  1. If Maryville and Alcoa pull all the in county and surrounding area talent, then way is William Blount also the Number #1 ranked 5A team in the state!?

Sucess breeds sucess! If you want to be a champion watch what a champion does. For Blount County teams they don't have to go far to see how the other does it!

If people think the sucess Maryville and Alcoa has had in the last three years comes from open zone, then we'll just keep the secret to ourselves...............feeder programs, middle school programs......opps, did I say that?

    -BlountCountySportsFan

[To prove your point that it is feeder programs middle school programs coaching, tradition etc, then tell everyone who are the transfer tuition paying students that have played for Maryville teams in the past 10 years so that people will not think that your championships are tainted. /quote]

  2. Well with all do respect LMitch, I have talked to the current coaches, and the AD and have gotten lied to and they have talked very disrespectfully to me and some other parents. Your so hung up on what a wonderful role model Hutchins is, have you heard his mouth when he talks to some of these boys. I know for a fact there have been other parents complain about various things, and and indeed there sons playing time was cut. I glad your son has been treated so well, but I am here for the other 50+ boys and parents that are not treated well. If you such a strong coach supporter, then how about mingling with the crowd and listening to the comments, go to the middle school and listen to those parents, stand outside the locker room and watch the boys hang their heads after another defeat, go school with the boys and listen how the rest of the student body makes fun of them, count the proceeds from the gates and see how is dwindles down with every home game, give a ride home to some of the boys and listen to how they feel, and what they say, go to Alcoa and see how many SD zoned students are playing football there. I am not sure you have a true clear picture from the stands as to what goes on a daily basis. It's easy to be happy when you son is treated well, but there are many other boys on that team that deserve to be treated as well. I try to speak for those that can't or want, some are have told me they are afraid to talk to the coaches, or the AD.

Could you please list the names and addresses of all the players that are zoned for South-Doyle and are playing for Alcoa. I am sure that many people would be interested in this information if it is true, especially since they got away from Maryville. The truth hurts!

  3. I agree. If they are charging tuition for athletes to come in from other areas, then they do need to have some sort of handicap. Has anyone ever looked into how many athletes are being charged tuition at the schools you mention? And to me, it brings up the question; is there any type of financial assistance given? I serioulsy doubt it, but it does leave the door wide open for someone other then the parents to pay that tuition. Lordy, what a can of worms.

I have asked many times for names and addresses of transfer students that pay tuition that play sports at various schools. I have gotten no response from these teams or from posters that know probably every player on their team that they support. If these teams are saying that they are winning because or superior coaching, tradition, feeder system or anything other than tuition paying transfer students then what do they have to hide by telling who these tuition paying players are. Just tell the truth and put the so called haters of these teams to rest. The truth hurts! But this solution is to simple for everyone. I do not think that the TSSAA will look into this because they might find out that some public schools are acting like private schools and they might be made to apply the multiplier to adjust their enrolment made to play private. I do not believe in the multiplier. Just make all private schools play each other for a championship and make all tuition charging public schools play the privates also because they are acting like private schools. I never said that private and public charging tuition schools could not play each other or other public schools in the regular season. They would only play public vs public (not charging tuition) for a championship in one division and private vs public (charging tuition) in the other division. Public schools that charge tuition have been hiding for years in the public division instead of playing private like they should. TSSAA allows this.

  4. Go back and read his posts. Almost all of them are about Maryville. His problem is Maryville has whipped his teams butt too many times. As STARS would say. Too many L's have been planted on their rear ends by Maryville.

Sorry Ron, My teams have never played Maryville but I am trying to head them off at the pass before they have to play DII or 5A. Oh I forgot Maryville is building a new school to keep for playing 5A.

  5. hey clawball you need to remember one thing. maryville is a machine. a dynasty. george quarles is a genius and mastermind. maryville has won 7 state titles in 9 years. maryville has won 105 out of 107 games. no team in state history has ever done that. at 825 lawrence its all about championships.unlike your loser team maryville gets it done.

Sorry Reb, I am from MBA ,am just trying to get Maryville into Division II (Private School) league because we are need some more competition after dominating DII for so long. We will travel to you.

  6. My goodness, I am afraid to even go to the game now. Back off a little before you scare all the little kids away.

I love talking to Maryville posters because the are so intense and funny at the same time. In my opinion, according to a friend of mine, they said that Tim Hammontree built the Maryville program to where it is today, and Coach Quarles perfected it. He used to play at Maryville on a full ride but he wants to stay annoyomous.

  7. Welcome to CoachT rookie. You have been rather busy for the past three days posting and expressing your opinions about Maryville. You must play for or support a team that we have dog whipped in the past and you feel the need to trash us. Go ahead and have at it, we are use to the trash talk and our players feed on it. Please keep it up and let us see just how far we can ride this horse.

    Are you Heather Harrington's brother?

    Rebel 9

I wish I was Heather Harringtion's brother then maybe I could get some dates with her UT friends. Actually I am the ghoost of past Maryville coaches that is tired of Coach Quarles stealing all the glory that I deserve. BOO!

  8. Maryville has a great program. That said, you will NEVER get much help from the private bashers or support from them when talking about any advantages that any public might have. Why?

    1) There is no such thing as a level playing field, and they know it. That is just a phrase they use when they mean 'we hate it when the privates beat us but we don't want to sound whiney...so we are gonna punish them because a few are good'.

    2) Since the true reason for the multiplier is to punish the few privates who got good, they certainly won't acknowledge that there are some publics who are better than any private has ever been and that therefore must have advantages equal to or greater than the privates. If they did, their whole rationale for DII and the multiplier would go down the toilet.

