  1. Heart says - McCallie 31 MUS 27 Head says - McCallie 17 MUS 34 Hope my Heart wins this time.......
  2. Not sure where they stay, but it is not a 4 star hotel for sure. As a frequent guest of Hampton Inns I can tell you they are not cracking fresh eggs made to order. I think they are poured out of a carton. And unless they have genetically engineered chickens to produce liquid eggs, I think they may not be 100% authentic. I hope it is a well-played, injury free game and may the team who plays the best come out on top. And it better be available for streaming.....we have our Friday night planned and it's watching McCallie vs. MUS!
  3. Not all the way on Thursday and they are traveling 6 hours over two days so......it is a factor. Away from home, in a hotel, fake eggs for breakfast - c'mon owlbooster, you're real - it does matter.
  4. Ya know - you're right.
  5. Using the logic of enrollment equaling success on the football field would seem to mean the ten largest universities (az st, ohio state, central fla, minnesota, texas, florida, texas a&m, michigan state, penn state, and illinois) should be top ten football powers (or at least some of them) - and last time i checked (2 minutes ago) not one of them is ranked in the top ten and only 3 make the top 20 in BCS rankings. Now, on to the MBA vs. B game.....I hope the red team wins.
  6. Very well stated and while I am very quick to voice my displeasure when calls go against my Blue Tornado, being a football official is not my idea of a fun Friday night. Thanks for the viewpoint.
  7. Compared to MUS who has 6 seniors listed as potential D1 recruits, McCallie is lacking in star power. Their offense is the triple option with Daniel McClure (#24) and Samir Usman (#1) getting the bulk of the carries. McClure is a fire plug who stays low and keeps his legs moving carrying right up the middle. He gets lost among the OL and DL sometimes and is a really hard-nosed and determined runner. He has had a lot of success this year even though you know he is going to get the ball. Usman is the pitch man and has really good skills. Like McClure he is not real big but sees the field well and has good speed. Trent Lusk (#4) is the QB and he is a big kid with a decent arm. He is a threat to run but is not fast enough to do well against teams with good speed on defense. Because of his size he can pick up a few yards when needed. McCallie's passing game is not very developed. They have had a few big plays (including the game winner last week), but it is inconsistent at best. It is used just enough to keep the other team honest. As for their defense, it is a group that relies on the team as their are no dominating players. They pursue really well and have gotten better at pass coverage although the CB's still play off a little more than I would like. Chad Toliver (#3) and Hayden Cronen (#17 and Jalen Kellum (#6) are all defensive players to watch. Looking at the OL of MUS it is hard to believe how big the kids are. McCallie has one lineman with close to that kind of size in Tye Youngblood (#78). Finally, Toliver is a scary good return man and Arturo Rocha is a decent kicker although his confidence is a little down right now. Hopefully he has put the last second missed field goal attempt against MBA out of his mind.
  8. Having seen both teams play I have to give the edge to B. While MBA is playing better football lately, B has been consistently good all year and with the game being held on the beautiful campus behind the Walmart (sorry, had to) I say B 31 MBA 17. If MBA plays their game of the year.......they may have a small chance of pulling off the upset.
  9. Other than Ensworth there are no common opponents for McCallie and MUS. I am sure MUS is the prohibitive favorite in this game, but am interested in an overview of MUS from anyone who has seen them play.
  10. What made this game hard to predict was the terrible first half McCallie had the first game with BGA. It was, by far the worst half of football they played all year. These two teams were pretty evenly matched, but that was lost on most people (me included). All but one person (out of nine) from the Chattanooga Free Press picked BGA in the Friday predictions section.
  11. Nice! Well done........Surprising!
  12. As always, I will be rooting hard for the Blue Tornado, but I am not feeling very optimistic. As a previous poster said, McCallie's passing game is virtually non-existent, and when a team is one-dimensional they are easier to defend. McCallie will play hard, hopefully play smart, and (hopefully) hold on to the football. But, I am fearful that in the end, when the big-boned, non-male person has sung, McCallie will be left holding the short end of the stick. BGA 31 - McCallie 24 (hope I am wrong)..... ....and throw the football BUBBA!
  13. Blame it on selective memory, and I am glad you pointed this out. You are exactly right...the officials measured for the first down after the MBA penalty - and in a totally different situation than when the two timeouts were called. I misremembered.....sorry.
  14. Horse Collar Tackle (Mc) Offensive Face Mask (MBA) Roughing the Passer (MBA) Leading with Head (Mc) Offensive Pass Inteference (Mc) 12 on the Field (MBA) Many questionable calls - and an unusual allowing of MBA to accept a penalty after they declined it (offensive PI). After MBA called two straight timeouts trying to ice the McCallie kicker, the refs decided to measure for a first down (after a MBA penalty) when it was second down and 4.5 seconds left. They could have measured during one of the two timeouts and it didn't matter in the least. They essentially gave MBA a third timeout to ice Rocha. Although I think he misses the kick anyway. Bad officiating (with no due respect given)..... And to the McCallie fan yelling for an excessive celebration penalty who responded "good" when I explained the MBA kid was injured after scoring the game winning TD - you don't deserve to be a fan of The Blue Tornado - find another team to "cheer on".
  15. Very bad loss for McCallie....painful in the worst way. MBA tried to hand the game to McCallie and McCallie refused to take advantage. More later...it's late and I am p****d off.
  16. Agree on the "real game" statement.....have to set the DVR as I will be attending the MBA game...
  17. Certainly don't have enough knowledge to predict the outcome of this excellent high school match-up. I do wish I could attend the game though - it should be entertaining and ultra-competitive. I'm rooting for the Blue team.
  18. This should be a close game so I'll give the edge to the home team and say McCallie wins 30 - 24. Good game - Good sportsmanship - No injuries!!!!!
  19. You see the Old in my screen name....well it fits with my comment. It is PJPII week for the Blue Tornado. As the youngins sometimes say - "my bad".
  20. The record Baylor's girls golf team shares is an unbelievable accomplishment and one that will probably never be equaled. Congratulations on a great run.
  21. McCallie was on fall break as well...back to action tomorrow night against MBA.
  22. Defending Champion McCallie has a 19 stroke lead over second place after the first day. The Blue Tornado have the 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 7th place individuals. Unless they have an epic collapse, they will be back-to-back state champs and return all 5 players from this years starting five. The already epic Baylor girls are tied with Ensworth.
  23. I thought McCallie was playing BGA last night but I must have misunderstood. Some team dressed like McCallie showed up and played the game. I think the regular Boys in Blue must have stayed in Chattanooga watching replays of the B game hoping for a different outcome. Will check the paper for an announcement of when they reschedule the game and let everyone know.
