  1. Don't think that anyone knows for sure right now. Hasn't gotten any better, even with treatment so there has to be a problem. Think that they were going for xrays or something today and will know more later. Not a good situation but if she can come back later on they could be better because of the time the sophomores are getting. The 5'10 sophomore looked very good against Avery Co. the other night, just have to remember that she is a work in progress and accent the positives.
  2. It's not looking too good Vader. She could be out for the season. Truly a shame the way they played over in Cherryville, maybe with McQueen coming back in the near future will help some but Weddle surely cannot be replaced. Looks like North Greene is the only one left standing in Cloudland's way
  3. Impressive win over Wartburg. I thought they were supposed to be the real deal this season. Anyone see the game? Lady Landers must have played very well.
  4. Just curious Vader that you continue to rank Hampton where you do after their poor performance in their christmas tournament where they lost two of three and looked very bad in doing so.
  5. I'm very proud of the Lady Bulldogs. Imagine the Lady Cyclones winning without Mariah, Cloudland winning without BJ, Happy Valley winning without Bowling and you see what they accomplished in Cherryville. I do wish that they were healthy but this will help in the long run, IF everyone gets healthy again. When McQueen and Weddle come back they Lady Bulldogs could be an opponent that teams don't want to play. I look forward to Friday nights game with Unicoi Co. Sure, we are short handed but we will definitely give it our all. Congratulations ladies and coaches on a job well done.
  6. Lady Dogs beat Avery Co. 61-49 last night and will play the defending champ in South Point, which is from Belmont, N.C. Lady Dogs suffered a blow late in the third period when Weddle went down with an injury and did not return. Don't look for her to play tonight. A shame because the Lady Dogs were looking the best they have all season and getting healthy.
  7. To the best of my knowledge the other two teams in the semi's are Cherryville and the defending champion South Point. Haven't seen either team play so I can't tell you much.
  8. Lady Bulldogs won over Highland Tech 61-37 and played very well in doing so. Tech was a quick team but had trouble with the Lady Dog pressure. The win sets up a match with Avery Co., N.C. on Monday in the semifinals. The two schools used to play one another so this should be a good one. The Lady Dogs have showed up to play the last two games, maybe they have turned the corner. For your question Screen about Coach Tolley, he was back on the bench, a little pale, and a little thinner, heard he had it rough. Don't know how he took the ride over there
  9. The Lady Bulldogs play Highland Tech out of Gastonia, N.C. tomorrow at 11 a.m. in the BB&T Christmas Tournament at Cherryville, N.C. followed by the boys at 12:30.
  10. I doubt if he put them through all that but I'm sure he got their attention, and he obviously did with their performance. Made you a better player and your team a better team didn't it?
  11. Would you care to elaborate on those type of practices Vader.
  12. Hampton 47 Happy Valley 36 Lady Bulldogs led the whole game and played well. Looks like they got the mistakes corrected because HV came in playing well. I had heard that they Lady Bulldogs didn't get the balls out much at practice this past week. Well done ladies and congratulations. It is hard to believe that is the first home game.
  13. With Cloudland, Hampton and Unaka struggling could this be the year for North Greene to come through? They have been playing well, albeit against a weak schedule, but atleast they are winning. Should be interesting to see which team of the three, if any, can come out of their slump during the conference schedule and get some momentum going into the postseason. Can Cloudland continue to live behind the arc, can Hampton get healthy, and can Unaka pull together.
  14. I was being nice when I said that the Lady Bulldogs were "out of sync". I'm sure that you think the Lady Rangers are playing bad but wait until you see the Lady Bulldogs. There is no excuse for all the "mental" problems they experience.
  15. Lady Bulldogs lost at Johnson Co. 62-58 tonight. They are greatly out of sync and have people playing out of position because of the injuries but they also have some people who seem to be "out in left field" so to speak. Will turn it over for no reason, and I look for them to be heading to the bench sometime around or after christmas. Maybe if the Lady Dogs can get healthy they will return to the form that I saw earlier when they were playing really well because right now I don't see ANY team that they can beat.