I have put forth the idea of a merit system multiple times...because it is by definition fair and takes into account ALL advantages. It is fun to do because it is easy to see who is really looking for a solution to engender competition and who is really out to punish the privates. The silence from some posters who claim to be unbiased when a merit system is brought up is deafening...just as it will be for this thread.

Baldcoach, should public schools that allow transfer students to pay tuition and be eligible to play sports play private since they are operating as a private school for students that live outside of their zone. It would be interesting to see if the public schools that do this would object, and to see how many of their players are tuition paying transfer students that start on some of these championship teams!

  9. If you want to know come to a game buy a program match the number with the name and picture put it on paper and then you will find out. /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" />

Do they have the address of the players in the program? MC865 is curious about this.

  10. does Maryvill ehave an open school zone?...being from West tenn I know little about them

Yes JaxMan Maryville has an open school zone. Students that live outside of the Maryville City zone can attend Maryville High school if they transfer and pay tuition. Do you know of any schools that are public and charge tuition to transfer students in your area of the state. They play in public DI and have won 52 games in a row and the the last 4 or 5 state championships in class 4A. Most of their competition are public schools that are closed school systems where you have to move in to the zone to be eligible to play sports.

  11. Thank you for the run down. One Central fan mentioned that Burnette was a former Red Devil and you give the history of every kid no longer playing for Maryville. Is this a sore subject for you Ron? I think red and black was just making a reference that many of Burnette's former teammates are Red Devils. Not that parents shouldn't move.

fairplay2121 you know that this is a sore subject for REBELRON. He is in denial about Maryvilles team being so succesful with just Maryville players. If this is not true and he knows the history of all these players that have transfered out of Maryville, then he should know all of the players that have transfered in to Maryville.but not moved to Maryville, just paid tuition so they would not have to move into the Maryville school zone.

  12. Kids move all the time.TJ Franklin played for Maryville youth leagues and Maryville Middle until he got in high school then he went to CatholicKenneth Click played for Maryville as a freshman then transfered to Heritage. He was good enough to go Carson NewmanBenny Fuller started out at Maryville then transfered to AlcoaTJ Brock played his 1st 3 years at Maryville then transfered to Sweetwater. TJ was an all state player at Maryville.Kelby Crain started out at Maryville then transfered to William BlountPK Sparks played for Maryville Middle then went to Alcoa. He made the play that beat Maryville in 2000.Chris Franklin started out at Maryville then transfered to Heritage. He helped Heritage beat Maryville in 1999 and 2000.In basketball Travis Stinnet went to Maryville City Schools then went to Alcoa High School.Kids come and they go. Maryville gains some and they lose some. People are going to have to get over the fact that Brent Burnett,Aaron Douglas and Tyler Clendenen grew up in Knoxville then their families moved to Maryville.

I did not know that Brent Burnette moved to Maryville. His neighbor in Halls says that he still lives in Halls. I wonder if the Burnett's moved to Maryville and kept their house in Halls.

Maybe CZAR could figure all of this out for us?

  13. REBELRON, quit crying about watered down fields and Knox County officiating, claw ball is waiting on you to tell the truth about Maryvilles out of zone tuition paying eligible playing starters that make Maryville such a good football team or is it just good coaching. Maybe Coach Quarles could give you this information or STARSANDBARS has the lineups from the old programs, I am sure CU865 would like to know. The truth hurts.

    Bump

  14. In 2004 Maryville traveled to Halls. At that time it didn't rain for about a month. The ground was dry as a bone but the football field looked like a swamp. I remember how many times a Rebel player would slip and fall.

  15. Clawball needs to quit his crying about Maryville. He started 3-4 threads crying about Maryville.

I am not crying about Maryville. If I am crying about any thing it is about a level playing field. I do not think that to many people take this topic very serousily, especially TSSAA. I know that some of my post have been sarcastic but I thought that was the best way to get replies because other posters were sarcastic or not very serious. My question still is about an equal opportunity for all teams to compete against other teams that go by the same rules pretaining to school zones, transfer policy, tuition charged or not charged, etc. I thought that I was very specific about this in my last post. I wish that some other posters would reply in a serious manner. Maybe someone that knows of a public school that allows transfers from out of theirschool zone to pay tuition and be eligible to participate in sports could give their opinion. I would also like for a poster from one of these public schools that charges tuition to honestly tell how many players have played starting roles on their teams. I question if this in formation would be reported, but prove me wrong. Maybe the Head Cqach or Athletic Director of these teams would volunteer this information. Why should this information be so secret, what is there to hide? If this information is reported honestly for the past 10 years then maybe this issue could be put to rest or maybe the rules could be changed. I hope that I have asked ligitimate questions and have presented some good ideas. I welcome similar responses.

  16. Should public schools that charce tuition be allowed to play in the public division,or should they be required to play with private schools that also charge tuition. Should the multiplier be applied to public schools that charge tuition like private schools who want to play in the public division? Should their be a semi-private league for these schools?

  18. The grammar in this post is horrible, but I do like how you make it T$$AA, thats funny.

Sorry for my poor grammar. I graguated from the University of Tennessee. My major was not English. I majored in social studies, with a minor in history. WWII started in Europe when Germany invaded Poland in 1939. The Allied Big Four included The United States, Great Britian, Russia, and France. The Axis Powers were Nazi Germany, Imperalist Japan, and Facsist Italy. Japan attacked Pearl Harbor, Hawaii on December, 1941.
