  1. Great comment and I totally agree! But I would probably have to give MVP to (1) Tiechman or (2) Carden. They are great TEAM players, and their teams are at the top. Kelly has taken his team straight to the bottom of the district. . .

You couldn't be more wrong. Take Kelly out of the picture and they win 4 games.

  2. kelley is a great player, but they didn't win that many games with him. Last year they played better when he was out with an injury and it almost seemed that Mclemore was more important to the team than Kelley. It seems that they are more concerned with getting Kelley shots and point than winning ball games.Great player yes, MVP for the district no.

And thats what you call being biased. I follow all three Franklin area teams (Franklin, Indy, and Centennial) equally and can hands down say after having watched every team in the district play at least once this year, and having watched both Kelly and Tiechman over the years, Kelly is by far superior over the rest for MVP of the district.

And yes they did win that many games with him. McLemore didn't play this year due to the fact that he graduated in 2008. And Kelly won a ton of ball games for them last year too.

  3. I believe that the MVP is the most valuable player and not necessarily the best player. I wonder how many games Brentwood would have won without Tiechman, probably not that many. With Drew Centennial did not even win 50% of their district games. He is valuable to their team, but I do not believe that he should win MVP for the district. Carden for Independance should get votes before Kelley because without him I do not believe that his team would have a winning record. In order to be considered MVP your team should finish at least in the top 2 or 3 teams.

Ok, while the argument for Tiechman is half valid, if Kelly had not played for Centennial, Centennial would have won 4 games +-1! He is hands down the MVP of this district and I think its biased for someone to say otherwise.

  4. I dont think theres any doubt that Kelly has carried Centennial this year. But the fact is they arent in the top half of the district. Any chance of a co-MVP with Teichmann and Kelly?

There could be, but there shouldn't be. Kelly should win this award hands down.

  5. Brentwood has already lost to Indy. I still think Franklin will and should come out on top in the district. However I could also see the scenario where Brentwood, Franklin, and Indy all beat each other once. Which means there would be a 3 way tie for first.

I believe I called this back on Jan. 17 in that there would be a 3 way tie for first place. /hungry.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":hungry:" border="0" alt="hungry.gif" /> While the season is not over it looks as though my prediction was right on the money!!!

  6. Franklin overated big time such big hopes this year iwait they lost to bhs cause haddix had bad belly ,young was suffering from ingrown toenail-well all pundits has indy last this year and where are they now

I wouldn't quite say Franklin is overrated, however I would say they aren't performing up to expectations this year though.

Both Franklin / Brentwood games were entertaining, hard fought, and pretty well-officiated. For my money, Brentwood and Franklin are the two best teams in the district, with Independence being somewhat fortunate to be where they are. Brentwood beats Franklin twice, but has enough respect for Franklin to not especially want to play a third time. A third game vs. Independence is another story. Independence plays hard, and Carden is for real, but a bounce here, a call there, and they could easily have 5 district losses. Can't wait for the tourney to see how it all shakes out.

Tie Breaker? Isn't it still a tie with the three top teams all having lost 1 time to 1 other team. Who is in first right now via the tie breaker? Can someone clarify?

The same thing could be said about Brentwood.

  7. I only suggest you are jealous IF you are one of the people who is constantly bashing Coach Henrie. I didn't say that you "should" be jealous when you have a coach as good as Jay Johnson. Also, you need to compare apples to apples. Indy has only been in existence for 5 years and the first two years were with NO seniors. So, only 3 years with a minimum amount of seniors and they are very competitive. Correct, they have not made it out of districts YET but they will. How long did it take Franklin to make it out of districts in the beginning of their schools existence? I don't know their history that far back but I seriously doubt they went to state in their 5th year of existence!! However, they do have a proven record over their many years. Indy is only at the beginning of their history making. It is yet to be seen whether or not they will be able to build the history of other strong programs in the middle TN area. They will win some and lose some just like any other team in the area. But they are the "real deal" meaning that they should be taken seriously.

Indy made it to regions in 06 and lost to eventual state semi-finalist Whites Creek by 4?

  8. Wow Indy you just keep running your idiot mouth. Stalker? Where did that come from. You are unbelievable, just can't wait till Tuesday. That's all I want to say. Please bring your stupid comments about Haddix, Young and the boys after Tusday night. You have made them even more motivated. I would love to see who you really are. Probably a little punk with nerd glasses and wearing flood pants, with buggers hanging out your nose.

And yeah Indy has never earned anything because they are a "no basketball" playing school with a coach who can't coach.

If I remember right Indy had a really good basketball team a couple of years ago with Kuchar and Co. So I would say Indy is a basketball school as well as an above average football school.

Franklin is still the best team in the district, however they can be beaten and have been. They just don't have the mentally tough leaders that they used to have such as D. Batt, Antonio, Derek Anderson, Jeff Barnes, etc.

  9. I do think this is a rivalry game despite Franklin winning all the games thus far. If you think back over the last 3 even 4 years there has been many close and exciting games between the two, including this one won on a last second shot. However Franklin has and will have bragging rights until Indy can do something about it, which is win one. I just hope some Franklin students decide to show up at their own gym to liven the atmosphere. Good luck to both Franklin and Indy though.

