  1. Let me say that as far as the Boosters are concerned, LCHS is fortunate to have the support they do. The Boosters have raised almost $40,000 in the past 2 years and have funded the teams apparel including practice and workout shorts, shirts, travel bags, sweats, game day shirts, new game jerseys (last year), subsidized over $4,500 towards new weight equipment this past year, and sponsor a $1000 scholarship for a Senior team member each season. Many programs would love to have this type of support from their Booster Club.
  2. I guess winning 54 games in a row and 3 straight state championships would equal my definition of a "machine". Face it people, every other high scholl program may not want to admit it, but we're all jealous of what Maryville has accomplished.
  3. In my opinion Maryville is not as talented as it has been the past couple of years, however, until someone actually beats them, they are the best team around. They started a little shaky last night vs. Lenoir City and did not seem focused. Once they became focused, they were the machine they have always been. It's a program everyone else wishes they had....
  4. Maryville 34 LC 7. Thanks Coach Quarles for putting in your 3rd and 4th string in the 3rd Qtr. to keep this game from being extremely ugly. LC 's first string was finally able to score against your 4th team defense. I think a change is going to have to take place at LC for any progress to be made. 18 losses in a row is a little ridiculous. WHat do the other LC fans, parents think??
  5. One reason there are not more palyers is that the COaches do not endear themselves to the local youth football program. They must realize that these kids are their future and should be helping them any way they can. I know for a fact there is no interaction between the youth football program and the LCHS head coach. You want more players, you need to work from the ground up..
  6. Good points made by both of you regarding lack of discipline on the LCHS team. I have heard some of those same stories. I'm not sure the players have respect for the coaches that is needed to have a successful team. Something must be wrong for there to only be 40 players due to kids quitting and they also discontinued all of their JV games. How will the younger players get any better if they don't play?
  7. Maxi, you make some legitimate points. I don't think there is discipline on this team and I don't think the coach has motivated the parents to be involved (in a positive way). Key word, Leadership. I think there is a lack of it from the coaches to the senior class. Leadership and discipline have to start at the top.
  8. What you hear most of the time is that players have quit because "I don't like the coach..." or "I don't want to play on a losing team.." etc... If I am the coach, I wouldn't want those players anyway. I think kids now days are soft and lazy for the most part. LC had close to 70 players in July and August. Now down to 40. THe soft kids typically don't make it through the summer months becuase they would rather be sitting in their air conditioned house playing video games or on the computer.
  9. At the rate we (Lenoir City) are scoring points, all Clinton will need is a field goal to win.....
  10. Based on what I have observed the past few games, the LC coaches need to get the younger players on the field to get some experience. It's time to play for the future and let the Sophs. and Jrs. get more playing time. THere needs to be a whole new attitude in this program.
  11. I would assume Coachinhoops is talking about the School Superintendent, Mr. Miller. I have heard the same thing, that he couldn't care less about sports programs in the LC Schools. It definitely shows. It would be the same thing as a University Presdident not caring about the athletic programs at their University. With this said, I still think you can win or at least be competitive at LC in Football with the right people in place. THere is talent on this team to at least be somewhat competitive, rather than get their brains beat in every week. Something good needs to happen so the kids believe they can win.
  12. It's great to have huge OL if they block. LC can't seem to generate any offense. It's hard for the QB's to throw the ball when they are on their backs. Most rushing yards (all 76 of them) were due to hard running by the RB's. For such large lineman, I sure don't see many holes for the RB's to run through much less time for the QB's to throw a pass. From what I have seen this year so far, LC does not have the strength or speed of the teams it has played. We are out of our league trying to play against 4A teams with 2A talent.
  13. I have not seen a worse tackling team than I saw last night at the LC vs. Central game. I do not remember Central even having to punt. Why can't LC tackle?? The offense also seems stale with the same plays being run time and time again. It would be nice to see some imagination on offense.
  14. Good point Maxi6. I believe that a coach must adjust/adapt his schemes to the talent that he has. Sometimes I do not think the LC Coaches do this very well. However, it still helps to have players with size, speed and strength , of which LC does not have an abundance of any of these. THis does not mean you cannot be competitive or win football games. I do think there is some good younger talent in this program (Frosh.-Jrs) and hope that if Coach White is retained he will adjust his schemes to utilize the talent he has coming back. They lose alot of Sr. Linemen but retain almost all of the WR's and a good young stable of RB's. THe 2nd team QB is a Jr. and has a strong arm. Next year, hopefully the coaches will utilize more of a spread offense to make the most of the talent they have. Only time will tell.
  15. From what I have seen so far this year, I don't think losing the entire offensive line or Satterfield will be a big loss for next years team. I see a very anemic offense that can't even score any points, much less cross mid-field in most games. Outscored 69-0 in the past 2 games doesn't speak well for the offense or defense. As I said before, it takes players to win games (speed, size, strength), I don't care who the coach is...
  16. There are alot of good points made on why Lenoir City does not win. Maxi6 makes the most sense on here that I have read so far. Bottom line is, players make plays. LCHS does not have the number of players needed to make plays in 4A Football. No team speed, no strength (only 1 player can bench press over275 lbs.).Most kids on the team want to win, however, I don't think there is a "Team" atmosphere . Lack of Senior leadership seems to hurt year in and year out. Winning has alot to do with attitude. You have to believe you can win. The coaches have to believe in the players and earn their respect and the players (and parents) have to belive in the coaches . The parents have to let the coaches do the coaching. LCHS has won in the past and will win again, it's just a matter of time and believing they can do it.
