  1. The key difference between your scenario and my scenario is that your scenario plays no impact on the game itself or anything surrounding the game. Go back over what I wrote and you will see that I wrote no absolutes. I wrote that I hoped the things that I heard did not happen. However, from my past experiences that I have seen in person I opted not to go. If someone will pull some of the stunts I have seen on the road I simply do not care to find out what would happen in their own place.

At the end of the day you just do not build a stereotype, especially in the state of Tennessee. Tennessee folks are good people and always willing to give the benefit of the doubt. Keep doing what you are doing to contribute to the good for your community and program.

Why did you choose to reply to only a very small portion of my reply. You do realize by doing so that my statement can and will be taken out of context.

  2. I really don't know what to say in that I did not make the trip. At the risk of upsetting some folks Stewart County has a reputation. For anyone wanting to say it's because I am in Humphreys County that is not the case. I had heard stories for years even before coming to Humphreys County.

The thing about not seeing things with your own eyes is that you can develop a biased opinion based on one side of the argument. However, my interactions with the school have not changed my opinion. Granted, Coach Holliday has always been courteous and professional with me and I am appreciative of that. I will say that I have been surprised at some of the things I have personally seen as well as heard from others outside of the community that I have plenty of respect for.

I chose not to go to the game this past Friday night. I have a family to watch out for and have to protect them from things that I do not condone. I am disappointed if it is true that fans waited for players and families of WCHS to leave the facility with a one fingered salute waiting for them. Before anyone asks how I would feel if that happened to visiting fans at WCHS I would be even more disappointed.

I hope it is a small minority that are causing this stereotype to follow the program. The programs exist with a goal of winning games but there are life lessons more important than football that we need to be teaching these kids.

I do not know who told you that ridiculous story about a one finger salute but it never happened. Could it be that one person saw something like that and embellished the story to make it the whole SC crowd? What is it you think your family would have seen that you felt you had to protect them??

I have lived in Stewart county all of my life and I really wouldn't want to go anywhere else. You are basing your opinion of a whole community and its people on rumors and lies. How would you feel if I said I didn't want my child to play football in Waverly because I've "heard" it's the meth capital of the world? Don't bash my community over rumors and innuendo and I won't bash yours.

As for the game Friday night...it was a hard fought game on both sides, one side was going to win and it just happened to be SC. Who knows maybe next year it will be Waverly.

  3. I would disagree. the officials last night were not very good. Having said that let me also say that for several years now football officiating in Western Middle Tennessee has been very very bad. I do not believe there was intentional cheating, just inability to call a proper game. There were bad calls for both teams. However, I think it is valid to say that the calls that were blown definitely hurt Waverly more. The pass interference penalty against number 3 was bizarre, a great effort by Will while being grabbed by the jersey by the defender and it is called offensive pass interference. This would have gotten the Tigers out from the shadow of their own end zone and a safety would not have happened. The personal foul against #55 while diving for a fumble was a bad call that would have put Stewart in a deep hole on third down. (I really feel the head referee had become angered by all the complaining of poor calls and simply over reacted based on the anger with which he threw the flag down) and finally the touchdown run by Stewart county saw a blantant block in the back to spring the runner. The side judge simply swallowed his flag, but he refused to call anything all night, again I do not think it was cheating just lack of ability of the officials. In a game that is this close blown calls are going to sway things and last night that happened. I do feel having watched several of these officials before that they are in over their head and should be sidelined for a while, but I know that will not happen. Finally, PTC, now for you to say that you thought it was a well called game, I do not believe that. In your coaching days I believe you would have been more than a little upset with last night officiating ( as would I) as matter of fact I think I have witnessed some of that. LOL

    Well said!!

  4. That was some of the most one sided officiating I've ever seen. And yes, I've seen West Tn officiating. Parsons Riverside was bad this year but not nearly as bad as tonight. Let me just name a few missed calls, consistent holding on SC to allow their runner to get the edge, consistent hitting out of bounds, called once, the bogus offensive pass interference against Waverly, (you should of heard the explanation from the ref), the moving of the ball 1 to 2 yds further than it should every time SC ran it, moving it back when Waverly ran it, once Waverly lost a full yard on an incomplete pass. I could go on. No I'm not a whiner, I don't mind losing if it is done on the field without the help of officials. SC played hard as did Waverly, but by no means was that a fairly called game. I feel sorry for the kids and I don't know how that the referees can sleep tonight. If it would do any good the game film would have been turned in for reprocussion.

Obviously it was a game of perspective. Our perspective saw Waverly getting the advantage each time the ball was placed and as I mentioned earlier, they did miss a call on Waverly sideline of a delayed hit but those things DO get missed each time a game is played. The officiating was much better than ANY I have ever seen played at Waverly.

