  1. Let's face it, Independence isn't the same team they were last year with the loss of their senior class (especially at the o-line positions and on defense if I remember correctly). However, NE is, well, not ready to compete in this region nor will they be for a long time.

My prediction is Independence over NE by a score of 35-7.

  2. I agree a Blount County school would be something to be reckoned with on a national level. But also a Williamson County high school would have similar success if one existed( Ravenwood, Franklin, Brentwood, and Independence just to name a few). Granted the student population of just those four schools would exceed 6,000 students. They would definately have national recognition in just about all sports though. Just something to think about......

  3. In my mind the region is down, primarily because the traditional powers in the region have average or worse QB talent, and no real "stud" running back.

The talent level will come back, but this is as weak as it has looked in ten years.

I agree with you on that the region is as weak as it has looked in 10 years. However, at the quarterback and running back positions there is talent ( ex. Scott Pettigrew at Independence and Michael Becker at Ravenwood, and even Shane Rayburn at Dickson County), its just that the teams as a whole just don't have it this year. There will be no Region 6 team in the state championship game.

I will say that the three people mentioned above would not stack up against the likes of Austin Everson, T.C. Jennings, or Curtis Steele (just to name a couple), but they are ALL still very good football players.

  4. I couldn't agree with that anymore. The region is down this year from top to bottom, but especially the top 5 teams in it (Ravenwood, Franklin, Brentwood, Dickson County, and Independence). Mark my words now, "Region 6 will NOT be represented in the state championship game this year." I say all of that to say that there is still alot of individual talent throughout the region, just the teams aren't up to par of what they have been in the past.

  5. This will be a big game one way or the other for Independence. I hope they will represent region 6 well in this out of region contest. Also, players: do not allow all of the things that go along with homecoming distract your focus from the game.

I do not know enough of Memphis East to make a predicition.

  6. I play left tackle for Franklin and I have to say it is true the score doesn't show the outcome, and we did get a lot of key turnovers. The things we did really good are capitalizing on the turnovers, and finally getting the passing game back. Jarrel Eaton did an excelent job, and so did Keylo Lee. Im suprised that Matt Worley didn't get a chance to utalize his massive stature Friday. And as for Indy22, I'm pretty sure thats Scott Petigrew and his post was more than helpful in our game preparation. By the way, Independence, talking crap at halftime might have lost the game for you. I hope you coach yelling "23-17!" is happy. And, someone tell Rodney Coffey he did an exceptional job rushing against me.

I was trying to register earlier this month when I had internet troubles, so I realize this is my first post. But, now that im here I'll try to give my insight to the board.

P.S. Congats to Brentwood, I saw the game today on Channel 9.

P.P.S. Raptors, We'll see you later this year ans get whats ours! (no disrespect it was a good game)

Just a few words of advice for you: obviously this website is open for anyone but do you really think it looks good on your football teams behalf when a player gets on here and talks down about another team and what not. Also do you really think that Indy22 is Scott Pettigrew because I along with many other people would beg to differ. But who really knows. So do us a favor and do your "talking" on the field by how you and your team play. Good luck the rest of the season though.

  7. First, I have to restate what I had posted before, that being that REGION 6-5A IS DOWN THIS YEAR DESPITE ALL OF THE INDIVIDUAL TALENT judging by all of the scores throughout the region including this one.

Second, the way Independence is playing now they are going to be on the outside looking in as far as the playoffs are concerned this season. However, they are fully capable of getting into the playoffs, they just need to get their act together and certain people need to start being more consistent.

Third, Franklin seems to have the tools to make the playoffs this season and probably will.

  8. Ravenwood wins this game, however I'm not sure by how many points due to the fact that it is a rivalry game and that changes alot of things. So in essence it might be a close game. The main thing Ravenwood has working for it is that it has one of the best football coaches in the state of Tennessee, no discredit to Ron Crawford. I also look for Michael Becker to make a statement tonight on why he should be this region's MVP. Also something worthy of noting is that neither one of these teams are as good as they have been in the past few years.

  9. The embarassing thing is that "someone," I say "someone" started this juvenille thread to begin with. And about the stealing the hamburger incident, if a student does not have the money to purchase a regular meal from the school cafeteria then a substitute meal is appointed to that person. An example being a peanut butter and jelly sandwhich. So therefore he was not "denied lunch." Stealing is not and I repeat not the answer to anything. And I wonder how much did Independence really miss Zack last season when the whole hamburger incident took place. If memory serves me right the Eagles mass 441 yards on offense without him in the Dickson County game and upon his return against Ravenwood they amassed as astonishing 80 yards as stated in the Independence High Football Media Guide.

  10. It seems to me Independence has lost quite a bit to graduation especially at the offensive line positions. I understand you must move on past this and I feel confident they will. Congradulations on the win against Centennial.

And to anyone who doubts Pettigrew's credibility should seriously consider the amount of education they have had up to this point in their life.

  11. Franklin's Defense: THERE REALLY ARE NO ADJECTIVES ABLE TO DESCRIBE HOW GREAT THEY PLAYED TONIGHT. If i had to guess Ravenwood's average starting field position was on about our(Franklin) 30. And we only gave up ten points... INCREDIBLE. But i have to give credit where it's due and RHS did play a good game tonight. Solid team and good coaching.

    Solid team and GREAT COACHING.
