  1. Good news up Pickett Co's way. So now at worse if/when PC wins region they have a easier path paved to state tournament already. Temple is a tough team, but I think if Pickett had to choose they would rather play them than CSAS and/or Grace. I guess Grace could beat CSAS and then Temple beat Grace again to send Grace up here. As a Pickett Co. fan I'm just glad to see that either CSAS or Grace will be going home earlier than expected.
  2. No I'm not even from celina but I know who this guy is. If you remember a guy who came off the bench for celina when Godwin was there. Think his name is tony ferra. But the guy from clay co that was doing that was totally disrespectful. Pc fans have absolute respect other teams in the district. Pc's team stood and applauded everyother team last night, clay's didn't do anything. Clay's fans were even cheering when two of pc's players got injured. Thats why if i want knowledgable advice on 7a I go to talk to clarkrange and rbs fans, they'll be honest and reasonable. They might have been cheering for him, but the boos definately out did the claps. There where no boos coming from pc's side of the gym.
  3. The grade is what matters, an 18 or 19 year old senior still only gets as many years of high school as a 17 or 18 year old does. Being older in school helps you be more mature in life and in school, not nessicarily on the basketball court. Clay Co has a bunch of good juniors, who will be the odds on favorites to win district next year, but that should be the only year they dominate. Clay Co. comes along with a great senior class every couple of years and wins district, PC stays pretty consistant throughout the last 20 years.
  4. One other side note, correct me if I'm wrong, but I think with 13 points tonight that puts Brent Logan at exactly 1,000 points. Congrats Brent, hope I'm right and you get presented with a ball sat. night. This makes 3 players on the current team with a 1,000 points, not been done since 00-01. Impressive.
  5. PC isn't that much older than Clay, most of their players are juniors, so lets not say they are too much older. But PC has more talent, and is the better team. I am totally shocked that their haven't been 4 or 5 Clay posts about the refs and the foul situation. The team who fouls the most, has the most fouls at the end of the game. Its not the refs job to even it out. One more thing I want to say about Clay Co's crowd, tonight they were totally class-less. Edward's father-in-law is the only one who applauded PC or was even semi-respectful. What made me mad was grown adults and high schoolers, booing coach Bibb when he got his coach of the year award, and then booing PC when they got their trophy, totally class-less. PC fans clapped and did not boo when Clay co got their awards. And in years past PC fans and players, have always been respectful of other teams accomplishments.
  6. 10th straight win for PC, they are running like a well oiled machine. TC stayed out of foul trouble for most of the game. Jacob scored what he needed to, Logan added enough points, and the pressure defense killed Clay Co.
  7. Laughable, simply Laughable. I think Edwards is a good coach, but he isn't even close to Bibb. Heck, I think Flynn is a better coach than Edwards, yep I said something good about Jackson Co.....just shoot me now. Let me tell you why Bibb is the better coach. Lets go back to the 05-06 season, Bibb took a mostly sophomore team to substate, stayed fairly close to Clay Co's Senior lead team, last season, Bibb takes a mostly junior team and beats a very good Jackson Co. team in region semi's, This year, sure he has a senior lead group, but he is still winning. Now Clay will be best team in the district next year, no doubt, but let me see they are gonna have all seniors, PC will be starting 3 guys who have seen limited playing time and 2 guys who haven't saw any. So if PC finish 2nd in the district next year, then that will prove me right. Bibb has Complete control of his team, what attitudes are you talking about? Have you even seen PC play more than 3 times this year? I highly doubt it. TC and Jacob both have one goal in mind and that is a state championship and they aren't the type of players who let their attitudes come between them and a championship. You want to talk about Edward's accomplishments?.......Bibb has been to 3 sub states and 1 state tournament, and hopefully with this year he'll make it 4 and 2. Clay Co does have a very balanced scoring attack, lets look at it for tonight. 8, 2, 6, 6, 5, 2, 2. That is balanced, but when you don't have a quote end quote "scorer" then you aren't going to be able to do much. Jacob Wright does take most of the shots, but guess what......he also makes most of his shots. He doesn't do what a lot of shooters do and shoot his team out of a game. He does exactly what his team needs him to do. Not that I'm comparing this team to the 90's Chicago Bulls, but lets compare for argument sake. Those 90's bulls team had a scorer and a bunch of other guys, how did that work out for them? 6 titles in 8 years. PC's scoring attack was pretty balanced tonight....Wright 26, Logan 13, TC 10, Brown 6.
