  1. sorry not sure where you got that number...but that is WAY inflated...not sure how many kids in this senior class probably 25+....BUT I saw debbie hamilton and she told me that there are 92 kids enrolled at temple for next year 9-12...and there are 34 in that sr. class....so that is tiny...
  2. Well there ya go....white station is the most dominant team since 2000- that is amazing I didn't realize that...Temple has done well in single a...but 5 gold balls in what 9 years...that is amazing... as for all the petty recruiting, coaching changes, garbage...it will never end....why waste time talking about it..
  3. the public private debate will never go away...ever unless they are completely separated... when you win people question how you do it...when you are tiny like temple and continue to win people really question how you do it... Temple's "ga state championship teams" had kids who lived in ga...just across the border who had been at temple since kindergarten, 1st and or 2nd grade...the oldest skogan came in 9th grade and didn't even play in a game because of injury(the other skogens enrolled accordingly, 7th, 5th and 3rd grade...that is a stupid accusation...the more recent years I can actually understand some of the criticism... btw...people like debbie hamilton, and many many others associated with that school are why I have disdain for that place...again basketball is my weak spot...
  4. not even close to the best...maybe 5th... 01-02 06-07 02-03 04-05 (lost in 1st round to middleton(state champ)- ranked #1 all year..only 1 loss all season...basically the manassa vs. humboldt mishap this year) Then maybe 98.... so 5th... dadoffour... I don't have loyalty to temple as you can tell by my critical and many times ridiculous comments...I simply use this board to follow temple because for some reason I have a soft spot for them (the basketball program that is)... however, at the same time I have nothing but disdain for the school... I also like to try to get a rise out of people on here to my own amusement...sometimes I say things I think...sometimes I say things I know will drive other people insane...then I get to laugh at how predictable people are... mostly I just goof around... no loyalties anywhere next year...unless some other small school gets lucky enough to inherit a fan like me...haha
  5. B/C they decide before they should...they need to go back to waiting until after the state tournament...instead of right before the playoffs start, which is before some teams on opposite ends of the state have had a chance to see who is better, and who is clutch to get their teams in the tournament and then step up and win it....that should be a deciding factor IMO...
  6. IMO Josh Templeton's game was VERY similar to the 2nd skogen Caleb...high amount of assists, skinny, lightning quick scored I think 20+ pts agame (I think skogen avg. was 22ish) Josh was WAY better than he should have been...he was only 5'9'' and that hurt him. He probably shot the 3 a little better..Caleb skogen was a 6'2 version of templeton...also with better hops.. so I would have to put templeton behind caleb skogen. Caleb is behind jake skogen in my mind only because jake was able to get the gold balls in the gyms trophy case... Caleb could take over a game but was better at including and distributing...Jake just took games over...regardless of how his teammates were playing... The 3rd skogen...seth was the best shooter of them all...and he lead his team to a gold ball....but probably had the best supporting cast of any of the other players mentioned... seth shot like 45% from 3 including 11 in one game... averaged about 21 a game for two straight years and 18 a game as a soph. All mentioned above were mr. basketball finalists...seth skogen the only one who was up for it twice...and jake the only one to win it... Holwerda was probably better than everyone mentioned above...mr. basketball 2 years in a row, and freakin mad hops... not a very good 3 ball shooter but a great pull up. He averaged 26 a game his jr. and sr. seasons and won gold as a sr. His game and the oldest skogen, jake's, game were the most similar except holwerda a better athlete and jake maybe a better shooter... Holwerda also had the best #2 guy on the team, with that Trimew kid who was really tough and also a sick athlete... Holwerda is also only one of 7 players in the state to have scored over 3,000 pts. in a career. That being said the oldest skogen scored around 2500+ in only 3 seasons...he didn't play his fresh becasue he broke his leg or some kind of injury... The oldest skogen is also the only one mentioned to score over 1,000 pts. in one season averaging 29 a game as a sr. the 3rd skogen and Holwerda are the only ones mentioned that saw serious time on the varsity as 8th graders...the third skogen holds the career scoring record at temple with 2700+, and the career rebounding record... Jake is 2nd on both...in only 3 seasons... Caleb is 5th with just over 2,000 pts, (behind jeff smith, and now Jeremy Sexton), but Caleb is 1st in career assists at temple, with templeton being 2nd... wow...too much typing...so to answer your question I would say jake was the best temple player.... Holwerda was the best of everyone mentioned above...but now that you have a lot of the facts you can decide for yourself...
  7. Hahahaha..... this guy is still mad about temple beating humboldt in 07...and getting a perfect season RUINED by manassas...tough couple years huh buddy...
