  1. Take some prosac pepvol, good gracious I just asked a question. You are suspiciously thin skinned when ever anybody brings up the quality of your schedule. Of the 21 schools you have beaten in the last 65 only 7 have you not played repeatedly, I'm sorry if you are offended by me bringing it up. I will admit that I know nothing about the quality of the other 14 schools you have played. By the way in the last 65 games by my count MBA has played 22 different teams. They included Louisville Trinity (4), Southhaven MS (2), Byrnes SC (we got killed), Dunbar KY, Antioch (2), Independence (state runner-up 5A), Hillsboro (2), Ravenwood, and Moeller OH. I understand why you are tired of this. You think that a 65 game winning streak gives you the right to claim to be the best, and you don't like it when you have to defend that schedule against those that say it is weak. Those of us on the other side that have to listen to the Maryville "crowing" get a little tired of hearing that as well. I doubt that we would be hearing about a 65 game winning streak if Maryville played the out of region games MBA has.
  2. I haven't studied Maryville"s schedule during the streak, so tell me how many different schools are represented by the 65 games?
  3. I promise this is the last time. MBA has 2 Senior starters out too, the center and a D Lineman. One of our other Dlineman was playing with one arm. Everybody has injuries, teams have to play through it.
  4. Give the Big Red some credit. Good teams that know how to win, win those games.
  5. They have the same long snapper they had last year, I don't remember any problems last year. The fumbles are a problem that need to be fixed. Part of the problem is that it has been a different player in every game. They fix one and then another one fumbles. Hopefully the fumbles are now out of their system. The penalties are as much a result of aggressive play. I thought the Hillsboro game was poorly officiated and it hurt both teams. William Tanner was called for a late hit that caused a loss of down as well. The coaches said that William was playing the way they coached him to play, the official thought it was late but the coaches thought it was fine. We had a TD called back because a wide receiver covered up the tight end. They will fix that. The Hillsboro game had kind of a wierd ebb and flow. The INT in the first drive really hurt us. The blocked field goal in a perverse way hurt us too. Hillsboro drove the ball well to get into positon to try that field goal, we blocked it and returned it for a TD, then had to kick the ball right back to them. Our defense didn't get a breather and the offense was kept on the sideline. We forced a punt but got the ball deep in our own end and fumbled on third down giving Hillsboro the ball deep in our end. Our coaches insist that they charted 4 time outs in the 1st half for Hillsboro, the last one being right before the play they scored on. If that was the 4th time out and they hadn't gotten it there is a good chance time would have run out before they could have scored. After half time we kicked off to them. So in the span of about 45 minutes I guess in real time our offense ran 3 plays. When they came back in the 2nd half they were out of sinc and couldn't keep the defense off the field. Sometimes games move in strange ways.
  6. What if is younger brother Silver Tate is attacked
  7. MBA is certainly capable of scoring 34 points, but they will have to improve to do it. They could have been up 28-0 in the 1st half at Hillsboro except for turnovers and penalties. I'm not sure I want to be the team on the receiving end of it when MBA puts it all together, but to this point they really haven't.
  8. Thanks, I tried to check that score before I posted, I must have found last years. I know JPII has lost to Ryan, who else have they lost to and who have they beaten?
  9. oh ya, last year when we played JPII we returned the opening kickoff for a touchdown, and the rest of the night went downhill from there for JPII. The year before they beat us at home. We put the ball on the ground 2 or 3 times in the redzone, and probably 6 times all together. It was not pretty.
  10. I don't know what to think about this one. I think we will win, but I really don't know what to expect in this one. The team that keeps messing up my thinking is Goodpasture. Goodpasture beat JPII, they beat Ravenwood, and Ravenwood goes out and beats BA. I know you can't tell much from a scrimmage, but we scrimmaged Goodpasture and they were not competitive. So either Goodpasture has improved like crazy since the end of the 2nd week of 2 a days, or these other teams aren't very good. I don't know which it is.
