  1. You are correct tyler but officiating didnt beat the Lady Dogs, they did it to themselves. Right now with BOTH their posts being out they are struggling. The best lineup last night was when they put 5 guards on the floor. They cut it from 22 to 8 and actually had a chance. I know this will benefit us down the road it is hard to watch at the moment. The freshmen are playing like freshmen, which means sometimes like last night they dont show up. The sad part about last night was that some of the Hampton guards were running from the ball and left Bowers by herself against the pressure. South Greene has a good team but the Lady Dogs made them look like world beaters last night.
  2. Has to be a tough loss for the Lady Warriors to take especially with the Lady Cyclones coming up next. Will be interesting to see if they can get motivated properly. Unicoi Co on the other hand should be flying high with lots of confidence now and Harness should be back soon. Unicoi Co must be shooting lights out from 3 pt range. 27 last 2 games
  3. Cannot and WILLnot disagree with your rankings this week coach. Must be earned on the court and right now that title goes to the Lady Cyclones and Lady Landers. I am still very proud of my Lady Dogs. Them playing shorthanded without their 6'2 center would be like Cloudland playing without Wilson or HV playing without KJ. Notice the void. They will only be better for having gone through this later in the season. BIG week coming up for HV with 3 big rivals. Unicoi Co. could be the sleeper, I saw where they made 18 or more 3pointers yesterday against WG. Elizabethton will be pushed by HV on Friday. Can the Lady 'Clones handle the matchup zone? or will HV go Man to Man? Then after all that HV has to turn around and travel to VanHuss-White Gym on Saturday. Talk about running the gamut of emotions. Still not sure about Unaka or Johnson Co. Have to wait until they play to see who will have the upper hand. JC isn't bad, just not deep. I do think they have beaten a couple of teams from Virginia this season, not sure. Oh well, let the conjecture begin
  4. Hope everyone has a HAPPY THANKSGIVING!
  5. Lady Cyclones are taller and that is it. The Lady Dogs did a great job on the Marosite twins, I think they had 6 pts each. That is some pretty good defense. Lady Bulldogs played 9 players and remember their 6' 2 center is on the bench on crutches. Got freshmen trying to fill her spot at the moment. Offensive rebounding is what won the game for the Lady Cyclones and that alone. I know you look through orange colored glasses, but give the Lady Dogs some credit. I still say they get more out of what they've got than the Lady Cyclones. Look forward to the rematch in 10 days
  6. I also agree with the rankings. We are just getting started this season and I'm sure there will be many fluctuations within the 7. Hampton/Elizabethton should be a dandy Tuesday night. I personally didn't think the Lady Dogs would be as competitive until they got healthy and got their 6'2 post player back, but they have been getting some contributions from their freshmen and the guard play has been solid. Don't see any dominant team this year, unlike years past.
  7. Lady Dogs defeat Lady Warriors 34-31. Great win for Hampton and has to be a disappointing loss for HV, since the Lady Dogs aren't healthy at the moment...
  8. I didn't make it down last night and I must admit that I am surprised that the Lady Dogs were able to overcome their early season adversities and beat a good GCA team. I would greatly appreciate any comments from people who were there at the game. Obviously Hampton had to play much better than what they have been so far in the preseason.
  9. Hampton has some injuries right now so Grace should be ok, but you never know, There was a reason Grace played bad last time, Hampton made them. Great early season matchup.
  10. Thoughts ? any surprises? disappointments?
  11. Thanks runion13. I see some good matchups there. Cant wait to see the HV / Cloudland girls go at it. Also the East / Hampton girls game, even though I know they just scrimmaged on Tuesday at East and Hampton won by double digits. Will be interesting to see what each team has and what if anything the coaches show.
  12. Anyone got a schedule? Is it Boys & Girls ?
  13. I noticed another thread titled WVC but it was actually the 3 Rivers Conference. What are everyones thoughts on this season? With the addition of South Greene to an already strong conference how will things stack up? Will it be Cloudland, Hampton, North Greene or South Greene in the end? Should be an exciting year in District 1-A. Last year 2 teams from District 1 went to Murfreesboro and I don't see any reason to think it couldn't happen again this year.