  8. michael, reading your other posts especially the ones about mr. basketball and the like I think you are a little confused about the order of the skogen boys... seth skogen was in 7th grade when temple won the 1st state title with jake skogen and j. williams and ryan wadley... CALEB skogen was a fresh...as was younger wadley( never played) The year after that when temple repeated it was jake, caleb, ryan wadley, sean wadley (younger wadley) and Isaiah mouw ( he never played until this year..a little for the 02' champ team but not really)... 2 years later in 05 Caleb skogen was up for mr. basketball...and doaks got the award over him... seth skogen was a finalist for the award in '06 and '07...HE was the one who got robbed of the Mr. basketball award...he averaged more points and more rebounds than Union city Mr. basketball winner mj brown, AND actually GOT his team to the state tourney...AND ACTUALLY WON the state tourney...AND was the state tourney MVP....but they voted on the award way earlier in the season instead of waiting to see who is clutch...and...who was actually better.... anyways...I think you get the ages and names of the skogans confused... thought that would help...
  9. how can anyone put 01' Ezell when they got beat by my crusaders in the state championship...and beat pretty hard... 13+ I think..
  10. No sorry I meant that this year's manassas team is not as good as last years Union City team...which a younger temple teamed played closer... and looked better against you'd think a team would improve in a year not get worse...
  11. WOW...I couldn't agree with you more or have said it better...and let me take one shot if I may at Coach marcum... I think that last year's Union City team was better than this year's manassas team..IMO... at least as good.. Temple played that team last year within 4 points I think.... THEN RETURNED EVERY SINGLE PERSON...so everyone should be a year better, stronger, bigger faster, whatever...and they are all seniors, and then they get blown out by a team who was not as good as last year's UC team... I got to see the game on CSS... Temple looked like they didn't have a coach...it was pathetic unorganized, and chaotic...coach marcum looked like he as much control of his team as he did the officials...
  12. Temple got beat by 4 Lake county got beat by 6, 3 and 1- so I'd say temple gave them as good a game as anyone.... Union City only beat manassas last year by 2...pretty sure those were two really good games...keep you crap in your mouth... congrats temple need to play the best game of the season tomorrow...
  13. wow i was way off.....grace played like the team that got beat by a defeated baylor team earlier in the year....however I believe manassas forced them to play badly...thought grace was better...boy was I wrong...congrats to manassas...
  14. hey...you along with everyone else act like manassas should just be handed the gold ball now..or if humboldt won..they should just be given the gold ball... I am saying careful...grace could be a handful...and could just beat manassas...
  15. WOW OPEN MOUTH INSERT BIG FAT IDIOTIC FOOT!! I love how moronic you are... Mattheiss has been to the state tourney twice in the last 5-6 years..championship twice...two silver balls...can't seem to win the big one... I love that you are an idiot...
  16. Temple up 16 end of 3rd. 8-23 free throws... I think that is the worst of the day... even worse than humboldt... Sexton not playing well... Johnson not playing enough...missing all but 1 ft
  17. I don't doubt they will, good luck to manassas and grace... hopefully temple can get their thumbs out of their butts and play a better 2nd half and meet one of ya'll on sat...
  18. I also think a key reason grace will win is that church and herman are better than any two of manassas guards. my goodness. Nope I know that manassas doesn't always play like that...but now everyone knows that they CAN play like that...my goodness.
  19. What is oh my goodness...50% free throws... or the 27 turnovers??? just wondering...
  20. In my opinion this will be a great game...I think Grace is better than people think and what a way to start the tournament... great first game... I think Grace wins this game and gets to the final... If Grace can force turnovers (which obviously manassas isn't turnover proof) grace can win... Also Grace will never be out of the game because Manassas CAN struggle at the line...these two HUGE weaknesses could and I think will result in a Grace win...
  21. again because 2 teams are great/ dominant does not mean that the other teams are terrible... especially when those two teams and sometimes the 3rd are ALWAYS playing in state championship games... 2001, 2002, 2003, 2004, 2006, 2007(gold/silver) I will say that after CCS and Boyd (state champs 1996) left in 2005-2006 the competition was not AS good...but even then a good grace team emerged to play in the state ship against a great Union City Team, and Temple beat Humboldt and continued on to get gold in 2007...
  22. you forgot about CSAS....state runner up two years ago... CCS (before the multiplier) won gold in 2001...and I am not saying that year in and year out those teams are not good and provide great competition... however NONE of them have dominated the competition like Temple has...THE PAST 10 YEARS...and don't talk about the way things WOULD have been you don't know because 1) You are not Omniscient, and 2) it DIDN'T happen that way...union city was AA as were some other teams that eventually dropped down... I was just talking about what HAS Happened.... and to say that because the same two teams are consistently better from a particular region or district, and that necessarily means the competition is bad...is a illogical. Duke has won 9 of 12 ACC tournament championships...does that mean the competition is bad in the ACC because the same team keeps winning... terrible argument... especially when temple wins 3 gold balls by beating the best of the rest of the state... UNC and Duke are consistently the best teams in the ACC...does that mean everyone else is bad...is that why they win??? again really pathetic argument...
  23. So Humboldt and Manassas meet first game...amazingly unfortunate... As a Temple fan...things couldn't look better for us to get in the championship game...should be an interesting tournament...
  24. you are an idiot.... and I agree with gomocs...
  25. oh my word...they are a single a team....they have dominated there division...more than any other team in the state has dominated for the last 10 years...that was the point... eyeonyou...the point is that for the last 10 years they have dominated...not for all eternity...
