  1. fantastic high school football game! Seymour's offense was pretty much unstoppable once #15 came in at QB, that kid is a wizard in that offense - Carter just couldn't find the football. That said, and absolutely no disrespect meant to Seymour, Carter probably wins if they avoid penalties. From what Carter fans said tonight, it's an ongoing problem that has yet to be addressed and may well wash them out of the playoffs early again if they don't do something to correct it.
  2. geez d112369, don't you ever get tired of being wrong? TSSAA just released numbers: Seymour - 1,216, Carter - 1,028 (but, hey, you were within 200 or so). Ole Red's looking forward to visiting Carter and seeing some real Friday night, East Tennessee, smash mouth football. If I was betting, I'd have to take Carter.
  3. looks to me like #10 should learn to move his feet and quit reaching and slapping ... just an unbiased observation
  4. Trying to decide which game will be the best. Will some of you "self-styled commentators" help me out?
  5. Trying to decide which game to attend. Will some of you "self-styled commentators" help me out? Thanks.
  6. It would be quite a feat if AC came back and won after that 2nd week 44-7 beatdown Fulton laid on them
  7. Max, High School Heroes picked Carter two to one. Does that change your pick? This one comes down to pride and, probably, whoever has the ball last.
  8. Come on Miney and Kev, you guys are smarter than that. Miney, most times you make some sense but this time it sounds like you're just talking to hear yourself talk. Kev, I understand, I'd like to see region 1 take a couple of games but ain't gonna happen, especially not in this one. Best case, seymour keeps it respectable.
  9. Legend - LA lost an extraordinary athlete and QB, Wilson Cates - one of those guys who does special things and makes everybody on the team better. I know there were guys around him but he was what made them go. The kid pulled off one of the most extraordinary runs I've ever seen in the state championship game - and it was just a 3 or 4 yarder.
  10. Thaks for the info TadVols. I've heard the same thing from enough folk that I guess there must be some truth to it. I'm not close enough to the Carter program to have any firsthand knowledge. I work with the dad of a Carter player and I do know there's certainly no love lost between the Falcons and the Hornets. However, I was at the games between these two the last two years and I'd have to say there was plenty of bad behavior on the part of both side's fans - enough so that my daughter wanted to leave well before the game was over last year. Regardless, the Carter-Rutledge game shouold be a good one but Carter's speed should carry the day unless the combination of emotion and physicality (and a turnover or two) allows Rutledge to get and hold momentum. I'll give you 3 out of 4 on the region 1 vs region 2 match-ups but 1 beats 4 (and then, of course, loses in round 2). By the way R2T, sorry if I hit a nerve - I thought I was funnin with another old fart like me, not a youngster with the competetive juices still flowing.
  11. R2T's words - "So, what do you expect out of a Fulton player? Fulton has no class" The truest statement you've ever posted R2T.
  12. R2T and class - mutually exclusive concepts (but what would you expect from a Fulton fan)
  13. My apologies to the Carter defense, they were plenty physical enough and obviously well coached and prepared for a one dimensional Seymour offense. Looks like the offense is playing to its strengths now. The Hornets are still the class of this region but the kicking game and a general lack of discipline (i.e., personal fouls/foolish penalties) may well cost them in the playoffs, if not before. Seymour will need to regroup and make sure they hold onto 2nd place and even that may not be enough to keep them alive come playoff time unless they develop the passing game.
  14. Having seen both teams play twice, Carter has a definite speed advantage but may not be physical enough, especially at LB (if 22 and/or 66 are out, it hurts even more). To take advantage of it though, they'll need to tighten up the rotation and put their best players in the right positions and keep them on the field as much as possible. The more snaps 11 gets at QB and 15 gets at safety, the better for the Hornets. This Seymour team has a BIG advantage in special teams play and won't be taken advantage of mentally like they were last year. If Carter can put all their guys on the field and in the right positions, they take it by a TD. If not, Seymour mans up on them and takes it by a TD or more based on at least one big special teams play.
  15. I don't know about the smack talk, photo. I do know that Carter has played the games on their schedule, won their share, taken some lumps and played football when most schools are talking basketball for the last three years. That indicates a program on the rise, especially considering history. And I've never heard anyone in green talk about moral victories. The Hornets are young and inexperienced this year and have seen a definite drop in the level of the talent pool but as Bill Bellicheat would say: AE is in the past, time to focus on the Chargers (or whoever's next). Next year against AE is a long way off. By the way, I don't put a lot of stock in what the puppet frog says ... dude dates a pig.