If you think it was that bad, turn it in to TSSAA and see if there are any repercussions but I think you are blinded by your loyalty. That was a really good high school football game and the kids on both sides played hard and somebody has to lose.

As for whether you are a whiner, I've been watching CoachT post for the past 5 years and from my perspective you are a whiner. :)

  5. Too bad kids play hard for both teams and officials decide the outcome. This was the worst officiated game that I've ever seen in my 53 years. I begged the coach to send it into the TSSAA. Thought of listing the crew but it won't do any good. They know who they are. Hope they can sleep tonight. I can handle losing but I can't handle referees who call one sided. All you do is cheat kids. What a shame...

And even at that Waverly was going in for the tying score with less than a minute and Waverly's runner ran into his own lineman at the one and fumbled.

I was there and both sides played really hard. If you want to see bad officiating you need to go play in West Tennessee. These refs didn't call one sided an you need to learn to lose with class. I really only saw one thing that the refs missed that should have been called against the Rebels but you know, something like that gets missed every game and it has to be on someone's side. You sir, are a whiner.

Honestly, I've seen some really bad officiating each time we have played at Waverly.

  6. First of all let me say one thing about the Stewart County announcer. Mr. Wallace gives alot of his time and volunteers for many things in our community. I agree he isn't the best but he gives his time to our kids with a good heart and does it without complaint. Many nights his there to DJ the dances after the home games well after 11 pm. Does your announcer volunteer his time or his he paid. He may not be the best but I'm going to allow you to bash him without some kind of response so back off our announcer.

Second of all let me say one thing about the officials last night. I agree, they were horrid but I think they were on MC side most of the night. I was there the whole game watching my son play and at no time did I see a touchdown for MC called back during MC overtime possession. I did see a determined Stewart county defense make a great play at the end and kept MC from scoring. In my opinion it was a bad call on MC coaches part to not try for a field goal.

I did see MC score a touchdown that should have been called back when the ball was clearly dead when the SC boys had already touched it and MC picked it up and ran. That was the worse officiating I have ever seen and I have watched my son play football for the past 4 years and miss 1 game. Our boys touched that ball and in my opinion that should never been counted as a touchdown.

I don't know where you were last night but MC didn't get cheated. They just came across a determined SC team and got beat.

  7. Congratulations to Stewart County on Making the playoffs for the second year in a row. It looks like you found something that can become contagious....from your old Friends at David Lipscomb.

(We miss seeing the little log house in the corner of the endzone over at the old field and the mosquitos on the visitor's side)

From those of us who went to the old school, we miss it also. It's funny how you mention the mosquitos on the visitor side of the old field. I never thought about it but I guess there were plenty of them to go around on that side. Riverside has their visitor bleachers in a mosquito prone area so I understand now what you went through at the old stadium.

Wish us luck tomorrow night. Our boys and all the parents are really excited.

    Thanks for the congrats!!!

  8. I thought they did another routine but could be wrong. Are they the team that gets in warmup formations and randomly starts screaming various battle cries? As you mentioned there are a lot of teams that huddle up and get fired up before the game so I can't see that being what folks are making reference towards.

Trust me, it's what they are talking about which is why it is so ridiculous.

  9. What kind of antics do the Rebels do in pregame?

I wouldn't even call it "antics". Its just a pregame thing the boys do right before a game. They get in a circle and scream and yell and just do high five's and jumping in the air. I'm a Mom and I call it their war dance (which embarrases my son). It's done as a way to get pumped up for the game and I've seen every team we've played this year do something almost exactly like it especially Waverly. It's no big deal but it just seems to irk every opposing team. As for the after game "antics" as some like to call it, it's basically the same thing but the boys come over to the sidelines after the win and sing their victory song to the parents and fans.

As for those of you who don't like it, you need to get your big girl panties on and get over it. /tongue.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":P" border="0" alt="tongue.gif" />

  10. the first thing stewart county will need to do is not come out with their goofy pre-game antics. that will only jack goodpasture up and then it will get real ugly

Those goofy pre-game antics you're talking about are how our boys get "jacked up" as you call it. I'm sorry it seems to upset everyone that gets to experience it but they are going to do it anyway. We as parents love to see them do the pre game "antics" but we especially love to hear the victory song after the game.