  8. Rev, I'm just about to head up to LA to watch it, should be a good one, I don't expect it to be more than 10 either way it goes, hoping and thinking PC will win it. Jacob is just too good to be shut down, he had one bad game this year and that was at Clay and he still scored 21 I think. Clay Co. fans are saying this game is their team is the best team in the district, given they are good, but they didn't win the regular season so I can't help but disagree. How can you say a team who lost almost as many games as it has won and lost four district games the best team in the district? Crazy JC and CC fans. Atleast Clarkrange and RBS are sensable fans. They know who the better team is. I say Jacob has 25+ unless Logan really steps. I see TC having a big game underneath because he usually doesn't get into too much foul trouble in post season play. Should be a good one, PC 62- CC 54 is my prediction, Jacob has 28 and wins District MVP. Good luck Cats. CASC, I'll reply to your thing when I get back from the game, hope to see everyone at the game.
  9. And when this year has anyone stopped Jacob Wright? Noone, even at Clay he still score 21 or something. TC doesn't get in foul trouble in post season, so lets see if Clay can contain him, I doubt they can. This is PC's moment to shine. Don't even go back to 04-05 because I'm pretty sure PC won the region and made it to state, Clay didn't.
  10. I think your right, but noone would leave their family to stay for basketball. I think last year was the best chance PC has had to win it since 03-04 when I think Unaka won it. PC beat Unaka pretty badly in that Thanksgiving tournament, but PC couldn't make it past region. Last year all the tough teams were on the other side of the bracket, Humbolt and Temple were both on the other side, PC would have had Culleoka as their biggest test in the semi-finals, and PC had already beat Temple earlier in the year. The only difference in last years team and this years team is depth. They didn't just lose Roddy, they Lost Elmore and Copeland coming off the bench, who quit before their senior year, How dumb can those moves be. But I don't know if 03-04 or 06-07 losses before state were near as painful as the one PC suffered in 93-94 season to Friendship in the first round of region. PC was the single A state favorite, was that the toughest loss in school history CASC?
  11. I mean Adam lead Upperman to state that same year, if that tells you anything about him. PC lost two or three good players off that team to other school. James Gibson's brother Jason he graduated the year after Aaron and Crouch, left to go to Clinton Co. He was twice as good as James is. He was about 6'3' long and lanky arms, he could dunk. He was just as good a point guard as Crouch was. If those two would have stayed then PC might have won more than what they did from that little stretch.
  12. The Asberry's left because their dad Steve got a job at Upperman, along with their mom. It had something to do with Mitchell getting fired and either A. Brent Smith getting the job, or B. Steve not actually getting the job himself. But I heard something a while back, that if Bibb had gotten the job after 00-01 season (which he applied for) the Aberry's would have stayed in Byrdstown. PC might have two more state championships. When Aaron was here all he needed was the inside presense that Adam gave him every year before. Thats exactly why we lost that first round game in the 02 state tourny, they just stayed on Aaron because he was the only one that could score. And Alan, he would have almost certainly helped PC in 04-05, maybe even 03-04, those two years PC had a path paved to state but couldn't do anything with it.
  13. I was only like 5 when PC won its first State Championship, so i don't know that much about that team, but that team layed the foundation for PC to dominate 7a basketball and be in contention for years. I mean you can't even count the number of players who came through PC from 90-95, amazing tallent.....Mitchell, Parris, Smith, Both the older Crouch's, Meadows, Melton, Beasley, Amonett, they had serious players in every class for years. PC didn't really slack off until 97-98, 98-99 when they had to dip down into the 8th graders to get J. Crouch Aaron, and Adam Asberry. And ever since then they have been back, but I don't think any where to the same success that those earlier to mid 90s teams did. Last year was the first district tournament title they had won since 01-02. So hopefully they can capture another one tomorrow night.
