in the play calling by Coach Smith. Will tell alot about if he is a systems guy or has the ability to see and adjust to the talent he has. Think the defense will do ok. Either way think the toppers win fairly big. GO TOPPERS!

The Norris kid is a long way from being ready for prime time. maybe in a couple of years. No help right now.
