  1. Tonight I witnessed basketball history. Harpeth had the ball, getting ready to put up a shot. Someone from Stewart Co.(on defense at the time) calls a timeout...and the timeout was GRANTED!!!! After trying to sort this out the refs declare it a jumpball and the posession arrow was in favor of Stewart Co. There were several calls that were terrible in my opinion-both ways.
  2. I don't believe its been mentioned, however, Congrats to Kevin Giltner on scoring his 1,000th point against Fairview last week. Any thoughts on the Harpeth game tomorrow?
  3. Coach Turner, Harpeth Asisstant Coach, is Dirks Bentley's twin. /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" />
  4. lets face the facts: 1) Thyler Guye is a good athlete. 2) Tyler Guye QUIT the Sycamore Basketball team. 3) Tyler returned the team. 4) He recieved a 5-game suspension. 5) He is now back in the line-up for the War Eagles...with a new look. /biggrin.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="biggrin.gif" /> If this had been another person on the team who was as much of a contributer the situation probably would have been handled differently. Tyler is a starter for Sycamore and Coach Froedden was going to get him back in the line-up asap. Any competitive coach would have done this, and I know Coach Froedden is a competitor.
  5. Great post!!! Hopefully this will enlighten some people on athletics in general at Harpeth.
  6. I believe Brown played left when Chris Hale wasn't pitching and 1st when he did pitch.
  7. Kevin Giltner was the one who missed the three w/ appoximately 1 minute to play.
  8. Where is BigCountry with the standings/win-loss heading into the week? Any big match-ups to look forward to?
  9. Last Night Harpeth didn't need to used an inside game. I can ,however, promise you that if they weren't shooting as well as they were, they would have tried to establish so sort of inside threat. By the way, the times that they did take it inside Giltner made the big guy look like a little kid.
  10. Dixon played a good game. overall a good match-up. Harpeth seemed to be improved form last night. Had some bad passes and questionable shot selection at times. Harpeth is still not playing top notch ball. Hopefully their saving up for the tourney. /biggrin.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="biggrin.gif" />
  11. The Indians were getting beat by 40 at the start of the 4th.
  12. correct me if I'm wrong ksgovols, but wasn't the goodpasture game Kevin's high for the year outside of the Cascade game and maybe Kenwood? I missed the game so I have some questions for you I want you to rate 1-10: boxing out, defense, shooting, and overall player of the game? Try to compare G'pasture to a team that we have played thus far. Thanks in advance Ksgovols (or hhsnumber1fan). Good luck to Harpeth as they travel to CPA tonight.
  13. Obviously you didn't see the Sycamore game. I don't have the tape of that game on me /biggrin.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="biggrin.gif" /> , however if memory serves me right Harpeth had turnovers in critical points of the game to change the mometum. Not to mention having poor shot selection at times as well. So for you rebuttal to hold any weight in MY OPINION you would have to have seen the previous games that Harpeth has played. All three OPINIONS that ksgovols, hhsnumber1fan, and myself made were based on the Sycamore and and/or previous games played this year.
  14. it was after a Harpeth turnover. He was speaking to his bench players. I would agree that he threw Tyler's name in their simply because he was hitting that night. However, Kevin should get at least a touch 9 out of 10 possession Harpeth has, especially in half court situations. He is by far that smartest player on the team. He'll make a good decision with the ball almost all the time. (Notice I didn't say he will make every shot.)
  15. I agree with what is being said about Harpeth for the most part. 1st of all ksvols is right about the DCHS big man. they leave him in and they win the game. However, I believe Harpeth played the best team ball they have played this year. Granted they only scored 47 which is 20 or so off the norm but I believe they made smarter decisions with the ball. Hapreth does need to get the ball in the hands of Kevin and Tyler more (Wilson said this on the bench during the game.). Tyler is a GREAT 3-point shooter and has also improved his post moves greatly. Kevin has great overall skill and GREAT basketball knowledge. Harpeth also needs to improve on boxing-out!! We are letting teams get too many second chances. Overall I don't think it was a bad effort at all. This team isn't far away from putting a great run together. /wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink.gif" />
  16. i hate to hear the tragic news about the Goodpasture president. I believe the week break for Hapreth will play into their favor. I think Coach Wilson will have his players get back to the fundamentals. This will put the team in the position to the strict brand of ball Wilson likes to play. I don't know much about G'pasture, however I would say 2 of out 3 wins (and keep the CPA game close) next week will put Harpeth back where they need to be. The season is still very young don't count anyone out of the regular season hunt, yet.
  17. Big Country do you believe this big guy or potts could have impacted the Harpeth matchup considering the way Harpeth performed that night?
  18. where was this guy when Harpeth played Cheatham?
  19. a big stat for Harpeth, IMO, is this: Kevin Giltner is 16% from 3- point land on the year. (according to my very reliable sources) Not only is Kevin needed on the floor for his basketball knowledge, but also he needs to produce some numbers in order for the Harpeth team everyone expects to see play live up to their hype. Right now Harpeth needs to put this game behind them and focus on the next opponent in G'pasture. The season would flop for Harpeth if they keep Sycamore in their minds. These two teams don't match-up again until the last game of the season...and besides, once it comes down to it, how much does the regular season mean for teams like Harpeth and Sycamore other than bragging rights?
  20. very very very sloppy play tonight for Harpeth. First off, no one could hit a shot. Secondly, IMO, terrible passing. Lastly, sub-par defense. This combination SHOULD equal a loss for Harpeth. However, Harpeth managed to survive on athletism for the victory. If Harpeth plays the brand of basketball played tonight, the War Eagles will have their way with them. As for my views regarding the friday match-up: Harpeth will try to run the floor earily as always. this should set the tone for the game. Hudson will have a lead role. Momentum seems to shift quickly if his jumpers are falling. (they are unstoppable if he is in rythme). Demsey will also be a big factor. IMO, if Demsey can stay out of foul trouble it will be a last possession game. Having not seen Sycamore play this year I'm not going to make a definite prediction, but I'll say 4 points either way.
  21. Dr. Elrod (Flippo's surgeon) says thats this is the earliest he has ever released someone of this type of injury. that speaks volumes for how well holli has pushed herself. look for harpeth to play a different brand of basketball from here on out.
  22. Giltner(Wofford signee-which is D-1)-18 Trey Cauthers-14 Tyler Cauthers-13 Maybe an ACC scout in attendance...
  23. from what I have read I'm guessing that the HHS-LHS game was a blow-out. Just for curiosity sake, what was the final score of that game?
  24. great 1st half of this game. IMO the turning point was when CPA increased their lead from 2 to 6 in the last 4 seconds of the 2nd quarter. Momentum was definitely stifted totally to CPA at that point. Harpeth obviously couldn't bounce back in the second half. Z is a great ball player, very fun to watch. I would love to see him go against someone his own size and similar athletic ability. However, this game was the great game for Harpeth. Playing this competition will only help them not only in district play but region as well. They will also see how they stack up in the region this weekend when they travel to Jackson for a Turkey Weekened Tourney. Good Luck to both squads throughout the season!
