  1. Thats right. A school of SQHS's size in students shouldn't have to beg for football players. We have almost enough students to go to a 4A region. Which is what Cleveland, and Maryville both are in. I still like to go back to when we made the third round of the playoffs there was 77 players lifting weights and after Meadows left the number went down to 25. So he had the interest up around here. So football can come up in popularity it has been done before. It is going to take winning and not be changing coaches every 2 or 3 years.
  2. It must be working look where the high school teams are now in Blount County for example. someone coaching it Those teams just seem to reload year after year. Maryville' middle school won the league again. Go to Maryville Middle School's web site they have their stats etc on that site.
  3. Was wondering if starting some middle school football would help? I know Meadows was wanting to start middle school football and he was going to make whoever was the coach part of the staff at the high school on Friday nights where he could teach them the same plays as the high school would run so when they got to high school they knew how to run them. He said that Portland and all those teams had middle school football. I know all of Blount Co. has middle school football. He is a master at the wing T type plays but he had people fast enough to run it at the time with Brackett, and the Berong kid. Maybe they could find some of the old videos of the games back then and see how they ran it. He still runs it at William Blount.
  4. Somebody else is using my initials. This is the one that runs the scoreboard. I wouldn't bad mouth the team in anyway. Hope I can clear this up. They have made some pretty bad hires since Meadows left. Those before this coach let the program get down so far that it will take a while to get back. Meadows just couldn't get a long with the county school board (Lovingood) they were always on him about something. I too wish him success in the playoffs. I will go see him some during the playoffs. He went through some tough times loosing his step son and all. Hope this clears my name. I have been too faithful to the school to have it go bad now. Thanks Greg Jones
