  1. Many in Tennessee would loved to have seen Teague go to Tennessee, or even Vandy. Im sure Monte Kiffin is a good coach but did he not coach in Tampas last game? The defense looked terrible. If he did coach then maybe their players got bad on defense for just that one game. Either way he is NOT the best defensive coach in all of football but I would agree that he is a real good coach. As far as Orgeron goes he better be a better D Line coach than he is a head coach. That being said I do agree with you that Tennessee will improve. There is no where to go but up. But why go to Tennessee where they "will be back in the limelight real soon" when he can go to Florida who is in the limelight RIGHT NOW. They won the national championship two years ago and they are playing for it again AND they have almost everyone back next season. While Tennessee fans may not agree with the choice Teague made a very smart choice.

Monte Kiffin is regarded as the best defensive coach in the NFL. You can't judge a guy on one game. In 10 of his 13 seasons at Tampa Bay, they finsihed in the top 4 of the NFL in total defense. FL is a hot team right now, just as UT was in the late 90's. FL will go thru a down cycle as well, Tebow will be gone, Urban Meyer will leave for Notre Dame and they will be back to being an average FB team. All programs go thru it (AL, USC,ND,TX,OK,TN, Oh. St. ) all these teams have been thru what TN is going thru and that is why UT is transitioning to a new coaching staff. I wish Teague the best at FL but I really think with the talent that is already there, he will get lost in the mix. He could play quicker at UT who is in need of athletes and Kiffin has already said Freshmen will get a chance to play. Unlike Fulmer who hardly ever played freshmen unless they were superstars like Eric Berry or Peyton Manning.

  2. What one reason would you give for him to go to Tennessee? They haven't beaten a top 10 team in 9 years, constant problems with the law (even the punter!), new head coach is untested and unproven at best (being a great recruiter at USC is like being a good BBall recruiter at Duke ). He is going to the right place for him and he'll excel academically and athletically. Hopefully playing for a perennial national champion won't be too much of a crippling effect on his career in the NFL. There isn't a spark of interest in Tennessee from any talent in the state of his caliber, much less the nation. The best recruiting class in the nation just finished their senior year at UT, get my point?

Your second sentence shows your lack of football intelligence. I'll answer your first sentence. UT just hired the best Defensive Coordinator in ALL of Football (College and NFL) in Monte Kiffin. In addition, they added one of the best D-Line coaches in Football, Ed Orgeron. I can promise you the VOlS will be back in the limelight real soon. They will end up with a TOp 10 recruiting class this year, just wait and see. Good luck to Teague but I sure would like to have seen him playing in Knoxville.

  3. 1) If Urban Meyer leaves Florida for Notre Dame, I will be EXTREMELY surprised.

    2) Tebow will not be leaving after this year. He isn't even projected as a 2nd round draft pick in the NFL at this point. I'm not saying that isn't wrong with as good as he is, but he doesn't really gain enough by going to the NFL to warrant leaving Florida early.

    3) I agree that UTK should definitely be considered by anyone wanting to play in the NFL, but I can't blame Teague for picking the certainty of Florida over the uncertainty at UTK. I think he'll be a fine CB at either place.

Meyer came out this past week and said "Notre Dame is his dream job.." I would not be surprised for a coach to leave any school for his "dream job".

I agree, Teague will suceed at either school, however, at FL he will just be another player. At UT, he could be a "homestate hero". If local, in-state players come to UT and keep their heads on straight, they are guaranteed to be successfull because the local community (businessmen) typically will hire them for jobs. I see it all the time, Pharmaceutical Reps, Sales professionals, etc.. I wish Mr. Teague well whrever he goes to college though.

  4. Tyler Hood is a great player but it takes more than a couple of people to make a team, I think LC has alot of good players on the team and I say they will go far. Hayden Parks, Coty Harvey, Bobby Ault, Matt Bivens, Jared Hilton, Caleb Mabry and thats just a few. GO PANTHERS!

I haven't seen the Harvey kid play this year. Is he still on the team or did he get kicked off or quit ??

  5. It is chicken and egg, but as someone who's not gotten to coach a game I'd put my money on leadership and interpersonal skills. You can be the greatest wizard with strategy that the world has ever known, but if you're a pure ###### you're not going to have a team to coach. Sometimes assistants at the highest levels can get away with having terrible people skills because their job is almost exclusively focused on Xs and Os (by that I'm lumping in knowledge of technique and ability to coach positions, as well--it's still really about fundamentals).

The thing is, even if you're a total moron with Xs and Os, if you can get kids fired up and know your limits you can buy a few books and plug in a bonehead simple scheme to turn them lose. Most of the "genius" coaches have very thin playbooks. Texas Tech routinely scores 60+ a game with only about 16 plays, which are mostly called by the QB at the line. I've heard of teams winning games against good competition by only running 5 plays all season!

