  1. Sometimes I think the "Mr. Football" award has something to do with fame and fortune. Now I'm not saying it applies in this case either way (referring to Ryan). However, I did notice Ben Bartholomew was nominated in D2. His stats as stated on the Tennessean were 412 yards and 2 TDs. Obviously these stats do not reflect the work he did blocking at fullback. And don't get me wrong he's most definately a legitimate UT recruit who is very worthy of his scholarship. But it just makes me wonder if this UT commitment from an affluent private school does not apply in some way to the whole fame and fortune thing about the award. That's just my 2 cents on it.
  2. Independence actually graduated an average amount of players from last year. Most notably on the offensive line positions. But also a handful on defense and a great wide reciever. Independence does have a great back though and most likely will have a great game against AHS. I agree with you also on the part that if Antioch does stop the IHS running game, then it will be a long night for the Eagles. However, I am sticking with my prediction of an Eagles victory by less than 14 points. Oh and on a side note Packfan: Don't put the Krow kid from Brentwood and Becker from Ravenwood on the same level when talking about dual-threat QBs. I think you might have disgraced the Becker last name..... Krow is not anymore of a dual-threat QB than Smith's recruit last year at QB for Independence.--2 different extremes however
  3. This should be a very good football game. I hope Independence does not get too over confident after beating a very young and sub par Gallatin football team. However I do feel Independence is the better team between the two. This game will be decided by less than 14 points in favor of Independence.
  4. Indy does have a talented team, however it was the lack thereof in the Gallatin team that lead to the lopsided victory by Indy. I will say it looked like the Gallatin team had a lot of youth.
  5. Should be a real good game. I give the coaching advantage to HLHS. However I give the scoreboard advantage to Franklin. Franklin by 7, lead in part by their defense and run game on offense.
  6. Well I'm not sure how much we can base off of the Independence v Gallatin game. Another poster said that Gallatin looked like a JV team and I couldn't agree any more with that. But this should be an interesting matchup.
  7. Well I guess you haven't been involved in going over a scouting report for a team's next opponent. Because if you had you would most certainly know that you do scout against a particular running back as well as against the running game in general. To elaborate: you identify his number or possibly even name when watching film and going over the scouting report in preparation the week before the game. And no i do not think coaches get on here and find weaknesses against their opponents. I was being sarcastic. Wait, take that back there was one..."Batman Was A Tree Hugger," if I remember right....Nevermind, I'm not sure what he did to be honest with you. And there was no reason to mention Ravenwood and Northeast. I think I got my point across with the other 8 schools. And this thread is open for anyone to read not just you Tnsparty, that is why I posted the stats.
  8. Well I'll let you be the judge of inconsistency then. But let's take a look at some of the stats that have been put up by the running back this season. www.tennessean.com> - vs. Brentwood Academy 8-9, 1 TD - vs. Montgomery Bell Academy 8-15 - vs. Franklin 8-26, 1 TD - vs. Brentwood 12-45, 1 TD vs. - vs. Dickson County 18-172, 2 TD - vs. Centennial 32-209, 3 TD - vs. Columbia Central 17-162, 2 TD - vs. Memphis East 22-151, 2 TD Now I post those not to take anything away from the kid because he is one heck of a running back, but that maybe the coaches at the first four schools knew something that every one else didn't know. In other words as to how to stop him. I will not go over the Eagles "obvious" weaknesses. I would hate it if a coach from Gallatin got on here and read them and schemed against them as a result of the post. Now that would be an awful thing to happen. You wouldn't want such a thing to happen to the Eagles, would you?
  9. As stated in a previous post the stats for Independence's running back have been inconsistent (injury or not) throughout the season and last season for that matter. If Gallatin is able to stop him I will change my earlier prediction of an Eagle victory by 10 to a Gallatin victory by a small margin. However, if Gallatin fails in their attempt to stop him then the Eagles will be victorious by 10. Also, Gallatin would need to take advantages of the Eagles weaknesses which are obvious (no need in going over) in order for them to come away with a win. I still believe that the Eagles are flat out the better team, but anyone can loose on any given night. Should be a great game.
  10. Bottom line..... if Chris Jordan plays and he's 100% BA wins by 28. If he's not 100% or doesn't play BA still wins but only by 14.
