Okay, I heard thru the grape vine that the Lady Rangers lost against UH today. What happened in the game? Was it errors, no one able to get a hit, what seems to be the problem? UH has grown to be pretty solid, and they show that. Their coach has definitely took their program to a new level. So now the Lady Rangers will be traveling I suppose? Who does UH play? Ah well... good Luck Ladies.

Yeah, that game was close really. I hate that you all waited until the last inning to have your rally. Let's don't wait until the last inning of the UH game to get some hits - we need to start out fresh and early, jump on the ball. But anyways, today is the big day! Congradulations Lady Rangers! I wish you luck on Wednesday and please come prepared. Be focused and concentrate on the game. Let's don't give this game to them because more than anything that's what they want you to do. Let's cut down on the errors, and fight back so hard at UH. UH has it in their head that they are gonna win it all, let's prove em' wrong. I read in the JC Press this morning about McVeigh's no-hitter. So let's not give her one this Wednesday. I also read where one of them said they beat us at our place last year, um NO! Last year they never beat us on our HOME turf, they beat us when we played them over there and it was only one time (sorry but I wanted to clarify that) and after that game we faced them like 4 different times and beat them each time. So hopefully this third time's a charm is true. Good Luck Ladies!

Yeah MHeaton there is always next year, but this year you all have been cheated out of getting the chance to reclaim the districts and maybe even winning them. ...But anyways Good Luck Monday, go far in the tourney!

Analyzer, I agree with you. I mean I know that it rained pretty much everyday this week, but on Monday or Wednesday they could have had the games. Unaka has a good softball field and even with rain, they could have tried to get some games in. If this was TSSAA making this decision I think it's pretty stupid. What about North Greene or Cloudland? They didn't even get a chance to fight their battles and see what they would come in. Same as for Unaka and UH, they could have had another battle and Unaka could have came in top this time. Maybe the coaches thought this would be an easy thing to do and junk but I know if I was North Greene's coach, or even UH or Ronnie Hicks, I would have want to played. I don't see the fairness in it really. And I don't see why the TSSAA would give AAA & AA up until Saturday to finish their games, but not lil single A??? It's just messed up, but oh well there is nothing I can do.

You guys still have districts to go thru, so just practice hard for them. And don't let the loss to UH get you down! And try to do away with the errors, I read in the paper and it said something about Unaka making 8 errors, but batting wise you both put up a battle. Now as a former player, I understand that when it rains it does make things a little difficult, but remember that it rains on both sides of the field . Right now it is too late in the season to be making any errors...it is make it or break it time! ...just hang in there Lady Rangers, it will come around.

Will the districts be held at Unaka this year, or since UH won will it be at their home turf? I heard it was at Unaka, but only because the TSSAA determines where it is played at. Also, when does it start? I suppose Unaka will be starting off with North Greene. Good Luck Ladies.

Yep, the Lady Junior Bucs pulled it off and won the Conference with a score of 8 to 6. That game was a roller coaster! Both teams battled it all the way through, but Unaka seemed to come out on the short end. But don't get down Lady Rangers, you still got the districts to look forward to. It's not over yet. But as far as UH, they are pretty solid. They have improved a lot over the past couple of years, and I must admit they played and worked hard for the conference. But good luck to both teams come tourney time!

Well, I am happy for Cloudland. The coach and the group of girls up there have always shown their great sportsmanship and pride in their team. Have they got the chance to play Unaka yet? I wish them nothing but luck in the future.

Well, when they do walk through the district/regional tourney it's going to be a hard walk because I am sure they will meet UH everywhere they go. But I am hoping that they will do away with UH this week. If McVeigh and Williams are both on their game then more than likely it will be a pitching duel, but the defense better be ready to rise to the ocassion. In this game we need to do away with those mental mistakes we made in the first game! They will be playing on the Lady Ranger turf, so UH better come ready. Also, how did the Lady Rangers finish in the Tiny Day tournament? Who did they play against Sun. & did they win?

I agree completely with you Hayseed. I am personally tired of hearing it too, all about the education crap, County vs. City. And there has been teachers from the county go to the city for better money, and I don't blame them, but still it's their decision. Like Musick & Heaton coming to a county school, it was THEIR decision. I know of 3 that left Unaka to go to Elizabethton, one of them used to be our assistant softball coach and now he is an outstanding coach at tennis for Elizabethton. But they all did what was best for their families money wise, and I understand. But we don't bicker and complain about it just because of where he went. And as for the best softball coach, yeah Baxter is the man in this area with 2A softball. But in 1A, Coach Hicks holds the title in that. Just curious though CycloneHomer, are you a coach at Elizabethton of some sport? Let's say softball, and are you just trashing Unaka because your unhappy we got the 2 city girls you were hoping to recieve? Just wondering

I was refering to Hayseeds post, something about you bashing Unaka sports. I don't know your so called "facts" or whatever, or who you heard them from. Stuff gets started so quickly and more junk is added on to it you don't know what the truth is, besides it don't really matter to me. But as for the 2003 season, it's untelling who is going to walk away with it all. I think UH and Unaka is evenly matched. However I do think Unaka is going to have to work hard, they lost some key players from last yr but they are good at rebuilding. But like I once stated, if they stick with tradition it will help carry them through.

What's this about bashing Unaka? And about Musick & Heaton coming to Unaka, I believe they decided to come on their own. Coach Hicks did no recruiting, he is a smart man and he wouldn't be going against any TWSWA rules. I don't know why exactly those girls wanted to come to Unaka, could be of the great softball program we've always had, maybe they knew at Elizabethton they couldn't get that. ...But as far as your prediction, you never know what this season will bring.

First off his name is Ronnie, not Ronald. And I think they are both even. Sure UH came out stronger in the 1st game and won, it was a big win for them. But last year the same thing happened. Unaka lost to them @ UH by one point (mainly due to mental mistakes, and thats what happened in this past game). But they came back & beat them the other 4 times they faced each other after that. Won the conference, district, regional and shy of one game advancing to the state tournament. I think the next time they face each other, it will be a brawl. Unaka will give them a fight.

Unaka has always been the team to beat in their conference, and I think this year won't be any different from the rest. However, they are going to have their hands full with University High. UH has improved a lot, and they got a good young pitcher in McVeigh. But, if tradition repeats itself then Unaka will be walking away with it all.