  16. Congratulations to the Lady Cyclones. They played well and were clearly the better team last night. Disheartening to see the Lady Dogs play so well and actually lead after one period to getting beat by nearly 30. These continued "mental lapses" haunt the Lady Dogs and unless they can become mentally tougher they aren't going very far in the postseason. I know that Coach Tolley isn't one to make excuses but the loss of 5'9 Mollie McQueen and the injury of 5'8 Chelsey Weddle show up greatly in a game like this where the other team has such size. Weddle clearly isn't herself and probably shouldn't have even tried to play last night. The disappointing part of it is some of the guards continue to make unforced mistakes and hurt the team at the worst time. They could come out tonight at Johnson Co. and look like a juggernaut and they can also come out and lose. I'm eager to see what happens as the season progresses because I have seen the "real" team play and know what they can do, I just don't know if I will ever see it again. Once again, well done Lady Cyclones.
  17. Question for you coachh17. Do you think that the Lady Cyclones will come out and guard the Lady Bulldogs man to man. I am not a coach by any means but I don't think it would be their best bet. I look for them to play their zone. It all depends on which Lady Bulldog team shows up. If the one that beat Stone shows up it could be very interesting. Will be a fun game to watch between two good friends in Coach Dugger and Coach Tolley. Would like to hear your "expert analysis".
  18. Amen bouncepass. I can't even sit in the stands and watch a game anymore for all the parents and as you say bleacher coaches. For example our girls won 73-20 last night and it could have been a whole lot worse than that yet I still hear parents and the experts say "he should do this" or "he should do that" or "why is he taking her out or why is he putting her in". All of this makes me sick. Our girls are one of the best coached teams I have ever seen and people still do this and it is the same with the boys. I can sum it up in one word JEALOUSY. There is the TRUTH. Some people can't handle the truth. They don't pull for the TEAM they pull for the INDIVIDUAL.
  19. What do you think of the Lady Bulldogs now? Pretty impressive performance. I really enjoy watching them play and the best thing I saw was the effort, because they were still diving on the floor with the score what it was in the second half.
  20. You would have just had to have seen the Lady Bulldogs to believe it. 48-9 at the half. UH never knew what hit them. Hampton started clearing the bench in the middle of the second quarter. Thank goodness for the running clock in the second half.
  21. the new rankings should be interesting. I am not qualified but I will give it my best shot. 1. Unicoi Co. (no question here) 2. Cloudland (rebounded from their rough start, but still look vulnerable). 3. Elizabethton (good start only a memory now after a couple of losses to seemingly inferior teams) 4. Happy Valley (disappointing loss at home to UC. Have as much or more talent than anyone and can't seem to do anything with it). 5. Unaka (beat JC, still not very good right now, but can get better) 6. Johnson Co. (lost to Unaka. Good thing West Greene and Sullivan North aren't very good). 7. Hampton (injuries have brought them down. McQueen out for season and who knows how long for Weddle. Only one girl over 5'6 now).
  22. There is no timetable for Weddle's return. Not a lot you can do for that injury. Youth is a wonderful thing sometimes and I wouldn't think it would be too long before she comes back. On the other hand, I hear that McQueen is out for the season. That is a big blow as she was 5'9 and they greatly needed her size. A footnote, The Lady Dogs were up 15 or 16 points on CD until Weddle went out which makes the CD win over Elizabethton stand out.
  23. I myself couldn't be prouder of Coach Tolley. He was taking up for his girls. I don't see how he took it as long as he did but the official should be penalized too for his out of control behavior. Must have wanted to make himself look good or maybe he was feeling a little guilty about something. Whatever, it is history now.
  24. Everyone have a safe trip to and from the game. Be careful on the roadways, there are some slick spots.
  25. You guys are tough. You don't want Coach White and now you dont want Coach Matheson. Just who exactly do you want??? Of course I hear the same bull from some of the girl parents about Coach Tolley. They want someone THEY can control and tell what to do and they cannot do that with him. Is that what you want coaching the boys? a puppet you can tell who to play and when to play them. Go back to coaching youth club or church league.