  11. That is a lot of travel. That trip from one end of the state to the other is long and now days expensive. I can only speak for myself but I hate that trip from Nashville to Memphis and back, unless there is time to get to DT Memphis for some ribs.
  12. I can't say with any certainty that the call has ever been made from MBA to Maryville to schedule a game, only the people that schedule the games can say for sure. Maryville's schedule seems to be set year in and year out. I do know though that outside of our region games MBA sometimes has a difficult time filling in the schedule. That has something to do with having to play the out of state teams. The emnity between public/private has seemed to be greater in middle Tennessee then in the other 2 parts of the state, and until a couple of years ago we had a hard time scheduling games with local public schools. The Williamson County schools have seemed willing to play and that has helped. Last year we played Antioch, Hillsboro, Independence, and Ravenwood. This year we play Antioch, Hillsboro, and Ravenwood. I do remember Jeff Rutledge (former coach and AD) saying that he called 75 schools trying to fill in the last game on the schedule. MBA always plays week zero as well. They want to have an off week during the season for fall-break so the boys can make college visits etc. MBA has been willing to schedule Bolles, Trinity, Byrnes, and Moeller in recent years. I would be confidant that if the opportunity ever arose to play Maryville we would jump at it.
  13. Coach McGugin was a graduate assistant with Larry Coker at Miami 3 or 4 years ago. So it kinda makes sense.
  14. Please don't lump MBA in with the legal issues. That is all a BA thing.
  15. I don't disagree with any of this. Pepvol I challenge you however to go back through this thread and find a place where I used the term "overrated" in describing Maryville, becaqse I haven't. I do have great respect for any group of 16-18 year old that can be as consistant and as focused as this Maryville group has been over the last few years. That is a tremendous accomplishment. After a while I am sure the coaches have trouble making the boys think they are not unbeatable. Through this string of wins though there are likely to have been teams around the state good enough to beat but you haven't played them. Not many teams most likely but some. I have said this before, last year MBA and Maryville would have been a heck of a game. The teams don't play so we just end up fussing at each other. My last comment is this. I can't speak for any other private school but MBA, but if you look closely you will see that we don't have boys coming from all over middle Tennessee to play football. We get boys from around Nashville, but I would bet that we have more boys from outside Davidson County that do no play sports then we have that do.
  16. I hope you do. I just hope that if we meet in the playoffs it is you coming Nashville. I hate that trip to Memphis.
  17. Man you are sensitive. I wasn't suggesting that Maryville should cancel their game with Alcoa. However, when you want to do something bad enough there is usually a way to work it out.
  18. I didn't attack anyone. I said Maryviile is the best 4A program in the state. What more do you want me to say? You can't ignore 64 straight wins. I just believe that to claim to be the best you have to beat the best, and Maryville hasn't done that. How would Maryville last year have stacked up against Smyrna or MBA? We will never know, but this started because a Maryville fan claimed that because they had won 4 straight 4A titles they were the best team in the state. I just don't think that is all that meaningful. Sorry you think I'm immature. And for whatever it is worth, I really don't know right now who is the best.
  19. You have beaten the best in 4A and below. I will give you that Maryville is the best 4A program in the state, but that isn't the same thing as being the best in the state. Come on out and play some of the top 5A teams and DII teams. If you beat them then you can lay claim to being the best in the state. but until you play you are just making noise.
  20. Well come out of your hollor and play with the big boys sometime. If you want to claim to be the best you have to beat the best
  21. MBA was blitzing every down, and the QB was taking beating, he was getting knocked down on every throw, and looked like he was playing on 1 leg. He was really having to get rid of the ball quick, and he didn't have time to sit back and chose receivers. That is why I called the kid a warrior earlier. I thought he played great. Soloman, sorry if I offended you. I don't know what it was exactly, digging at Maryville's schedule, or dogging the ref's? Both deserve comments. Maryville just not here and I apologized for bringing it up.