I know that Goodpasture hasn't gotten to experience that yet but this is really their first chance in a long time. Hopefully our "goofy pre-game antics" will jack our boys up and it will "get real ugly", (just to use your terms) but ugly for GP. /biggrin.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="biggrin.gif" />

  11. This just in: A Rather Large pride of LIONS are gathering to the west of Waverly, reported that they are going on a tiger hunt /hungry.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":hungry:" border="0" alt="hungry.gif" /> When asked one lion replyed Tiger its what's for Dinner!! /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" />

    Good luck to both teams /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" />

I hear there is a group of REBELs that are planning on joining the LIONS tonight in their quest for TIGERS!

GOOD LUCK to the LIONS tonight!!!

  12. You guys once again are reading my posts all wrong...I never bashed the boys...I said that they had a good team and have a lot to be proud of...I am stating Facts....They have played a weak schedule....They have now beat 1 team (adamsville now) with a winning record... I think that it was classless how the coach ran it up against HC...My opinion is not very high on Holliday from the times that I met him and some other things that people around the program have said about him... I posed the first question as if there was any correlation to the "dirty play" that people talked about from SC to possibly the coaching staff...In the same post I put that I did not see any dirty play from SC during the game!!!

I do not want Coach Holliday's job...Has he turned the program around? Yes it is a mid-level 2A football team...No longer the muffin of 2A football...Will he continue to turn the program around and make noise in the playoffs or be more competitive agaisnt the likes of teams like Camden? That depends on if they get Gleason, Greenfield, and East Hickman off the schedule and better prepare themselves for good teams...They would be much better off going into the playoffs 6-4 or 7-3 and have played someone better than the teams mentioned above...

Look its not bashing, I know you all love your beloved rebels....I did the same thing to Papa when he tlaks like they are ready to beat Alcoa..(jk papa ..just making a point)...I am just giving a fair assement on how good the team really is...And that is a mid-level 2a football team!

No matter how much you protest, it it obvious to anyone who reads these post on a day to day basis that you have something against Stewart County. I also think you have something against Coach Holiday. It's a shame that a grown man wants to trash talk children. You may think what you are saying isn't trash talking but to a 14 to 17 year old boy it is and that's the only opinion that really matters to me.

To me your just a sad, sad little man bearing a hateful grudge that only you know anything about. /tongue.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":P" border="0" alt="tongue.gif" />

  13. You just took this way out of context, I wasnt bashing SC...I sadi that if they played Camden 10 times they would get beat 10 times...Camden is really good football team, a top 10...possibly top 5 team in the state(that will be determined later..

Second I do not believe that SC has try-outs...I am not sure, but pretty sure..If you read some more of my post throughout just this thread you will know that I am jsut a fan of the area...Lived throughout it for 20 years...Actually lived in SC for some of it!

I just stated the thruth from an unbiased opinion about the team..I believe that Holliday has some classless moves....Sc people think that they are unbeatable, I just stated the facts about their weak schedule and the padding of the record..Never did I bash any of the players what-so-ever besides saying that they were not a top ten team in the state..

SC has a good team this year, one that they should be proud of...The best team in recent history for SC..But if you were at the game, you know that jsut as well as I do that Camden would win 99 out 100 times they played...Maybe not by 31 everytime, but probably more than 10 everytime...(thats not a bash...its just the facts that Camden has a good footballl team)

Oh and therapy...If you knew my proffession you would think so even more...

Stewart County people do not think they are unbeatable. We knew we would probably get beat Friday night but we went in there with faith in our boys. And as for tryouts we don't now but they used to have tryouts and from what you said that would have been about the time you would have been in high school.

I was at the game by the way, I have been at every game they have played for the past three years except one and have been attending for well over 25 years. Maybe you didn't bash but you sure are free with the negative comments.

  14. [/font]

May not be 31 points better, but also everyone there would have to say Camden was much better than SC and would beat them 10 out of 10 times by 10+ points..

I may be the only one on this forum with this opinion but I believe you need to address the anger issues that you seem to have. You do nothing but bash SC. No matter what thread is started you always seem to bring up SC and have nothing but bad things to say.

Are you a former student that tried out for football and didn't make the team?

Lay off these boys. They are a great group of kids who have tremendous respect for their coaches. They work hard and they should be very proud of themselves. I know that their parents are proud of them.

    Once again, you need to consider therapy. /blink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="blink.gif" />

  15. [

Yeah i made that predictions forgetting the rain was comin then i realized that prolly nuthing but a bunch of running in this one...

    SC 17

    Camden 14

Still late second field goal makes the difference

wow!! yeah ok....i have no clue where your gettin that from. camden hasn't played that bad in like forever. it won't even be that close.

    CAMDEN 42-7

Have you ever read the Aesop's fable titled "The Fighting Roosters and the Eagle"?

