  1. Just got back...been all over Tennessee! Thank you technology for cell phones (and a few buds for keeping me updated). I owe the Indians an apology. In my heart, I did not think they had the commitment to gut out a win like this. I knew the Indians were big enough, strong enough, fast enough.... It's just been so long since I heard that Orange and White heart thumpin! Congratulations boys, not too many teams in 1A or 2A better than Coalfield. Watching the spring scrimmage in Monterrey in the spring, then the Greenback game, and the Williamsburg game....Oneida is on the rise. Keeping working Indians, tommorrows another day to get better! Also, congrats to Champ and the rest of the boys (now men!) from the championship team. I've never seen the stats but I bet 98% of high shcoolers never even get a chance to play in a championship game. Wish I had been there to give you a cheer!
  2. Yall got me all jacked up talking about football, I put in some old film of me playing ball. I take back what I said dadgumit....I was pretty darn good! I wish I could play one more!
  3. Man Kaz, as long as the boys play hard all four quarters! That is all I care about. It kills me when a team, any team, I wont use any names here.... (University of Tennessee) plays without drive or passion. I can't watch it. To waste time, especially football time!!!...wow, that is a sin to me. I really hope Oneida comes out and plays strong all game long. I'll be happy no matter what if that happens....you all can quote me on that! I know Oneida's line is big and strong enough to stay close, but the boys are gonna have to play smart and be mentally tough all night. Beyond the rivarly stuff, Coalfield is probably about as good as Grace. If the Indians want to get back in the State discussion, it starts Friday! Also...before I head out! Polls are only good for hanging flags and traitors! I know Oneida is ranked pretty high, whatever! 90% of them folks haven't seen an Oneida game this year. You win a championship on the field....Roll Tribe!
  4. I grew up in a town of 400 folks. Not another town for 15 miles in any direction. For homecoming, we would have a parade! Fire truck, the band, even floats created by each class. Half the town was in the parade, the other half was watching No Joke. Football is definately huge in Texas. But that was back in the last century when everyone was still listening to cassette tapes! I suppose being the only Scott Co team in the district, I forget that theres not much love lost between Coalfield, Sunbright, Wartburg and Oliver Springs. Also, I think your 100% right in that this is one game on the schdule. A good friend of mine played in the Coalfield/Oneida game in 1988. The Indians won that game, but got upset in the first round of the playoffs while Coalfield won their playoff game and played on. It's a game you want to win, but it will not decide the season. I also know that a majority of folks on both sides of the county line have a good deal of respect for each other and the most important thing in football should be learning how to be a good man/husband/father/employee. I was an average football player, but a bunch of tools I learned in football help me to this very day to be a better man! (still have a lot of work to do though! )
  5. Kaz, I heard a tale about a wild mob after a basketball game in 1972 or `73. but I just came off a Santa Claus post, had to keep it positive brother! Wish I had seen your post and had more time to talk about it. Both these teams know each other very well. It's gonna come down to execution. I wish TL had another year with this group, but it is what it is. Speaking of TL, One interesting match up not really talked bout is the coaching. Two of the best coaches in TN going at it. Coalfield will hit those short slants and posts, hard to defend especially with their power running game. I think Coalfield will at least score 21 points, at least! The Indians will have to play TL's defense at a very high level all night to give the Oneida's offense a chance. Adding Noah and Cheetah to this game is huge, could be the two fast kids in Scott Co. But, I still think Oneida will need some breaks AND then take full advantage of those breaks to get a win here! Gonna be lots of folks watching. Should be a playoff type atmosphere!
  6. Brother, Coach Quarles is the man! Maryville IS the role model on playing hard, aggressive team football with Pride Class and Charcter. Should be a good game. Wish that kicker from Farragut would sign up at UT.
  7. Dang, that pretty intense. My senior year, we beat a team our team had not beat in 16 years. That Sunday, at a church folks from both towns attended, there were 3 fist fights in the parking lot. 3 fights, by grown men, two days after a high school football game AT CHURCH! All the Morgan Co schools dislike Oneida, but especially Coalfield. Oneida could go 1-9 but if the one win was Coalfield, folks up here would say..."yeah, it was a pretty good season!" Suprisingly in a good way, both teams play honorably. It's chippy out there and I can imagine what is being said, but both teams don't cheap shot each other. Or at least the games I have seen since 2001.
  8. I know it's not Halloween yet, but I hope the Indians get an early Christmas in October. If Oneida wants a win, they can't be playing like no Santa...fat, jolly and giving out presents all night. Got to mean like the Scrooge, greedy and stingy. Coalfield is too good, Can NOT give up a thing, plus gotta keep everthing Coalfield gives up! Aint gonna be not Christmas feast out there. And throw in some Grinch too...let that ole Orange and White heart grow a few sizes. That wouldn't hurt a bit! I hope when the party is over the Indians are Rocking around the Christmas tree and not singing Silent Night! Man, I have a long drive to and from work!
  9. Kaz, I am with you (in spirit at least! I've got to get a different job so I have more coachT time!) What an Awesome game coming up. Not just the huge rivalry but the playoff implications for lots of teams...Greenback, South Pitt, Grace even pujos Bulldogs. Dang, lots to play for, besides braggin rights and the district championship! Should be big crowd, hyped up, nachos flying popin out the concession stands like Mexican jumping beans! Got to love High School Football!