  14. Since the season is finally over I am anxious to see everyone's thoughts on how their respective team fared this season. Also, post season awards? Player of the year, Coach of the year, etc...Carter Co has a lot to be proud of this season. Great job Ladies and Coaches.
  15. I'll have to put my 2 cents worth in. Hampton and North Greene games are usually ugly because both teams know each other so well. Hampton has won 2 of 3 this season and 5 of the last 6 in the past 2 seasons but NG won the last one at SHHS, but Hampton seems to have NG's number. That being said it will be different if DD doesn't play. NG has been playing very well and shooting the 3 ball especially well. You couldn't ask for 2 finer coaches either. Cloudland and Cosby should be a dandy as well. I thought that Cosby might be too much for Cloudland but that was before I saw where Unaka's matchup zone gave Cosby such a fit in the first round of the Region, and that was played at Cosby. The reason I say that is because Cloudland's matchup zone is much better than Unaka's so points may be hard to come by for the Lady Eagles. Cloudland on the other hand will more than likely have to make some outside shots because I'd say that Cosby will pack a zone in to try and stop B Rhodes. Lots of questions that will all be answered tomorrow night. Good luck to all 4 teams and may the best teams win.
  16. Great games at Science Hill tonight. The Lady Bulldogs bounce back from their poor performance on Saturday with one of their best efforts of the year, without Dorothy Dugger even, in beating Unaka 61-37. That means that Hampton will travel to Hancock Co and Unaka will go to Cosby on Friday. In the Championship game all I can say is WOW! North Greene beats Cloudland 60-53 in overtime. Great basketball game. This means that NG hosts Clinch and Cloudland hosts Washburn, both on Friday. Possible semifinal matchups are Cosby/Cloudland and North Greene/Hampton. Going to be some great action in the near future. Both NG and Cloudland will have NO trouble in their first round Region games but Hampton/Hancock could be a toss up and who knows what Unaka team will show up. The one that outplayed Cloudland or the one that got blown out by Hampton. Great job ladies and coaches.
  17. Probably the same way Unicoi scored 28 and Unaka 33 and Cloudland 34. Couldn't throw one in the ocean.
  18. Lady Bulldogs beat North Greene tonight 49-32. This means Friday's game @ Cloudland is for the conference championship and #1 seed. Should be a dandy.
  19. I watched the Lady Dogs and Lady Cyclones game, and I must say it was the best game I have seen all season. Both teams left if all on the court. Kudo's to both. I also want to send out my thoughts & prayers to Coach Tolley and his family. I can't imagine how it would feel to be informed of something like that right before a game and have the wherewithal to carry on. I know his team greatly appreciates him being there for them while his heart and mind was elsewhere. I was Proud of the Lady Dogs effort. Elizabethton looks like a college team compared to them and yet it came down to the final possession.
  20. Hodge is a good player and Grainger Co. has a great team. Hope to see them at the "Big Dance"
  21. Looks like Mother Nature could have a say in things with all this snow. With key games scheduled for tomorrow, UC @ East, Eliz @ JC, Unaka @ NG, Cloudland @ Hampton, none of the teams want to have to reschedule and have games piled up at the end of the season. You want to have time to prepare for each opponent and it is hard to do when you have 3 or 4 game weeks. Certainly hope the weather lets up and the games can be played safely. Looking forward to the coming weeks.
  22. Think you've got the rankings spot on coach. Like you said it is going to be very interesting and entertaining in the upcoming weeks. I still think Johnson Co is going to pull an upset before all is said and done. They continue to play people close and one of these games will break through, whether its against Elizabethton, Unicoi Co, Unaka, Happy Valley or Cloudland is yet to be seen. They've already played Hampton twice. Elizabethton still has to go to Unicoi and Sullivan East, as well as Johnson Co and Hampton. Unaka will play North Greene with NG having all of its players, unlike the first time they played. Cloudland at Hampton will tell us quite a bit this coming Friday. As the weather gets colder the action starts to heat up.
  23. Also hate to hear the news of all the injuries that are happening this season. If I'm not mistaken Elizabethton, Cloudland and Unaka have all had players suffer injuries. I remember all too well 2 years ago when the Lady Bulldogs had "6 players" go down with knee injuries during the season. It is a helpless feeling. I wish the young ladies a speedy recovery.