  14. Key word there SHOULD. PC should have won at Clay Co. You think there was a boat load of pressure on Clay Co when they were taking those foul shots at PC? Oh you know they did. And you don't think their is gonna be twice as much pressure on them when they are playing tuesday night for the district championship. You keep using the words SHOULD and IF, PC is using the words HAVE AND DID. So Clay won it three times? PC won it in 99-00, 00-01, 01-02, and 06-07, not to mention the numerous other times they won it in the early 90's. But all that means nothing this year and during this game. This year all you can go on is this year. PC has been the better team, they have a better record, against better teams, they only lost one game in the district, Clay lost four remind you, and PC does have the better coach. Bibb knows what he is doing, and he has the better players. Clay may have heart, but so does PC. PC hates Clay, Clay hates PC, so this game will be an awesome one......that PC will win.
  15. Well with much respect to E Mitch, Eugene, Nat Aar, Chad C......You gotta go with Joe Amonett don't ya? Won it in 95, runner up in 93. One, if not the best players ever to come from the upper cumberland, played at Wake Forrest. Free throws go a long way in the clutch department, and he was like over 95% for his career, so thats my pick. What's yours?
  16. Pc gets Clay Co. in the championship Tuesday night at 8. Should be a good game if the first two games are any indication.
  17. Pickett has won 9 straight, they are playing in the district championship for the 18th straight year, they have the best player and coach in the district, I think they win this one, but it will be a good and close game. PC by 5 is my prediction. Listen Clay beat PC at Clay on a night which I thought was the worst game PC played all year. And they choked it away at PC, so thats why I like PC. If they choked in a regular game, how you think they are gonna win in a district championship game. Still think they will play well and this will be an awesome game to watch.
  18. They play tonight at 8 at LA against the #4 seed Clarkrange.
  19. Clarkrange won last night over RBS, atleast I think thats who they play, they will face Pickett Co. on Thursday night in the district semi-finals.
  20. I finally saw it on the Herald-Citizen website last night, but it didn't have the second and third team. Looks pretty good. Clarkrange vs. PC thursday night. I think 8 o'clock tip, but not sure on that one. All the PC fans have went quiet, this topic isn't getting much action.
  21. No Van Buren is out in the sticks as well, but they play in a district and region with major city schools. So they get more exposure.
  22. The single A poll is a joke. Pickett Co. beat Van Buren twice this year and as recently as friday, and Van Buren moves into the top ten? You've got to be kidding me. I see about 5 teams in the top ten that I know PC can beat, only one maybe in the top 5, Nash Christ. but Van Buren, University, Summertown, Moore Co., and the Arts and Sciences, I'm sure they could beat all of those teams. Not saying they would, just saying I know they could beat them. Rural schools don't get any love in these polls.
  23. Anyone know when we we'll know all-district team and Mvp? I figure MVP is going to Jacob Wright, unless they just decide to screw him three years in a row. I figure TC will be on first team, along with Upchurch, and a couple of guys from JC and CC. Post it when ya get it.
  24. I agree with ya midten, Pickett Co. is playing really good basketball right now and they look to be the favorites in every game they play from now til state tournament. The CC/JC game will be really interesting, should be a good one. Last years JC team, all year long I just thought to myself, they are gonna choke, they aren't gonna win the big game when it matters, and what'd ya know I was right. I don't get that same feeling with PC this year, but I do know that its possible for them to lose to one of those top teams come district or region time, I'm not blind. I don't think Clarkrange has much of a shot, especially since I heard that Upchurch got injured last week and is probably not gonna be able to play? Is their any truth to that rumor I heard? Maybe one of those C-range posters will jump over from the girl's message boards and let us know. Pickett will be tough for anyone, because right now, they have everyone involved, Jacob Wright isn't having to do all the scoring by himself. The other night against Van Buren scoring was TC 15, Jacob and Gibson 14. that is well rounded. I'm liking this team a little more every day. Good luck to everyone, let the game begin tonight!