  10. I was gonna watch a tape of the game and pretend I was there...but I know there will be a ton of nachos left over in the concession stands....the lie would never work! Shoot guys, these teams know each other. Oneida has 2 four year starters and bunch more 3 yr starters. Coalfield is gonna play lights out, all four quarters. Coach Henry's got that West Coast style offense which is leathal. Should be hard hitting and competitve. To me, it comes down to Oneida playing like they did against Williamsburg and Coach Lamberts Defense. If the Indians play smart and take every inch they can get, The Indians have a good shot at the victory. Coach Lambert is very good at calling a defense but the Indians are gonna have to gut it out. Coalfield will not back down one step. This is a game worth playing. These are the games you want to play in. I would kill to be on the field (of course, if I was...I would probably get killed!) Just know, I will be lighting up some cell phones all night!
  11. Don't sweat it brother, That's a very good pick. There arn't too many teams in 1A or 2A better than Coalfiled, so I hope your right...in that the Indians hold em to 20 points!
  12. I hope we get a great game Friday! More like the game two years ago than last year! Last test before the playoffs and it's gonna be an all niter! Roll Tribe! Either way boys, I'm heading out Thursday to the Music City to watch my beloved Steelers play the Titans. Then taking my beautiful wife to watch Gary Allen sing country music on Friday. The only football I will be seeing Friday is txts on my cell phone! It was a tough choice, lot's of serious deliberation, but I chose my wife over the game.
  13. I'm 100% sure this game will be won or lost on the line. Coalfield will easily have the best line the Indians will see until the end of the season. Extremely tough row to hoe for Oneida. The Indians will have to be strong, tough and smart all 4 quarters to stay close in the game.
  14. yeah pujo, I think the Indians were kinda peeking around corner at next week. Defense looked great, Offense kinda just did what they had to do. Can NOT start off slow next week. I'm hoping Oneida steps up and makes it a great Friday Night tackle football game next week!
  15. Great job by the Indians. Kinda a crazy game. The Oneida Offense started off the first two drives pretty well, but fumbled each time as they were driving. (Note: The first fumble was the lines fault, completely missed a blocking assignment....common man!) Couple more drives smothered by holding/illegal shift penatlies. Left too many points on the field but overall nice running/passing. Oneida Defense looks great but OS was a bit chippy. One of the Bobcat linemen got ejected! No idea what that was about. Either way, the defense looks as good as it ever has. I shouldn't type this, but the High School Refs have looked really good this year. I don't recognize some of them but the zebras are doing good work....at the HS level. Having said that...Middle School Officiating is a joke. True Story, I was at a middle school game, standing next to a coach from the other school and he stared apologizing about how bad the calls were going against Oneida. Just call the game, don't try to "equalize" the play on the field. Band looked great. Didn't know Mr. Bernard is DR. Bernard! Dang brother...pHD! Not sure who the folks are at OS whose backyard faces the field. Sweet location! On to next week. Can't leave ANY points on the field next week...assuming we can find some!
  16. I think basic cat insurance will pay 10,000 catnips for a lost limb. 15,000 for a lost tail!
  17. Hey Crow, If you have facebook account, look up "OHS Indian Radio". It's Tim and John L doing a play by play for every game. Not sure who is actually typing the calls....cant be either of them boys cause I know they cant spell! You'll hit your refresh button about a million times but it's almost as good as the radio.
  18. Brother, I spent way, way too much time out in the hay fields although, to be honest, I was driving an air conditioned tractor or front end loader stacking up the big bales. Yeah, it was 16 hour days...but it was 16 hours spitting sunflower seeds and listening to Buck Owens and Johnny Cash! Early in the week is a tough time to get on coachT for me but I'll be at the game tonight. This is time of year to be dialing up the intensity. I hope Oneida comes out ready to go and puts the tomahawk down. It's gonna be fun!
  19. Great coach, great man. Every minute of practice is golden. Wish these boys had another year with TL, but it's better to praise the time we have! I really hope the Indians come out ready to compete at the highest level they can play too. If the Indians play hard, smart football all 4 quarters and loose, oh well, back to the weight room. Just be consistant. I feel like the boys turned a good corner the second half of the Cumberland Gap game....but I'm using words like "hope" & "feel"! We'll see tonight if the Indians are staying the course!
  20. I heard that about the HS, very cool. I hope Oakdale gets a chance to run off some wins. Be nice to see the middle school at Jacksboro here in a few weeks.
  21. All work and no play is like....well, its like all work an no play! Another excellent test for Oneida. Tougher opponent than last week and on the road. Ramping up the competition. TTUBobcat is 100% correct about OS getting up for this game. The Bobcat's have not have a banner campaign this year BUT what a nice feather to stick in your cap....a win against Oneida. This game will be a good indicator to see where on the warparth the Indians are. Perfect practice makes perfect. I've seen a few of Coach Lambert's practices. I'm sure he's stokin the fire as much as can!
  22. He went on the Children's just for a precaution...I didn't see what exactly happened, I think it was a hit during a kickoff but he walked off the field at half time. Coach Sexon will look at the film.
  23. Shoot brother, I hope Oneida wins by 40, But this is not our daddies Oneida Football Team. If Im gonna cherry pick, I will choose some boys from 72, a couple from 92 and 98. You know, Coach Jimmy May was an All-State QB back when he was a player. But, doesnt matter, those boys are gone. Wish we had more time, it's 11:57 and Cinderella is getting jumpy. Better freaking put the hammer down, big storms a commin!
  24. Tell all your boys down there in Greenback, I am proud of them. Dang brother, ya'll went down to the wire with a team that has a serious chance at the 2A crown. Not bad for pack of wild Cherokees!!!
  25. This game will be futher up the ramp. OS hasn't played Wartburg yet so If the Bobcats are gonna have any hope of the playoffs, they have to win this Friday. I'm sure they will come out Wolverine style. It's a road game against a team that beat the Indians twice last year. The Indians will have to prepare like they did last week. Keep working hard all day and playing hard all night!!!!
