I haven't seen tham play yet, but i have been doing some scoreboard watching. They appear to be off and running.

How good is Sunbright? Thought I read where they were having or expected to have a pretty good season. I agree, Oneida game will be better to watch.

Cosby, GCA, Berean, OS, and probably one of the district 1 teams(Unaka/Hampton/Cloudland).

There is no way HHS can beat Rockwood, not this week anyhow. The experience factor will be the key. HHS has played TSD 2x and Greenback. Mcgill will be the key, can HHS get enough from him to keep it close? RHS is bigger, more experienced. Coaching is close to even. Athletically, advantage HHS. HHS 48 RHS 61 The girls game will be more competitive, get there early.

Sunbright looks to be having a good season. Midway appears to be young and inexperienced. I'll take the Tigers. Greenback is on the rise. Oneida doesn't have enough fire power to hang with the Kees. Kees breeze in the battle of the---politically incorrect---thank you for not changing your nick names---Native Americans.

Who wins thes games tonight in your opinion? Greenback is the class of District 3, Oneida still a tough team to play against. I'll take Greenback in this one. Sunbright has to win this one or else it will be a loooooong season in that district. Midway gave a young Coalfield team a hard-fought game last week. I'll take Midway in a close one.

And one other thing, GCA may not make it out of 1st round districts this season. From what i have been told, Berean will come in as bottom seed. which more than likely will pit GCA vs. Berean 1st round. Uh Oh......... the public schools are sitting back and snickering on this one. Of course something might happen to get this possibility changed.

"their problem"??? this is high school athletics. not college or pro! WHS doesnt get to recruit who they want to come and play. they play who is at their school. if it were UT vs. Kentucky, then yes----it is their responsibilty to stop them. sometimes schools just have better players than other schools. Coach Lamb is a good coach, and i don't think he holds the same opinion as you on "their problem" to stopping his team from embarrassing another.

"BASKETBALL SCHOOL" ????? No, Oakdale is not a basketball school. Maybe a "girls basketball" school. the boys team has been no more than mediocre for some time now. going back to previous coach. just not much talent coming through and staying. Mike has instilled fight into his teams over the last few years. they arent the push over they were at one time. there have been fantastic athletes that have transferred because of football that have definitely hurt the basketball team. there have been big kids that were just plain lazy, that should have dominated. to my memory the best team/players that i recall was mid to late 80's when porter, goldston and company came through. give barber credit for fielding a team that competes and does so in a very physical district.

this game was a game of runs. CAK ended up with the win. CAK has good team speed and they play incredibly hard. they don't have much height, but rebounded very aggressively. seems like the new coach is doing a good job. Kingston has a lot of talent, and just didn't get the job done. The team looked much-improved since last year when they had some problems. They have got to make layups and FT's. If they had, they would have won. One thing that stuck out was Kingston has one girl that decides(after being subbed) she is going to pull her chair as far away from other players as possible. and then sit there even when the entire team is huddled during a timeout. and she's a senior! If these girls will get on the same page and support one another, they will have a very good season. But one bad apple will spoil the bunch.

I think it will be a good game. CAK lost the Novikoff(sp) girl form last year and apparently has a new coach. RCHS has height, but not sure of guard play.

now that we are a couple of weeks into it and eveyone has a few games under their belt, any surprises?

Saw where they scored only 17 against Oakdale. They had been playing really well considering they are so young. Was this game just a bad shooting night, case of inexperience or was someone out? I still say they are going to be a spoiler this year for someone.

How are they looking for this season? Haven't heard anyting on the board about them. They seemed to be an up nad coming team last season.

Seems like the uniform company would have known the rule. It is a National High School Federation Association rule. I blame them more than the school/coach.

they will be a growing team this year and will have to be reckoned with for the years to come, if they stay together and keep improving. Very talented freshman class. I think they will win a few games they "aren't supposed to win".

Poor lil old Midway............Apparently they have no chance against these Dogs. Someone call their school and tell them to cancel the bus, just forfeit and save everyone a long drive up and an even longer one back. Hampton 75 Midway 2 Hampton takes a safety to end the game because they feel sorry for Midway.

Heard Morgan and the assistant principal had a disagreement the other day. Any word on that? Hope he doesn't lose his job over it.

ptguard12/os91.........where do you see Lambert from McMinn Central? I have sources that say she might be a Georgia commit soon. I know Warlick evaluated her as a freshman. I didnt see her name on any of the lists you guys posted. Thanx for any info.

I am interested to see SD this season. After all that has taken place the last year, interested to see how they play under Coach Barnes. Good luck to them.

This will be a good test for the Lady Eagles. They, IMO, are a state tourney contender along with OS.
