  1. where did you play football for 26 years? I didn't know Clover Bottom had a team...... /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" />
  2. why is this thread still breathing.....let this one go and post on more recent and relevant ones
  3. you know nothing about me and my football knowledge or ability. I am not throwing Elrod under the bus, I am not calling him out. If you go back and read all my other posts, I have admitted that he is a very good coach, but that I would like to see him be successgul against Riverdale. I have never been a part of a program that finished below 4-6. With that being said, I am not knocking your ability because I do not know you. I am not knocking Coach Elrod's ability becasue I do no know him. I was just stating that my opinion is that if he is as great as everyone says, he will be successful Friday night and I will be happy to eat my words. I am sure he is a good guy based on the fact that everyone feels compelled to come to his defense. Why does everything on here have to be so personal. I have not taken one personal shot at him.......I do know that there is much more to football than x's and o's.....I have experienced it first hand. But, if you have been in coaching as long as you say you have, you know that the coaches are the ones to take the blame, even if the kids are the problem. Look at UT . I was not aware that certain people are granted exemptions from their play calling being put into question. Please don't make this personal, I haven't. BTW, the game isn't about the coaches, it is about the kids and the lifelong memories they are creating every week. It should be a fine matchup between 2 programs and 2 groups of kids. Why don't we return our focus to that. And I am sure you will say that I started all of this. All I said at the beginning was that if he can pull this off, I will jump on the "guru" bandwagon happily ( this is a paraphrase, of course) ****Disclaimer**** Opinionated people, please do not post. You're not allowed to have one ****
  4. how long have you been at your current post? I may have a few connections
  5. why are people trying to make this so personal......you folks need to get over yourselves sometimes. I didn't know that it was against the law to have your own opinion. gee whiz..... I was rooting for WC to pull this out, but if this is the way ya'll act.......maybe not
  6. well, sir, there is much more to know about football than just Wes Elrod. Once again, I am not hating on the guy, I just wanted to know what his creds were. Relax. What big ones has he won, and how recently? Enlighten me....
  7. which side will you be on? I will support WC in this one
  8. When I was referring to your "knowledge", it had more to do with your knowledge of the last game. The defense did not play poorly considering the situations the offense put them in. Riverdale will even vouch for the fact that our defense didn't play poorly, they were just not being helped by the offense. The offensive line is supposed to be Elrod's specialty and they were whipped last game. Let's see if it gets corrected. Technique can be taught, technique can defeat pure skill, so let's see if they are coached up
  9. I am not saying Elrod is not a good coach. All I am saying is that if he is a true "guru" he will figure out a way to move the ball and make plays against Riverdale. He was out-coached in the last meeting by a d-coordinator from Hartsville. He hasn't been successful against Riverdale yet. Coach Adeylott's wing-t was much more efficient. I personally hope to goodness that he can figure something out. I am rooting for him to do it and knock off "cocky" Riverdale.(even thought they have earned the right to be so)
  10. well, I am sure he doesn't really care what I think. However, for me to consider him a "guru", he does in fact need my validation. In case you did not know, that is how people form opinions, they validate them to themselves. By the way, the WC defense played outstanding in my opinion considering Riverdale started in WC territory nearly everytime they had the ball. I think WC only had 19 total yards in the first half and only gave up 13 points. Who are you kidding? My validation where you are concerned stems from the fact that you don't know nearly as much as you think you do. How many championships did Elrod win? How many in 3A or higher?
  11. well, I have heard and read lots of good things about WC's offensive mastermind Wes Elrod. I have looked back though, and he has not been able to win the big one yet in 5A(don't know about early career). I think someone should earn the title of "guru", and this game can do it for Elrod. I do not know the man, but if he can pull out this one(last game was horrible offensively), he will be a guru in my mind. This chance only comes along every so often, so let's see what WC and their coaching staff has up their sleeves.
  12. get over yourself, I was just making an observation about the pic........gee....
  13. I don't think I would have posted that pic. By defintion, pass interference in high school football is not based on a ball being catchable. IMO, it looks like the WC receiver is being hit and prevented from making a play on the ball. That is pass interference, and it should not have counted. Definitely puts that game's result in question. Is it another favorable call for the Warriors?
  14. The only reason Smyrna fans should be on this board is to maybe voice their opinion on how this shakes out. They have played both teams, and should have an idea of what they believe. Secondly, I am just pleased to see WC getting some credit for the way the boys have played this season. They were picked dead last in the region and are still fighting and playing hard. Honestly, I would love to see WC take this game and run the table this season. They are a young football team and opportunities like this don't come along every season for every team. They are on one heck of a run and I would like to see them pull it out. We all know Riverdale will be right back in the mix next year, when will WC have another shot like this? These are 2 of the better teams I have seen play all year. Whomever wins this game could very well win it all. But the old saying is true, "To be the man, you've got to beat the man."
  15. I have noticed at the WC games I have attended that they do have a student section of about 50 that are really showing up.....but you are right, the rest of the crowd is like one big stick in the mud. Just think of what this program could do with some real fans.......
  16. well, history will be made tonight. Coffee Co. has never won a playoff game, and WC has never won a road playoff game. One of those streaks end tonight. I am rooting for the Wildcats on this one. It is hard to beat a team twice, but if anyone can overcome that, this over-achieving bunch can. Remember, they were picked to finish last.
  17. why are you picking against you region in every thread? you just are hoping you don't have to play Lebanon or WC again, huh?
  18. first of all, you must not think too much of your team, since it took all you had to squeeze out a win against WC last week. Secondly, ya'll have a much greater chance of taking it on the chin from Cookeville. Don't forget, Cookeville beat Lebanon, and Lebanon ruined your homecoming.
  19. If I were working off of a site, how could I have responded so quickly? Check the times small fry..... BTW I was there and have been a student of the game of football for nearly 20 years......that's right, before you were even born. You are the one that keeps taking the attention away from the true nature of this thread......
  20. Riverdale definitely wins this one going away, but they will have a region rematch the next week....and we all know how that scenario worked out for them last year
  21. and let's see...what can I tell you about your program you didn't know......hmmm..... In 1993, you suffered a 6-0 loss to Lebanon. It was the last time Riverdale was shut out in region play. You also were not region champs that year. Your starting QB that night, who was supposed to be so great, finished his career at Cumberland University with a losing record. What about your superstar QB Alvin Duke? Or, maybe the great Antron Peebles? Should I even mention Eric Locke? How about my knowledge of your offensive sets or your defensive schemes, should that be my next post?
  22. You are intimidated, and it is okay. You have bitten off much more than you can chew, and that is okay as well. BTW I have forgotten more about football than you will ever know. Got that, little fella......
  23. I know that, and I was just making a "snide" remark. You are the one who decided to challenge me on it. I know you Warriors are not used to losing anything, but you just lost a battle of wits with me and it tears your little warrior heart up inside. I am sorry. It is just too much fun when arguing with a teenager....it is so easy!!! BTW, what do you mean by gay? Are you talking about happy? That is what that word means. Now, if you are wanting to make some sort of confession, that defintely is another message board entirely.
  24. however, you also skipped english. It should say, " You're an idiot, man." You just proved my point. Who's the idiot now?
