  1. fantastic high school football game! Seymour's offense was pretty much unstoppable once #15 came in at QB, that kid is a wizard in that offense - Carter just couldn't find the football. That said, and absolutely no disrespect meant to Seymour, Carter probably wins if they avoid penalties. From what Carter fans said tonight, it's an ongoing problem that has yet to be addressed and may well wash them out of the playoffs early again if they don't do something to correct it.
  2. geez d112369, don't you ever get tired of being wrong? TSSAA just released numbers: Seymour - 1,216, Carter - 1,028 (but, hey, you were within 200 or so). Ole Red's looking forward to visiting Carter and seeing some real Friday night, East Tennessee, smash mouth football. If I was betting, I'd have to take Carter.
  3. looks to me like #10 should learn to move his feet and quit reaching and slapping ... just an unbiased observation
  4. Trying to decide which game will be the best. Will some of you "self-styled commentators" help me out?
  5. Trying to decide which game to attend. Will some of you "self-styled commentators" help me out? Thanks.
  6. It would be quite a feat if AC came back and won after that 2nd week 44-7 beatdown Fulton laid on them
  7. Max, High School Heroes picked Carter two to one. Does that change your pick? This one comes down to pride and, probably, whoever has the ball last.
  8. Come on Miney and Kev, you guys are smarter than that. Miney, most times you make some sense but this time it sounds like you're just talking to hear yourself talk. Kev, I understand, I'd like to see region 1 take a couple of games but ain't gonna happen, especially not in this one. Best case, seymour keeps it respectable.
  9. Legend - LA lost an extraordinary athlete and QB, Wilson Cates - one of those guys who does special things and makes everybody on the team better. I know there were guys around him but he was what made them go. The kid pulled off one of the most extraordinary runs I've ever seen in the state championship game - and it was just a 3 or 4 yarder.
  10. Thaks for the info TadVols. I've heard the same thing from enough folk that I guess there must be some truth to it. I'm not close enough to the Carter program to have any firsthand knowledge. I work with the dad of a Carter player and I do know there's certainly no love lost between the Falcons and the Hornets. However, I was at the games between these two the last two years and I'd have to say there was plenty of bad behavior on the part of both side's fans - enough so that my daughter wanted to leave well before the game was over last year. Regardless, the Carter-Rutledge game shouold be a good one but Carter's speed should carry the day unless the combination of emotion and physicality (and a turnover or two) allows Rutledge to get and hold momentum. I'll give you 3 out of 4 on the region 1 vs region 2 match-ups but 1 beats 4 (and then, of course, loses in round 2). By the way R2T, sorry if I hit a nerve - I thought I was funnin with another old fart like me, not a youngster with the competetive juices still flowing.
  11. R2T's words - "So, what do you expect out of a Fulton player? Fulton has no class" The truest statement you've ever posted R2T.
  12. R2T and class - mutually exclusive concepts (but what would you expect from a Fulton fan)
  13. My apologies to the Carter defense, they were plenty physical enough and obviously well coached and prepared for a one dimensional Seymour offense. Looks like the offense is playing to its strengths now. The Hornets are still the class of this region but the kicking game and a general lack of discipline (i.e., personal fouls/foolish penalties) may well cost them in the playoffs, if not before. Seymour will need to regroup and make sure they hold onto 2nd place and even that may not be enough to keep them alive come playoff time unless they develop the passing game.
  14. Having seen both teams play twice, Carter has a definite speed advantage but may not be physical enough, especially at LB (if 22 and/or 66 are out, it hurts even more). To take advantage of it though, they'll need to tighten up the rotation and put their best players in the right positions and keep them on the field as much as possible. The more snaps 11 gets at QB and 15 gets at safety, the better for the Hornets. This Seymour team has a BIG advantage in special teams play and won't be taken advantage of mentally like they were last year. If Carter can put all their guys on the field and in the right positions, they take it by a TD. If not, Seymour mans up on them and takes it by a TD or more based on at least one big special teams play.
  15. I don't know about the smack talk, photo. I do know that Carter has played the games on their schedule, won their share, taken some lumps and played football when most schools are talking basketball for the last three years. That indicates a program on the rise, especially considering history. And I've never heard anyone in green talk about moral victories. The Hornets are young and inexperienced this year and have seen a definite drop in the level of the talent pool but as Bill Bellicheat would say: AE is in the past, time to focus on the Chargers (or whoever's next). Next year against AE is a long way off. By the way, I don't put a lot of stock in what the puppet frog says ... dude dates a pig.
