  1. Well...I always consider it a job well done if I can make someone laugh during the day!!! Welcome to the board and just realize that some on here are WAY too intense! /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" /> This is what I have been saying all along...we need someone from outside the history of the program...I agree totally!! Also, like I said before...if the new coach takes the assistants under his wing so they can learn before they "teach"...then I am fine with them being there...BUT...if the new coach doesn't do that, then I think it's a mistake and there will still be some problems on the sideline.
  2. Legend, after this year...I am used to people misinterpreting what I say and getting mad at me. I don't care...I will continue to call it like I see it. I don't really have a preference. I personally think it would be better for the program right now to hire someone outside of MC football. I understand heritage and the power it has, but...look at Alabama since Bear left. Other than Stallings...duds because they couldn't see the need to get away from a Bama boy for a HC. Sometimes, people can be too close to the program and that in turn causes problems. So, I think it would be better to hire from without...but I guess that's why I am not in the admin.
  3. Hey MCRW... Would it not be better for the new coach to be named before school comes back in session in the spring? (This of course is assuming that the administration already has interviewed everyone that they are planning on.) I would think you would want the new coach around the kids as long as absolutely possible.
  4. Leon...there you go again showing your ignorance. I am not backing down from anything. I don't care who tells whom about what I say on here. I have called it like I see it since the beginning of the season. I will not stop. I said earlier that if Gudger was going to be let alone, then he needs to be gone...for his sake and the programs. However, if a new coach comes in and takes him under his wing, from what dhp has alluded to, Gudger is willing to learn, so he could be a good coach. From what I saw earlier in the season, it seemed that he just added confusion on the sidelines. If the new coach doesn't help to guide the assistants, then they will never learn the traits they need to become effective coaches. Bottom line...if the new coach takes the assistants and reigns them in so they can learn to be effective, then I don't care who the assistants are. But, if the new coach comes in and just allows people to run rampant...yes...Gudger and a few others would be better off to move on. Now Leon, please stop. As far as I knew, DHP and I had finally made each other understand our positions earlier. You on the other hand don't understand at all. /mad.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="mad.gif" />
  5. That's exactly what I have been saying. My fear was that no one would take the time to help him develope because he is a former player and current assistant. I think if the next HC will take these assistant under his wing and help guide them...they will develope into great coaches. If he doesn't and he leaves it up to them, then it would be better for them to move on and find someone they can learn under. This is what I think I have been saying all along and somewhere along the way, it got all turned around into me hating Gudger...WHICH I DON'T!!!
  6. I agree no hope!!! That's what I was trying to do in the first place...now oh so long ago...was trying to offer some constructive criticism. I have no intention nor pleasure in personally attacking anyone! I hope MC gets a great head coach and if he keeps Gudger and the other staff around...he takes them under his wing and helps them to mature as coaches which in turn overall strengthens the team immeasurably!! Gudger is great for keeping the intensity up on the sidelines and he will always be that way. My only thoughts were that he has not been groomed enough to be let loose yet. I have stated many times that I think he can be a good coach...and if the new HC helps him develope into that...THEN GREAT!!!!!! Bottom line is, I want the best for MC football, whether that is a new coach, an old coach, new assitants or the same ones just learning closely with the HC!!! I don't care what the decision winds up being...I will support it either way. I just offered thoughts and then this whole kerfluffle expounded!! UGH! /blink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="blink.gif" />
  7. Like I said before...I just think he needs more time under the wing of a good head coach before he is let loose with the kids!!! That is what I have said before. It looks like he will just be allowed to continue doing the things he has so far and I just think he need more time. I think he can be a good coach with some good guidance. Would you let someone do a job if they had not properly been trained? That's all I'm saying. He needs some more time in a limited role under a good head coach before he is turned loose. Nothing against him. I think once he has the proper "training" by a good head coach, he would be a great coach to have on the sideline...but I haven't seen that he has been an understudy to a great head coach and so some of his decisions during the coarse of the season brought confusion. That's all I'm saying!
  8. Does anyone around here listen at all??????????????I DON'T HAVE A PROBLEM WITH GUDGER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!I have tried to tell this numerous times...but to no avail. I just think he adds some confusion to the sidelines. I noticed that several times this year. I think he needs time in a much smaller role learning under a head coach to become a good coach himself. /rolleyes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="rolleyes.gif" /> You don't know me very well, do you dhp???
  9. Hey RealDeal...you don't have a clue about what you are talking about...so stop. I didn't have any children playing this year or last year or the year before that either for that matter. I am a fan and an observant one at that. There have been numerous posters on this board with much more character than you agree with my posts throughout the year on the status of the football program. So pardon me if I don't give a flying fart in space about your comments...OK?
  10. I don't hate Gudger at all. I applaud his efforts for volunteering...BUT, when I watch every game and it seems that he brings more confusion to the sidelines than anything else, I just said that it was my opinion that the new coach might want to distance Gudger from the kids or at least allow him only minimal contact in the "teaching" aspect of the game until he can be taken under wing and learn enough to be an effective coach. I have always been behind the players...if you have read ANY of my posts this year...that would be obvious to you. I have been saying all year that these kids were very special and no where near average. I think, if the coaching had been there this year, these guys would have only lost two regular season games...maybe just one. But, instead of knowing what kind of posts I have made in the past, you get on here and slam me for making some general comments about an assistant????? Back off Bub!
  11. I agree Bill, this was Joe Dan's second year as an assistant. I agree that the head coach needs to step up and make the decisions...but, once he got pushed out of the way or allowed himself to be pushed out of the way...whichever you prefer, then you have to watch the assistants to tell whether they know what is going on or not...it is my opinion that from watching Joe Dan...even though he was a good player, he is not a good coach RIGHT NOW!!! I think he could be turned into a good coach, but I think it would be best if he were an assistant at a different school to learn the ropes in coaching. I think he is too close right now.
