  1. You're welcome! I do what I can to help with basketball. I know how difficult it is to compile all those schedules and keep them updated.

  2. The Morristown West/Memphis Central AAA semifinal in 2010 was one of the most exciting games I have ever witnessed.
  3. Windle left Lenoir City for the same position at William Blount. LC is searching for a coach. WB has landed a quality one.
  4. I missed 2nd half. What happened to Riverdale? More specifically...what happened to the Petty girl?
  5. Jeff County is good, but it is just so hard to win at Topper Palace. I say East, Dobyns-Bennett and Science Hill advance to semis. Cherokee/Boone is a toss-up, even in Rogersville. Morristown East and Science Hill will likely play for region crown. Having said that...it's why we play the games! Good luck to everyone.
  6. Hey all... Here's an update on the Westwood/North Greene situation. North Greene won this morning by forfeit (thus 2-0 on the CoachT scoreboard). The Westwood team no showed, never returned phone calls and finally withdrew from the tournament. Cocke County High School will fill Westwood's spot. They will play tomorrow in the loser's bracket against the loser of South Greene/Rockcastle, KY at 11:30 a.m.
  7. Anyone know how Sevier County is doing in the Hart County tournament? Scores and opponents?
  8. More postponements due to the weather. The following games for December 14, 2010, have been pushed back... Sevier County @ Jefferson County Morristown West @ South-Doyle Make-up dates have not been announced.
  9. Morristown West v. Unicoi County has been postponed due to snow. Make-up date is still TBA.
  10. IMAC games for tonight (Tuesday, Dec. 7) have been postponed due to inclement weather. Morristown West @ Seymour Jefferson County @ Morristown East Cocke County @ Cherokee Will post the make-up dates when they become available. At last report late this afternoon, Sevier County @ South-Doyle is still on. .

  12. Hey OHS... Here's the IMAC standings for everyone (you had them right). Overall record is listed first, followed by record in district play. 1) Sevier County (7-2, 5-1) 2) Morristown West (6-3, 5-1) 3) Jefferson County (5-4, 5-1) 4) Morristown East (5-4, 4-2) 5) Seymour (3-6, 3-3) 6) Cherokee (3-6, 1-5) 7) South-Doyle (1-8, 1-5) 8) Cocke County (1-8, 0-6)
  13. There's no use in starting a new thread on this because you either don't read what I write or you don't listen. You keep saying I am using the same excuse of "no competition in Tennessee," when I keep telling you it is not a competition thing. Morristown West has plenty of in-state competition on their schedule. I have presented that evidence twice by looking at the first four games on their schedule alone. The trips, whether to Missouri or Arizona, are just an opportunity to play schools from different parts of the country. There's nothing wrong with that. It is also a chance for the players to travel, and unfortunately, there are some that never get an opportunity to see life outside East TN. And I only brought this up on this thread to defend not only Morristown West, but Memphis Central and ANY OTHER SCHOOL that wishes to travel out of state and play in a national tournament. I see nothing wrong with it at all. Good luck to Central.
  14. Haha, wow. Just wow. You have totally whiffed on everything. First of all, Johnny Galyon is not "new" to Morristown West. This will be his 12th season as coach. He has a record of 267-69. And he's not taking his team to Missouri to compete for a state championship. He's taking them to compete in a tournament that has schools who won state championships in the surrounding states the previous year. I see nothing wrong with this. And I just showed you in my previous post that West High is not "too good" to play with competition around here. Let me repeat their opening schedule...I will do it slowly and in all caps so you can understand...AT CAMPBELL COUNTY...AT SOUTH GREENE...AT OAK RIDGE...ELIZABETHTON. For those not familiar with East TN basketball, three of those teams are routinely in Murfreesboro in March. And you can stop with the "Podunk" comment. You have obviously misread and spun that one to suit your own skewed reality. And if my post goes on a lot of message boards...it is because you put it there to spread your fodder.
  15. And by the way, "my argument continues to be the same" because you have yet to refute it. Telling someone they are wrong and accusing them of being a coward does not win arguments. And westtnballer's points to you are all the same as mine. Yet, you tell this person good points and accuse me of having a "hurt conscience." I argue it is a reward for the players and program, and a chance to play in front of D1 coaches who attend these national tournaments. All of these are the same points westtnballer made to you earlier.