  11. Is coach Bone still over at Page High? If so, how's he doing?
  12. Should be a good game. Overton as a team will rush for 200+ yards on Franklin. However in a very close game that could go either way I am picking Franklin by 7 with a ton of uncertainty.
  13. I actually agree with you to a certain point. However having talked with many "football intelligent" people( high school coaches, college coaches, college football players, and football fans) outside of the state of Tennessee about high school football in middle Tennessee the only schools that 90% of them have heard of are Brentwood Academy, Montgomery Bell Academy, and Riverdale. I agree though state championships are not everything but they are a big factor in considering who has the most football "tradition" in middle Tennessee. And community support does not give a school "tradition" atleast in a positive manner. What if I went to a small, first year school my freshman year and upon graduating after 4 years my football team had gone 0-40, however the entire community shut down every Friday night to go and watch us play (loose). Well I guess you could argue that's tradition............hmmm...... More importantly... Independence will win this game despite having no playoff experience. They are flat out the better team. And another thing most of this Gallatin team has not even played in a playoff game on the offensive or defensive side of the ball. As evidence the size of the graduating class last year. Look for it to be a 10 point win in favor of the Eagles.
  14. No I'm pretty sure Brentwood Academy (10 state championships), Montgomery Bell Academy (8 state championships), Battle Ground Academy (6 state championships), Riverdale (4 state championships and almost all coming in the last decade), and probably more have greater football tradition in middle Tennessee than the Gallatin Green Wave who have 3 state championships. This is not taking anything away from them but these other schools have better and more prestigious football tradition in middle tennessee.
  15. White Station not making the state championship in the last decade is due to the strength/ dominance of region 6. However that changes this year!
  16. I'm at a loss of words on what has occured tonight with Ravenwood being eliminated from making the playoffs. However many thoughts do come to mind......
  17. Congratulations Independence. The next three weeks are yours for the taking....
  18. Does this mean Ravenwood does not make the playoffs barring any upsets( ex. NE winning or Centennial winning)
  19. Just how long has it been since a region 5 team has gone to the semi-finals (I don't remember but it's been a long time!)? And last year region 6 was good but more importantly real competitive, noting that the region champs lost to a team that didn't make the playoffs (Independence over Franklin). And just like every other year a team advanced to the state championship game from region 6 (not region 5). This season I see a region 6 team making the semi final game. However I say that to say that both regions are weak this season and neither region will have a representative in the state championship game, implying that a team from region 7 or 8 will make the state championship game from the west side of the bracket. I just don't see where the debate comes from that region 5 is stronger than region 6........
  20. Franklin by a lot (28+). Centennial does not have the personnel up front to hang with these guys. Although it is a rival.
  21. IHS wins by a couple of TDs. However, Tilghman and company will put up some descent passing stats/points on the IHS secondary. None the less IHS will win the region.
  22. Your comedic personality astounds me. And you are right it is a fact. I will take the liberty and not pleasure you anymore with the facts that lay before both of our eyes and everyone else's. But on to more important things: Independence locked up a birth in the playoffs tonight and with a victory next week a region championship. What they do with the road that lies ahead of them is up to them. I will say region 5 is in a down year as well so that will more than likely play to the advantage of Independence and the other region 6 teams that make the playoffs. None the less, congradulations on making the playoffs for the first time in you school's history (History? 3 years is the history as stated by tnsparty).
  23. I couldn't disagree more. I say that to say: a region 6 team will make the semi finals, but that's due to the downplay in region 5 as well. A region 6 team will make the semi finals and loose by over 30 points to a team from Memphis(possibly White Station). Region 5 and 6 are down this year and it's evident in the play(but region 6 more than region 5 is in a down year).
  24. I agree but Independence has a history of not having the same guy at QB two years in a row (for various reasons). However, if he is the exception it should be interesting to watch him, but I doubt he will be thus making him just like all the rest of them (former QBs at IHS).
  25. Well certainly one team was going to have to win multiple games once region play started and it looks as though Brentwood and Independence (along with Dickson Co.) are leading the pack. Brentwood and Independence have good defenses. Brentwood, however, lacks the offensive fire power that Independence has as of late. However, I will not judge Independence after beating the worst Ravenwood team in the existance of their school's short history. Brentwood's defense will tell us where Independence's offense is at. As for a prediction I am going with a 14-7 Independence win.