    I suggest you read it. /flower.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":flower:" border="0" alt="flower.gif" />

  16. Ok. People have said all year long that the rebels are dirty and cheap shotters. But if you are not on the field playing against the rebels then you have no idea what is exactly going on. The rebels play hard every game. Earhart is a good solid qb. And has not started any fights all year. I look for our defense to step up this week. I know the game looks like its going to be wet and sloppy and i think this year it may help us out some. This is senior night and you know these seniors aren't going quietly. They are probably one or even the best senior class to go through schs. They are pumped and excited and are very focused. I see a closer game than expected. I hate to say it But i just can't see us pulling it out. Camden has a great team and i have a lot of respect for them. My final score camden 24 stewart county 17. But i'm pulling for the rebels and maybe for once after this week maybe we could get a little respect. Good luck to both teams. Hope everyone stays injury free. Go Rebels!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

With fans like you we sure don't need all these enemies.

  17. GotGame, Camden doesn't really need your help buddy. Remember, the Lions still get to line up and play the Rebels. We don't have to see who can pee further on a message board. Our boys will let their game speak for itself.

You know what? This whole region is weak. There's a one maybe two football teams in this region that will make it out of the first round. That's it. Look at the bottom of it with Riverside, HOUSTON CO....... Adamsville can't seem to get over the hump and become a good football team, Huntingdon is way down. Waverly can't play consistent football, Camden hasn't proved they can stop the pass, and Stewart Co. can't establish a run game. In this region, you are gonna have an opponents record that is below .500. That's just how it works. And no matter what you say, classy, tasteless, rivalry, boohoo, waaaaah, cry, pout, Camden and Stewart Co. are both 1 loss teams and are gonna play for the region title Friday night. Cut and dried.

Coacht please close this garbage thread.

Hooray, bravo, applause, applause!!!!! Very well said and I totally agree. Friday night is almost here!!! Yah!!

  18. i am pretty nuetral who has class and who doesnt, because i go to games because i love watching kids play there hearts out.

I can see how you think Holliday coaches without class, but from what i know of him, he is definitely one of the best coaches.

Did you here the interview of HC coach on the radio(105.1FM)?? If i was HC school administrators i would have fired him right then and there. He was disrespectful not only to Coach Holliday, but also to the Stewart County community....Let me remind you that this was on public radio. Why HC continues to have him as head coach, i have no idea. 1-his play calling is elementary, but i guess that is reasonable since he has a childish attitude. 2--As mentioned before, he is very disrespectful, he needs to GROW UP!!!! One more thing about class, during the game, when one of the SC wide receivers got knocked out of bounds, he was threatening and cussing at them----i know this for a fact.

GotGame, if this was not a rivalry i would agree with you 100%, but it is a rivalry and one of the oldest in the nation! the brick throwing, flag planting, mascot stomping, foul language, fights, all add to the rivalry and make it that much more enjoyable. i believe every team has a rival that they wish they could absolutely obliturate. WAS Coach Holliday classless, maybe. IS he classless, no.

What did he say on the radio?

  19. For the record I love how all SC defense for everything is to blame someone else...The accused dirty play....."They did it first"...Bad sports...."HC was first"....Jsut because SC threw a rock in Hc bus years ago doesnt give them the right to do it the next year... You say that holliday has all this class....But yet he retaliates with a run-up score...Win with class lose with class.....SC Holliday I believe lacks class

Sir, I have no idea what you have against Stewart county and Coach Holliday but if you want to talk about classless, let's talk about how the HC coach cancelled the JV game yesterday. That was classless. Stewart county has alot of good kids who practice everyday. They practice all summer except for the mandatory rest period the TSSAA requires. They practice during Fall break and Summer break. Yet, some of these kids never see any playing time UNLESS it is at a JV game. I know there were several children, and yes these are still children, who were looking forward to playing a game last night but due to a coach who is obviously a quitting sore loser they didn't get to play. Now sir, you tell me who is classless.

  20. You are right Butchie about the different personalities but sometimes it is hard to tell the difference between good fun and someone being a clown. Thanks again it has been fun going back and forth with you this season. You know what Iam talking about there are some that just don't like a certian team or teams. Lioness you are so right it is a terrible feeling when some young man limps or is carried off the field.

I wish I could be at the game Friday, but I have to work. Camden good luck to your Lions. I will be trying to find that radio staion that is broadcasting the game. Well one last thing to say. Lets lace em up and get it on.

/sad.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":(" border="0" alt="sad.gif" /> I can't believe you're not going to be there but me and your partner in crime will try our best to make up for the lack of your voice in our crowd. Got the air horn, rebel rags and all the other "Rowdy Crowd" accroutrements ready to go. We will raise our "spirit fingers" for you. Don't work too hard and hope you get to hear great news around 10 o'clock
