  1. I don't cheer for my college, because they just didn't provide the opportunities and excitement that I was looking for in a squad. However, I do stay involved with a local gym that competes.
  2. It got old, but I never said that I didn't enjoy every minute of it. In fact, I enjoyed it so much, I've continued to do it in college. The 'oldness' can be aleviated by active, energetic fans, sportsman-like teams, and of course, awesome stunts.
  3. After a while, cheering at all of the girls and boys basketball games got old. Not only are you cheering 2-3 times a week, but you also have homework, extracurriculars, and work. All of that combined can really wear on one's body. Our cheerleading sponser developed a calander that rotated all the girls out. Out of the 14 of us on the squad, 10 of us would be at each game. That really helped keep basketball season from being so busy and tiring.
  4. I have to wish good luck to the Tigerettes of Marshall County. They are having an exciting, successful year. The first successful year in a while. It seems that all the right cards are being dealt. Good luck Tigerettes!
  5. Great site! Thanks for putting it all in one place!
  6. I agree wingman. Having been a player, student and fan of Coach Mac, I can't imagine great offers not rolling in for him. It's a shame that all this drama cost him his job. It's going to be a hard hunt now for Marshall County to fill this vacancy. I'm just glad that I got to experience the great coaching of Coach Mac.
  7. With deepest sympathies from Marshall County and Alabama.
  8. Congrats Bobcats! You guys have done an excellent job of representing region 5 for the past 2 years. Focus on this week's game, so that next week you'll be focusing on the game in the 'boro. I know that you'll give Kingsbury a good fight. Good luck this week!
  9. Congratulations Greenbrier. I know that you'll represent region 5 well. Attack JSS with as much intensity as you did tonite. Make it a shut out! Good luck!
  10. Game ideas-- *do the head on the bat and spin game. that's a classic *do a mummy wrap. have toilet paper and let 4 students from each class wrap another student. the best mummy wins. *have a snowball fight. get boxes and set them up around the gym as places to hide behind and use balled socks as the snowballs. the last one not hit by a snowball wins. *the scavenger hunt that I mentioned in a previous post is always fun. *have a jello eating contest. have one person from each grade see who can eat the most jello. get the long pans from the cafeteria and do some funky flavor. *do the game where around 15 people hold hands and try to get a hula hoop all the way down with out letting go of each other's hands. (a classic cheer camp game) *do a tarzan yell contest. *have a frozen t-shirt race. this is good if your sga has extra t-shirts from years past. freeze t-shirts in balls in the freezer like a day or two before a pep rally and have around 3 people from each grade participate. the first class to get all their shirts undone and on wins. these are just a few ideas. always have the classes compete against each other. that's what makes it fun! hope these work!
  11. At Marshall County, I'm not sure if it was ever required to take a knee, but it seemed more like one of those unspoken gestures that was done out of respect. I remember some of the older players telling the younger guys to get down, but I'm sure it's not in any rulebooks. I view it as a sign of class and respect of a team.
  12. Slowly, my memory of all my past pep rallies are coming together. Here are more ideas. *Use any athletic team that you have to focus the pep rally. The basketball team is a good one to use, e.g. the boys basketball team. If you have any guys that can dunk, have a dunking contest. Have mini games like soph and seniors vs fresh and jrs. or teachers vs students. *Get local businesses to donate prizes that students can win during the pep rally. Like, a free meal at sonic or some t-shirts from a clothing store. *Get the principal to agree to do something in the pep rally only if the students do. Such as, the principal will shave his head/pie in his face/covered in shaving cream if a majority of the students dress up/participate/win a game in the pep rally/etc. hope these work too!
  13. I agree! Should be a good match-up!
  14. Marshall County had a good game last week against Lexington. The best team effort I've seen this season. They always say that it's tough to beat the same team twice. Greenbriar will need to put up a great amount of teamwork, if Marshall County shows up and plays like they did Friday. This should be an awesome game. Good luck to both sides! To whoever wins, all the way to state!Make the region proud!
  15. here are some good ideas for exciting pep rallies that we used to do at Marshall County....... *do games where the students are involved. the quicker you have them participating, the more spirit they'll have. *have the teachers participate in games as well. it'll give the students something to laugh at. *have the football team make a spectactular appearance. make a banner for them to run through at the beginning with music going, lites off, smoke machines, etc. *have costume contests or themes for the pep rallies. *a scavenger hunt is always fun. ask for random things like a pink paperclip or a tardy slip or a piece of blue gum. *competition between grades is always fun. it builds class unity and spirit! hope these work!