  12. Would you not agree that there are some assistants who would not take kindly to the it's my way or the highway bit?? I think sometimes it is better to cut your losses than to keep volunteers around just because you need volunteers. Especially when those volunteers sometimes seem to be helping the program take large steps backwards from the direction the program needs to be heading.
  13. I don't have a personal problem with anyone...don't read too much into things...you have done that a couple of times on this board. And I don't care which parents were stupid enough to pull that crap. We have way too much ignorance running amuck with our young people these days than to have parents who should know better act like a bunch of morons. My comments about Gudger simply echo what I have seen on the field. He was a good player, but that doesn't make him a good coach...and I think that showed some times this year. I think the new coach would be better off without Gudger and a couple of the other guys. I understand that we need volunteers to help the program. But, at what time do we decide that the not so good things from the volunteers help drag the program down more than having the volunteers around in the first place?? Sometimes we have to cut the rough edges off in order to create a nice, smooth work of art.
  14. JoDan is one of the coaches that overpowered Jason and he also added to the confusion on the field a lot. These things are exactly what you were referring to. He was a good player, but being a good player doesn't always make you a good coach...just ask Michael Jordan.
  15. dhp... I don't know who talked to Legend at the games, but I am one of those on here who said that one of the best moves the new coach could make would be to get rid of Gudger and meybe one more and get them off the sidelines. I do believe that. I think if they are not on the sidelines and at prectices, it will be better for the team overall. Gudger was great to pump up the kids, but honestly, they did a lot of that for themselves. He seems to be very confused on the sidelines and I think that filters down to the players as well. I don't know what the coaches in the pressbox did, so I will not comment on them, but some of the guys on the sidelines such as Gudger and maybe one more need to be gone.
  16. Is this coach Evans??? I mean c'mon!!!! Warning people to stay away from coaching at MC is not helping at all...if that is all you have to say, then please just remain quiet. We need to support whomever gets the coaching position. We also have to realize that coaching is a job. When I started my job, I was told that I would be evaluated for 6 months. If at the end of that time, my bosses thought that I was not doing my job right, they would fire me. Two years is not enough time to turn a football team around...BUT...the record went from 7 wins and 7 wins 3 and 4 years ago to 5 wins each of the last two years with only 1 region win this year. It is NOW that the program needs to be turned around. When the coach makes some of the same bad mistakes in the last game this year that he has made over and over again the past two years, he will be fired...just like if you made the same bad mistakes on your job for two years over and over again...you would be fired. Let's move on from Coach Evans and wish him luck in the future...now let's put our encouragement and good hopes to the future of MC football and support whomever comes in. We need to hope that the administration will make the right decision. I agree with Legend, they need to hire from the outside...it will be better for the program right now.
  17. Gudger... /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" /> I needed that laugh!!! I blew Dr. Pepper out of my nose on reading that one...he he he. What a joke.
  18. The issue here, I think, is not the record, nor the record last year...but it's his decision making. He lost his job against Boyd. You don't take the two biggest offensive weapons you have and play them only on defense during that game. His decisions ALL YEAR were like this. He would do some good things, but then offset them by making some really stupid decisions. Coach E may be a good coach as some have said, but RIGHT NOW, he is not a good HEAD coach. You bring up coaches on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday...pick your coach. If Fulmer, or Dungy, or Spurrier, or anyone else kept making really dumb mistakes over and over again, they wouldn't last either. Those of you from the outside...if you didn't come to all of the games and see every play, then you don't know what mistakes were made. This is the right call. I hope Coach E can coach somewhere else, but now, MC needs to move on.
  19. Yes...I will say that if Joe transferrs, then everything in my previous post is pointless...I think Joe is the future Captain and leader of this team...he can shoulder the load!
  20. I can see good things for next year and I also see some worries. The biggest thing that bothers me is some player development. Some of the kids that get subbed in in odd times wind up not doing well in those situations and bad things happen. I believe that is quietly killing their confidence. I also believe that is coaching...if the coaches will work better at putting the right people in at the right time...again this is what I have been YELLING all year!!!...their confidence will be built up and they will get valuable experience. If someone gets run over on the line and the RB runs 800 yards over them for 5 TDs...they don't learn anything when the coach doesn't take the time to teach them. Don't get me wrong...I am not saying that the problem is the line...I am just using this example to answer your question...this could be said for WR, RB, QB, DB, OL, DL, P, K, S, etc., etc. If the veer is put into effect next year, unless they let the RB and QB develope a significant rythm with a lot of carries...I am afraid there will be "No joy in Mudville" (for those who don't know...this reference is from the famed "Casey At The Bat") Hopefully, the coaches will work hard on teaching the kids while they coach and also sub differently than they have this year. If they do...I think we have a bright future ahead.
  21. Oh yeah, once you said you were joking, then I got it...it just seemd to be so serious to me. Anyway...no harm, no foul. I am hoping that the coaching staff has a good gameplan going into this one and if the kids play as hard as I know they can, we will give you guys a good game and may even steal one from you! /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" />
  22. Yeah...they are a very good team...I am hoping that our play calling will use some passes to joe et. al. over the middle...because that play has been open ALL YEAR and we just used it for the first time last week which happened to result in a 40+ yard TD!
  23. I read your post and I knew who you were replying to...you didn't put enough sarcasm in it man...just chill out. I was afraid that things were getting out of hand...and now they have. Why don't we just say that we both misunderstood each other's posts and leave it at that?? Cool?
  24. Hey nohope... tell Joe to run it hard as he can and run over somebody for me!
  25. I don't think he is even going to dress out...he is medically ineligible.