I agree with your post. I do think if a coach is loaded with talent he can rely more on X's and O's than motivation at this level. However, since most HS teams aren't loaded with talent, I'll take the leadership and interpersonal skills and ability to motivate 16-18 year old kids.We have been looking for that type of coach for years at Lenoir City and continue to strike out each time.

  6. yeah coach Kiffin was there today. Not the great news for Coach Kiffen cause Jaques was at Georgia watching BOWL practice I heard. GA, ALABAMA AND TN ALL THINK HE IS five star. GA wants him BAD.

Like I stated in another thread, COach Kiffin is assembling an NFL staff at UT. His father, Monte, is regarded as the BEST D-Coordinator in all of Football (currently with Tampa Bay Bucs). He will know how to coach these guys to get them to the NFL. I hope Jaques will strongly consider this when making his decision.

  7. I did not get the chance to see Teague play live but I have seen clips and he is very impressive. Being a gator fan I am thrill that he will be playing at the swamp. He made a great decision. Tennessee is an unknown...who knows how the new staff will work out at UT and the Gators are playing in the National Championship.

The Gators may be in the NC this year, but I truly believe Urban Meyer will be at Notre Dame after next season. Tebow will be gone as well, probably after the NC game. Kiffin is assembling the best staff in college football. His father, Monte, is the BEST Def. Coordinator in ALL of football, college or NFL. Any player that wants to play in the NFL should be looking hard at UT as Kiffin is assembling an NFL staff.

  8. I completly agree with you GQ is the best coach in the state and thats got no arguement. Yes he is the reason that Maryville keeps winning so much he can coach kids into winners. He has a great system in Maryville. His players stay committed bc they win so many of LC players get discouraged by losing all the time. Coach White ran the LC program into the ground. AS a former player for white i saw first hand at what he was doing to the program. He wouldnt punish the starters if they did something wrong but if a back up or 3rd stringer did it they would get punished like no other. If you look back in 2004 we went to the second round of the playoffs but since then we have won only 6 games in 4 years. As a senoir he kept telling us that we were preparing for the future and then he would leave some senoirs in the game when it was out of reach and sometimes that lead to injury. The McCallie kid(sprained MCL) got hurt in the 4th quarter against Powell when the game was 41-0. Heck he had his star senoirs sit on the bench while the backups and underclassmen moved the ball which shouldve said something but idk if he ever got that when you let the kids have fun with the game they will produce results. This may have been the downfall to this years team somewhat. NO underclass man had expeirence playing OT this year bc he had 2 senoirs playing the position in the 4th. Yes last year we shouldve prepared for the future by playong younger guys more. But I think Zeller will only get better as a coach with this program. He is exactly what this team need.

SO IM OUT YALL PEACE FROM BIGBADCAMERAMAN

GO LENOIR CITY HIGH SCHOOL WE ALL BELIEVE IN YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    PUT ON A SHOW THURSDAY /popcorneater.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":popcorneater:" border="0" alt="popcorneater.gif" />

Coach White was not a bad coach. He was in the wrong place at the wrong time, going from 3A to 4A when LC was reclassified. He was successful in 3A.

  9. Speaking as an LC fan that does know a little about Football, I must say I am envious of the Maryville program and respect the heck out of what they have accomplished. In my opinion, their success is due to 3 things: 1) Coaching (GQ is the best coach in East Tenn. bar none) 2) Feeder program from youth leagues 3) committment from players to be the best. If LC had GQ as their coach, they could probably be 5-4 right now even with their lack of superb atheletes. I think GQ could take average atheletes and coach them up to be competitive. Until LC gets a coach of GQ's level, they will contiinue to struggle because kids do not want to play for a losing program. I would love to see what GQ could do with the LC program. A pipe dream I know but it's still fun to think about....

  10. Yes last years team did not throw any touchdown passes. But we didnt throw any interceptions that were returned for touchdowns. We could run the ball and yes we played on both sides of the 50 yd line but we also had touchdowns runs over 20 yards. Coty the Rb from last year had 5 td runs of over 50. So ill take last years o line over this years any day. And no we werent a offensive juggernaut last year either but we could run the ball. This years o line is a defensive lines dream all small guys with speed. Strength beats speed in the trenches. An one reason we didnt throw any TD was the fact they we could run screens and pound the ball in there. Last years o line was stout we average 6'1" 285 across the line with the biggest being 6'2" 325. This years o line is what 6' 250. Thats not an o line thats a bunch of gloryified fullbacks. And yes JC did play some o line last year due to injuries but he played significant time. I was out there with JC on multiple occasions. AT one game we were both told to stay on the same side together to block and it worked we scored. So JC did play alot of oline last year due to injury but he played.