  10. I'm waiting............surprise me! Where did you play?

    Opinions are like b... h...s; everybody has one!! /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" />

You are correct, Northern Iowa has a pretty good history, but Warner didn't get drafted, sacked groceries, got into the Arena League, got into the NFL and the rest is history. /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" />

    PS: I'm for the Cardinals/Warner in the SuperBowl. /smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />

I'll have to tell you some other time. You are correct about Warner but let's stop using the two names in the same thread if it's going to remain open.

    PS: I'm a Warner fan too /roflolk.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflolk:" border="0" alt="roflolk.gif" />

  11. Who made you judge and jury? I haven't seen anything that should close this thread.

If I was football player and loved the game, I'd rather PLAY NAIA/D3 football than go to some big DI BCS college and MAYBE get a chance to actually play football.

Do you think NAIA/D3 football ain't football?

Those Student/Athletes play just as hard as any.

    Bet you didn't/couldn't play at any level in colllege. /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" /> /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" />

PS: Kurt Warner was "sack boy" at a grocery store prior to his NFL career. 1 Super Bowl Ring and playing for another. /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" />

    You would be surprised /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" /> /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" />

But regardless, you have your opinion and and I have mine.

And Kurt Warner played for a nationally ranked team, Northern Iowa, which is D1-aa.

  12. Anybody see the Brentwood / Indy game? Brentwood was up by 10 with less than 5 mins to go, and Indy, while playing from behind, winds up going to the line 12 times in the last 4 minutes. Brentwood shot 7 free throws in that time, no, in that qtr, no in that half, no.....for the ENTIRE GAME. Very strange. Brentwood usually worked it inside, their big man getting most the shots. Indy shots long. Yet, Indy shot three times the free throws. Very odd. Indy played hard, made some shots, and converted at the line, but JEEZ, without many questionable calls going their way, may have lost by 20. Has the game just gotten too fast for these refs, or can anyone ref? One of these guys couldn't make a call until the next play started, often looking confused while making the call. Hopefully tourney refs are more highly rated refs. (They do rate these guys on job performance, don't they?) Opinions?

There were a few missed calls that went both ways. However you can't blame the outcome of the game on them. Both of these teams look geared to make the region tourney. So good luck to both from here on out.

  13. I really wasn't shocked by this decision. I think he has an uphill battle ahead of him, but if I know him he will succeed on into the college ranks. Coach Rector was the best coach this region has had for some time and will truly be missed.

On a side note: the talent he had from the 06 and 07 graduating classes was far superior to what he's had the past couple of seasons, and as a result could have influenced his decision.

  14. So he and Bo Wallace's team (Giles County) are in the same region, and play the same teams, and Bo is already considered a D1 SEC prospect, but the SH qb needs to play better competition? Spring Hill went ahead and played Alcoa for one of the non-region games last year. I'd say he's played some pretty tough competition, as if that mattered to college scouts anyway. If you are good enough to play at the D1 level, you will play at the D1 level, period.

Too much attention has been drawn to this thread for someone in reality will not play higher than NAIA/ D3 football if that. Close it.

  15. Someone correct me if I am wrong (which I am sure someone will) but I believe that Coach Eubanks was the defensive coordinator at IHS when Smith was the head coach. I am fairly confident that Coach Eubanks served as the offensive coordinator the last two seasons.

Is there any word out of IHS as to who might be on staff this year? I know that some of the coaches had to leave the program. Any new additions so far?

    bump

  16. first off they can make the big win, they have kids who have been starting for 3-4 years, AND what makes you think im a fan? if you knew who this was you'd be really regretting all this, you apparently play baseball.. and our football team wasn't good this year because of talent not cause of fans, i was at every game. get your facts straight.

While that statement is true; there is also a lot more to it such as the region was back to normalcy this year after a down season last year when Indy made their trip to state. But this is for another thread and i'll leave it at that.

I still think Franklin will win the region, however Brentwood or Indy could pull it out. However Indy will have to take care of teams like Hillsboro and Brentwood will have to take care of their business against teams like Ravenwood.

  17. Well, don't forget about Centennial. With a Drew Kelly, you always have to put them in there. Especially with Bristow coming soon. I believe someone told me he will be eligible sometime in February. He is the trasfer from BGA. Any word when he will start playing.

Any word on the Hillwood/Ravenwood game. I believe it was at Hillwood and they don't keep an official home book, so it wasn't reported to the Tennessean.

I think that point is very valid, especially after last night.

I'm still not sure about this Franklin team. While during preseason and on paper they are hands down the best team in the district. They have yet to completely show it on the court. They really remind me of the Indy team a couple of years back and we all know what happened to them. But Congrats to the Cougars on the win tonight.

  18. I'd be concerned if I lost to Hillwood. They are bad and probably going to be worse if the kids from North Nashville do not come back.

That's a good point that a lot of people don't realize in that at Hillwood a good amount of the students, especially the athletes, that attend there are not actually zoned to go to the school but are actually "bussed in" from other parts of town. It's funny how that works. /dry.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=" Too bad Williamson County doesn't work like that. There would be twice as many state championships brought back to the county if that was the case

  19. I hear that the more talented younger players are playing more minutes now for Ravenwood, if that is true they are going to take their lumps along the way gaining experience.

Ravenwood has a bright future with a good 10th and 9th grade group.

If I remember correctly this group of 11th and 12th graders had always struggled with basketball (as well as football) dating back to their days at Woodland. I remember talking with a middle school coach in the county saying how much of a drop off it was from previous years. But hey academics is an okay thing to excel at even in Tennessee /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" />