  16. You can spin this anyway you want. I don't have anything on my conscience. I think it is your tired argument that people are exhausted of reading. My explanation didn't work (FOR YOU) last year because (YOU) refused to believe that a school simply went out of state to reward its players and showcase the team in front of D1 coaches. I don't understand why you continue to perceive that teams who play out of state are running from others? For one, last year's Morristown West team would take on any and all comers. I am sure this year's team, while much younger with four starters having graduated, would do the same. Second, Jefferson County High had scheduled a tournament in Hilton Head, SC, this year as a true reward to its players. They even called it such. Unfortunately, I believe that trip fell through. But still...nobody is running from in-state competition, certainly not Morristown West OR Memphis Central. Why can't you just understand this? Let me give you another example...Morristown West's schedule features in the FIRST FOUR GAMES OF THE SEASON: trips to Campbell County, South Greene, Oak Ridge and playing Elizabethton in their backyard at Happy Valley tournament. Campbell is a solid program in District 3. The others are all state powers who have been or were at the state tournament last year. They are working on scheduling the Science Hills, Dobyns-Bennetts and Maryvilles of the state for the coming years. What more do you want??? Oh, more proof you ask? How about the fact that they have participated in the Greene Bank Ladies Classic in Greeneville. A tournament that is one of the biggest events in girls basketball in the state of Tennessee. Oak Ridge, Cleveland, Mount Juliet, Wilson Central, South Greene, etc. have all been featured in this event. Why, in just one year Morristown West faced Shelbyville, Dobyns-Bennett, South Greene and Maryville at this tournament. Again, last year, the girls at West High didn't run from anyone. They played and beat Walker Valley and Memphis Central at your precious BORO. They fell to a really good Riverdale team. And Morristown West didn't need any invitation to play at the BORO. They earned their spot there, just like the rest of the teams. Besides, the whole intent of my argument, which you have obviously missed, is that whether it is Morristown West or Memphis Central or any school in A or AA, if they have the opportunity to go out of state to play in a tournament, why shouldn't they take the opportunity? It is a chance to showcase your team elsewhere. I don't understand why you have such a problem with this. In the end, the teams that are good enough play in the "Glass House" for the ultimate prize (state championship). They are put on display for the entire state to see. But I am sure there are supporters of Dallas Skyline High School in Texas griping about the fact their team went to Phoenix, AZ, and beat a team from Tennessee.
  17. Wow, just take a shot at everybody while you're at it. I am sure there are some class A or AA in Podunk, TN, who have some "shady" dealings, too. The school in District 2 you are referring to is Morristown West. They did not go to Arizona to find greater competition. Rather, it was a reward for the team after much success the previous year. Also, it was a chance for these girls to represent the state in a national tournament. I am sure the Memphis Central fans on this thread would agree with me on that. It's not a competition thing. It's an opportunity to put the players in the spotlight and, one hopes, get notices by D1 colleges. As for this year, Morristown West is going out of state again. They were INVITED, and accepted, an opportunity to play in a Tournament of Champions event in Springfield, MO. This tournament invites the champ and runner-up from Missouri, Tennessee, Arkansas and other surrounding states to come play. Riverdale was probably invited being the AAA champ, though I do not know if they accepted. Morristown West is also playing in a Thanksgiving event in Happy Valley. Sorry to hijack the thread. Just wanted to clear that up. Best of luck to Central. I really enjoyed the OT game at the state tournament last year. One of the best games of the event (outside MJ/Riverdale). You guys have an amazing team.
  18. An early tilt with the Morristown West Lady Trojans in the Happy Valley Classic should give a good barometer about both teams and their season outlook. Obviously, MoWest has lost a LOT in terms of the four graduating seniors. However, there is plenty of talent returning from last year's team. And MoWest is expected to reload as usual, though the talent will be young. Galyon and Dugger know each other well. I look forward to watching this game.
  19. Any idea on who is the front runner to take this job? Obviously, whoever gets it is inheriting a very solid program. Hard to believe all the turnover in coaching this year at the prep level for TN. Two of the eight AAA state tournament teams are getting new coaches. Unreal.