  16. Tadpole, what the heck is a moral victory? Unlike baseball, in football sometimes you win and sometimes you lose (there's a winner or loser even when it rains) but there are no moral victories. You play whoever is on your schedule (with a large portion of that schedule dictated by whatever region the TSSAA assigns you to). If you win enough games you qualify for the playoffs and if you do that, you've had a better season than most of the other teams in the state. Only one team in each division goes home a winner, everybody else goes home with a loss in their last game of the year. And by the way, never is a long time and things change over time; that, grasshopper, is a fact.
  17. Seems like this is a big week for the boys in green. Win against a region opponent, build some confidence, and establish that they're still the team to beat in the region. Lose and it's a tough row to hoe - probably still make the playoffs but with a tough, tough matchup. I hope to make it to this game. By the way, where's the splainshornet this year?
  18. The Hornets seem to have lost something this year. Is it the level of competition or has the talent level fallen off? I'm told that this years senior class didn't really win with the same consistency as the classes right before and after them during their middle school, freshmen and jv years. Sounds like the coaches have a real challenge on their hands to get the green ready for conference play. One specific question - why is 15 quarterbacking instead of 11? Not trying to stir anything up, just curious as I was under the impression that 11 was the clear incumbent. The last few years would seem to indicate that Coach Woods had the program moving in the right direction. What has happened that the staff is encountering the problems mentioned by qbsdad? And by the way, qbsdad, no offense intended by my previous question if 15 is yours - just curious.
  19. Won't Carter be hurting as bad or worse in the secondary? Isn't that 3/4 of the secondary gone too? Just out of curiosity, who quarterbacks the Hornets the next week?
  20. Mr. Losers, A friend I work with told me there were some discipline issues out in Strawberry Plains. I thought the extent of it was that #2 missed the jamboree. A friend of my daughter's who attends Carter then told my daughter that #2 was leaving the team and going to another school in the same conference and that a parent was in the parking lot after school soliciting signatures to have the coach fired. How else would you have me present that? I'd never put my friend's, my daughter's. or the student's name on here and #2's been clearly identified in previous posts. I don't know the whys, wheres, or whos beyond what I posted and I won't speculate. I don't know what you've got in your craw on the name change thing but I've never changed my name. In fact, I had to register again because of some computer problems but I kept the same name. Either way, I don't have a lot of posts but I wasn't aware that fact had any relevance to what postings I do choose to make. As I said earlier, I'd like to get some input from Carter folk closer to the program. I have no absolutely no reason not to believe the youngster who told my daughter this but I also know that things have a way of changing rapidly when high schoolers and the parents of today are involved. If #2 does leave the team, it will certainly have a significant impact on Carter's ability to repeat and advance - the kid is a talent they simply won't be able to replace this year and he's good enough to change the dynamics if he plays elsehwere in the same conference. I've also been around long enought to know that parents and petitions ain't generally a good thing. I'm not looking for gossip - just extremely interested to find out if this situation is as dire as it sounds for the Carter program. How about you and I just shut up, listen, and watch.
  21. By the way, Mr. Losers, I failed to compliment you on the homecoming game comment. That was so funny I almost lol (that's what the kids say, you know). Did you think that up all by yourself?
  22. Mr. Losers, thank you so much for your warm welcome to the site. I gather CoachT has put you in charge of shaking down new members. I'm sure your CoachT collections job keeps you flush in cash but times are harder down on the farm. I will, however, see about getting some overtime so that I can scrape together $12. Do you offer an installment plan? If it would help, I could probably forward your commission directly to you right after the first of the month. Just let me know what I need to do. By the way, I too have been impressed with what Carter's coach has accomplished and attend several of their games each season (don't know if I'll make many this year what with the TSSAA price increase and trying to raise $12 to keep you happy); hence, my surprise at hearing of the possibility of issues that could have a pretty big impact on the season and the program. A man of your obvious intellect and refinement surely recognizes that the times they are a changing if some momma is in the parking lot after school soliciting kids to sign a petition to fire the coach. I thought this was the forum to see if there were some other perspectives out there. If not, I've been asked to leave better places by bigger jerks. Be sure to let me know if I can help you out on collecting that commission (assuming you offer a prorated refund if I decide that I don't want to play in your playground anymore).
  23. My daughter said a friend of hers who goes to Carter gave her some pretty shocking news about the football program. No way for me to verify but this is what she said: 1) #2 won't be on the team this year and will be playing for a different team in the AAC this season as of today; 2) some crazy parent was in the parking lot after school today circulating a petition to fire the coach. Any comment from Carter folks? I thought they were close to putting a program together but, if there's any truth to any of this, it will hurt.
  24. Not from Carter or Seymour 777, just know an asinine post when I see one (or 2 in your case) Carter fans I know say they are having more than their share of discipline issues which probably explains the missing kid last night.