LC this year has already scored more points than last years team did with 1 game to go. I'll take this years QB and O-line over last years QB and O-line. I will admit Edwards was a threat to take it to the house , however, this years RB's Cook, Coleman are hard runners that can get 3-4 yards on their own and with our O-line being deficient the last few years, thats the type of RB's we need. As far as offensive coaching goes, it's pretty much a wash between last year and this year.

  11. After reading that again, Pantherman85 did Josh C play any o line last year? I don't think he was saying JC plays it this year, just that he was the only person returning that DID play O Line. LC did lose alot of big bodies up front and I don't see alot coming up in the ranks.

JC may have played some O-line last year due to injuries. Bottom line is, this years team has been better offensively than last years team. At least we have thrown some touchdown passes. Last year, I don't think we threw 1 TD pass the entire year, not one. Obviously we're not an offensive juggernaut by any stretch, but at least we play on both sides of the 50 yd. line this year.

  12. Yes it is a David vs. Goliath but LC has a good shot. The one big problem that has plaqued the LC panthers the last couple years is the lack to stop the big play. We have the talent to stop and beat anyone but we can't stop the big play and it kills us every game. This week will finally be the game that LC plays their hearts out every quarter. Yes LC is beat up right now and they dont have much depth but the one thing they do have is heart. Yes they also have one of the smallest o-lines in the region and that is due to so many senoirs playing last year and the fact that they returned only one kid who had any varsity o-line game time and that was Josh Courtney. Last year when i was playing next to josh on the o line he worked his butt off every play and in my mind he was the only underclassman who showed any true will power to play the o line. SO yes its a stretch but I can see this o line protecting the QB. THE main problem that haunts the LC team is the fact the QB has thrown more TD's to the other team than he has to his own (4-3) this will not win you games and the coach shouldve figured it out by now.

Cameraman, you obviously don't know too much about LC or football. First of all, Courtney does not even play O-line. He is a linebacker that plays a little bit of fullback. Secondly, the LC QB's are typically running for their lives as they do not even have time to set up to throw the ball 80% of the time. Therefore, they are having to throw it before they can even make their reads. I will say this offense and O-line is much better than last years offense and O-line. Sorry, but facts are facts.

  13. This week I think that this LC team will pull off a major upset against Maryville. The LC team has this game circled on the calendar. One big reason is the Fact that they want to Beat Coach Nick White in his return to LC. They all know how to beat him and his secondary. This game will be the breakout that LC needs. YES Maryville hasnt lost in over 4 years but they will get upset by a team like LC. They will over look LC and we will take this chance to make a spash on the state scene

    LETS GO LC WE NEED THIS ONE /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" />

NOW IM OUT FROM BIG BAD CAMERA MAN IM OUT LIKE A BAD PICTURE

    PEACE /roflolk.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflolk:" border="0" alt="roflolk.gif" /> /roflolk.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflolk:" border="0" alt="roflolk.gif" />

Cameraman, I'm an LC fan too but I think LC has about as good a chance of beating Maryville as Ralph Nader has of winning the Presidential election. LC is beat up pretty good right now with injuries and they didn't have any depth to begin with. The offense struggles to move the ball due to a small and out sized O-line. They play hard but this is definitely David vs. Goliath.

  14. I must say that some coaches I have seen act like teenagers. THey need to realize they are "Coaches" and chose to get into the profession. IF they cannot handle their temper, they SHOULD NOT be involved with 15-18 yr. olds. The easy thing for this coach to do would have been to tell him to sit down and not play him again. Monday in practice, the kid would have run sprints while the rest of the team was practicing. Teach the kid a lesson without using physical force. Poor decision by the coach IMO.

  15. A victory this week and a huge upset next week will make these seniors famous!

You're really going out there with wish like that one. Mighty Maryville has won 69 games in a row and LC has won 1 of their last 18 games. An LC win over Maryville would take some Divine intervention at the least...

  16. This friday on a football field in the middle of no where will be a game between two teams who are still fighting for a true idenity. Both teams have had their ups and downs all year and both have expeirenced bad breaks that cost them victorys. Even though both teams are 0-5 in the district they both were close to having district wins. LC worst break was at Clinton when three bad plays and a lot of help from the refs helped Clinton beat LC. LC was the better team on the field that night hands down but just a couple of bad calls and plays cost us. Now this week we will end our 20 game district losing streak that dates back to 2005. Our last district win was against South Doyle and we will get the victory this friday. My prediction is: LC 35 SD 21 So who will win you call it .

    GO LENOIR CITY HIGH SCHOOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!

p.s. AS a former LC panther myself I would love to see the victory friday to happen so this program will continue on the right track to success.

