  1. i have been a topper fan for many many years and will always be one. i never said that he was not a good athelete and i'm sure he did practice hard and so did the others. just because he is a great baseball player doesn't mean he's a great quarterback, remember michael jordan. i am simply stating that he may not be the right man for the job, that is just life.
  2. last nights game showed that we still have a lot of work to do. with a team that is definitely talented but much smaller we should not have had so much trouble. did anyone else notice that we made some ajustments to defense from week one which seemed to not work near as well as at south. i also think there was some very bad play calling on offense which nearly cost us the game. i think it is clear that #4 is not a varsity quarterback much more talented ones standing on sidelines.we better get better quick because our conference games won't be so forgiving of mistakes.ss you have the talent do you have the knowledge to win?
  3. Anyone have any thoughts on the upcomming season? Players to watch? How things are going?
  4. how old are you? 12? seriously. Let me help you because you seem to be a little slow. The thread is on great Freshman. The idea behind it is very talented kids at a very young age. He is a talented player but he doesn't desirve mention on this thread about really good freshman. If you want to blow the kids head up feel free on another thread about great running backs. This thread should be about " true " Freshman with exceptional talent at a young age. I'm sure some 15 year old freshman would appreciate some mentions from the DB side. I feel bad for them because it seems they're all being overshadowed buy a kid that should be a sophomore and be compared to sophomores.
  5. apparently you missed the SH, DB game wacko. How many people did he run over or through? Fact-- a couple of our 15 year olds stopped him cold.
  6. You're talking it up enough for everyone......all I'm saying is he's not a "freshman" we could all hold our kids back and they would be impressive.......as I said we have a couple of 15 yo sophs that will be 16 yo juniors that you will hear much about.....unfortunately their ages won't be mentioned.......should we let them play with the freshman team next year??? What I saw of Chris in the SH game he's good..........not exceptionally good yet. Will he have another growth spurt? Is he finished growing? A lot can happen in 3 years. We had an awesome running back this year and all the hype gave him a horrible senior year. Maybe you should take your own advice ( and be silent) or every team will target him and his stats will decline as they did in the SH game.
  7. Sensabaugh is no doubt a good player........didn't get many yards in the SH game.........but too much is being made of him being "just a freshman"...........if you want to say he's a good player that's fine but c'mon.........lay off the Freshman stuff. We have a few outstanding soph. that got lots of time on Varsity this year that are only 15 and won't be 16 'till late summer. I can't control what other topper fans posted last summer. Thanks but no thanks for the advice on the silent approach. We had great talent this year and an outstanding defense. The offense never got it together. We all hope Coach Smith gets it together next year.
  8. Maybe they flipped because he was so much older................
  9. There is no word on the o line yet or the qb position. Lets hope coach will put the best players in those positions later when the pads come on and we see who the heavy hitters are. The boys seemed to have a new attitude comming out of the weight room this week with a lot of excitement about how hard they're working and are willing to work. We've got some great Jr's comming back next year, Jeff Green, Caleb Mancuso, Brandon Mc Auley, and Moses Green. The biggest changes ( in the line) should come from this years sophomore class. These guys have a great TEAM attitude and work very well Together. Defense should be great again next year with Jeff Green, Caleb Mancuso, and Logan Honeycutt setting the tone from the LB positions. Offensive leaders should be Ashlon Adams, Moses Green, Corey Mc Pherson, and Armando Canepa. If we can keep the attitudes in check and keep the energy they have right now we could have a great season next fall.
  10. First of all, Influence is what we're all upset about.........what kind of "coach" is worried about influence. If he wins games it doesn't matter if ' Johnny" the Dr's son, or teachers son gets to play. No one fires a winning coach. I agree the coach inherited some serious attitudes but he did nothing to change them. He let the same old bs trash talk and laziness continue and did nothing to correct it. The BENCH would've been a cure for that within the first few weeks of practice. Some of these " attitudes" would have easily been cured had these kids been sent to the sidelines to think about their attitude and commitment in the 90 degree temps. comming to practice every day just to stand in the heat and do nothing. Instead, ss came in with an " I'm your buddy attitude and we're going to have fun" and these kids ran all over him and so did some of the parents. Maybe you need to rent the movie, Remember the Titans and watch it. That coach didn't come in to a well conditioned team with heart and great attitude and just open a playbook and teach it.......WAKE UP!! The COACH built a TEAM with heart. That's what a coach is. We, at SHHS expected a COACH and a strong leader. I believe ss is a good man with a good heart but IMO he is in way over his head. He could be successful at SH but he needs to do a 180. The HEART of the team comes from the COACH. If a kid doesn't have heart or commitment..........introduce them to the sideline until they find it! ss also allowed the "seniors are superior " attitude to polute the team from the start and he even encouraged it. On the football field, all players are a team. There should be no senior, junior, sophomore. They are all ONE on the field and the BEST players for the position PLAY. The " personal fouls" comment, GO BACK and look at how many the COACHES got this year! The fans supported the coach and the team in the beginning but it's hard to support a coach that makes poor and wreckless decisions and ruins a team. IMO, he had some great athletes and instead of getting the best out of them, he allowed them to go backwards. No one is attacking ss on a personal level, he's a good man, but he's not a good coach. In a nutshell, here's a bit of advice to ss. Start next season with a whole new attitude. Make the team a team. Let it be known from the beginning that if you don't give 110% to the TEAM you will become very familiar with the sideline. If you don't support your BROTHERS you won't be on the team, no matter your talent or potential. DON'T separate the offense from the defense and allow trash talk within the team. DON'T cut corners and cut practices short. DON'T make poor decisions during games. STOP listening to " johnnys" daddy and stop listening to your other coaches (there're some poor attitudes there). Be the leader and build a winning TEAM.
  11. Obviously you know nothing of what's been going on with shhs football. Yes..........smith is a huge disappointment.......HUGE.........but so was our former coach........nothing personal. Just because the replacement is bad doesn't mean what we had was great. This post aside, thank you to all the kspt fans for all of the positive posts for our team and talent. I'm sure the boys really appreciate it.