  20. Enjoy reading your comments and most of the time info is really good. But Knox Carter has never been in the IMAC in any sport. Your'e exactly right. For two years while Coach Dale Chrisman was still the football coach at West, the Trojans played in the Knoxville district with Knox Carter, Maryville, Knox Central, etc. Knox Carter has never been in the IMAC. As for what this topic is about, girl's basketball, I'm curious to see what everyone thinks about tonight's games in the semifinals and what everyone thinks the order of finish will be after Monday night going into the Region 1-3A tournament. I'll take West by 20-plus over East, and Jefferson County over Sevier County by 8 tonight. I like West to win it, Jefferson County second, East third and Sevier County fourth. There you go. Let's hear your picks! According to the records, Knox Carter was a member of the IMAC (at least in football) for the 1993 and 1994 seasons. In 1993, they were 7-5 overall, 3-3 in the conference. They were 2-4 in the IMAC in 1994. The other members of the IMAC during this two year period was Cherokee, Cocke County, David Crockett, Greeneville, Morristown West and Volunteer. The next year, 1995...the IMAC faded into history with the teams moving into various districts thanks to re-classification. That concludes today's "IMAC History 101." Now...back to the hardwood action!
  21. Volunteer was another option, Raider. But they are on the very fringe like South Doyle. Plus, they played every sport in district 1 except football. So, it was natural to keep them up north. Cherokee, from what I understand, tried to go with them...but Rogersville is in that "no man's land." West and Central, I believe, were considered to some degree. Knox Carter used to be in the IMAC...but that was many moons ago.
  22. Hey Prince, I was told by some of the administrations around the league that South Doyle requested to be moved into the IMAC. The league actually voted them in...and it was surprisingly unanimous. I say surprisingly because, as we all know, Cherokee and South Doyle are a considerable distance apart, and not a lot of schools were happy about it. They also became the target to move into the league after Greeneville fled for AA...haha, just kidding, Barb! But seriously, it was either going to be Doyle or Greeneville when the realignment came. Hope that helps explain it some.
  23. Yessir, Raiderray, that is correct. Sevier has pulled off what is easily the biggest shocker of the post season thus far. Congratulations to Stacy Marine's Bearettes.
  24. The reason they got a bye into the semis was that there were only six teams. And if you give 1 & 2 a bye to the semis, how is that fair to the team that had the same record as the number two team. And if 1 or 2 is not good enough to beat our own 8 or 7 teams, what's the point of them getting to the region in the first place? I have heard this argument before, and my rebuttal question has never been answered....if you are a 7 or 8, you have likely been swept by most of the teams. I say likely, especially the 1 and 2. So what makes the 7 or 8 worthy of another shot to knock off the 1 or 2? I say you make them earn it. District 4's format does this. I keep hearing it is not a fair format. Neither is the current one where the top 2 seeds have NO protection and NO reward for their finish. We were okay with the two teams getting byes when it was a 6 team league before. District 4 has had 8 or 9 teams in it for years, and they still prefer that bracket. If those coaches agree to it, can it really be that bad? Is it not worth it to at least look into it?
  25. Absolutely.... In previous years, the top two seeds have gotten rewarded by a bye - which was an automatic bid to the region tournament. This year, with an extended conference schedule that comprises nearly 60 percent (14 of 24 games allowed by the TSSAA), the reward is playing on one days rest if you make the semifinals, which is the most important game of the year since the winners receive a home region game. Some reward there.... Really, with the nearly two-third regular season schedule comprising of conference games, I think they should've went with the staggered bracket that puts the one and twos in the semifinals. Otherwise you're saying the regular season is meaningless. The real loser may be Jefferson County. They will get a steadily improving Cherokee team that played them within 5 one meeting this year and lost by five at Seymour on Saturday. If they get by them, they will then get either Cocke County or Sevier, who both beat them this year, on three days rest. I also agree with you guys. This bracket and setup is ridiculous. Next year when the coaches meet to discuss tournament formats, dates, times, etc....they need to take a long, hard look at how district 4 does their bracket (which I think is what SportsWriter is referring to). But in that format, the bottom four seeds play to face the 3 and 4 seeds in the quarterfinals. Meanwhile, the 1s and 2s get byes all the way to the semifinals.