SO BRING IT SOUTH DOYLE WE WILL BE READY /hungry.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":hungry:" border="0" alt="hungry.gif" />

I hope you're prediction is right Cameraman. LC needs a victory in the worst way. I would like to see these Seniors go out on a good note as they have endured alot over the past 4 years.

  17. Well he's been around 5 years and thats about 5 years too long. On behalf of the players over the years most of them have played their hearts out, and stayed on the team, but there are some good atheletes at that school that refuse to play for Coach Hutchins. The South Doyle program will continue to be a source of embarassment for South Knoxville as long as this Coach remains, as well as the Athletic Director. Its just so sad that the South Doyle Administration continues to let it go down hill. I guess when the fans quit coming, and the Administration takes a blow to the billfold maybe then something will be done. /unsure.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="unsure.gif" /> /sad.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":(" border="0" alt="sad.gif" />

Based on what I have read from your posts, how does a coach keep his job that long? Do ALL of the players not care for this coach? If so, why do they keep playing for him?

  18. Hope the players (Halls) are up for a tough battle. I expect this one to go down to the wire. So far, Halls has lost any game that is close in the second half. Call it heart, lack of ability, lack of coaching, whatever. Truth is, close in the fourth quarter = loss for Halls. Let's hope that changes, because I expect this one to be close in the fourth quarter.

As an LC fan, I hope you're right Ironman. LC played really well last week vs. Clinton so I hope they can carry that over tomorrow night against Halls.

  19. I grew up around cussing, I am not affected in a bad way. They are just words that have been labeled taboo, so what if he hears them. If your, coach is not teaching the guys the right way to play, and/or not putting your team in a position to win, then he should go.

So what is the coach teaching these young men by cussing at them? That it's o.k. to be talked to that way as well as talk to others that way. Sorry dude, not sure who you played for but I have to completely disagree that it's o.k. for coache's to cuss at their players.

  20. Just wanted to say thanks Clark Duncan for hiring and keeping Coach Hutchins, best decision you have ever made. This decision has really reflected your care and concern, for your High School. A special thanks to Coach Hutchins for staying the past 5 years, what would we have done if you had left. What we would do without the foul language, the consistent losing, lack of respect for players, parents, and community, the relationship between you and the refs, it brings tears to my eyes every game. The great play calling, wow nothing like a 4th and inches you call the shot gun what a genius!! Gosh don't get me started about the 2 plays the team runs every game, you have coached them well. You also have one of the best conditioning programs I have ever seen. Some of you linemen can almost play a whole game without sitting down on the field. I really could go on for days about what a wonderful Coach you are. I know you've got the Maryville game coming up that should be a real barn burner, after all you know the secret to beating them. Oh yeah don't worry about not making the playoffs again, who needs them anyway. My only hope is that someday your children will have a coach just like you! Best of luck for the rest of the season and I can't wait until next year!! Thanks again to the South Doyle Admistration for keeping him around /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" /> /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" /> /laugh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="laugh.gif" /> /tongue.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":P" border="0" alt="tongue.gif" />

Wow, sounds like things at SD are unraveling a bit. If the coach is using foul language, the AD should put a stop to it. I would not appreciate my kid being coached that way. Maybe LC can pick up a win vs. SD in a couple of weeks.

  21. Clinton overlooked LC, you can ask anybody from CLinton that was there, dont forget, LC was winning 14-7! Clinton realized they was playing a better team than they thought, and outscored you all 28-7! Clinton had taken some starters out for the last 7! Clinton was just resting up for next week! Trust Me! Stone is a much better QB then he looked, and remember against powell, our Leading Rusher in the prepxtra will be back! We could of beat you all by atleast 40 with him! night's like last night is when we really need him! But Clinton will be ok, just a little overconfident last night! (and by the way, Running Backs always kill us!) Our defense aint much without Hazelhurst -RB

Clinton could of have scored more, they started running, Clinton has some Class! their not gonna beat nobody by 30 or 40 that is just the way they are, they can score almost everytime throwing the ball! and Running too when hazelhurst is there! but the whole 3rd and 4th quarter they ran the ball, and they dont have the starting RB! and trust me he IS GOOD!!!! clinton could of have put up 40 easy or 50 EASY but they werent interested in that, they just wanted the win! Very Classy Coach! just ask Halls!

Let's not get carried away here. Clinton has a really good team and won the game but LC held them in check pretty well I thought. The first TD by Clinton was as lucky as any play I have seen, thrown up for grabs and scores a TD. LC went up 14-7 and if not for a fumbled kick-off by LC, might have gone in at the half up 14-7. Second half, the score was 14-14. I think Stone is a very good QB and has potential to be a great QB. Good luck to Clinton and I hope they do well in the play-offs this year.
