  1. I'm with you. It seems UTC has tried going with the big name three times in a row and they just don't last. Bringing in an alum may provide some much needed longevity and stability to the program. And I think Sioredas is a GREAT pick to do that.
  2. Just read this article from the Des Moines Register: http://tinyurl.com/cerx53 It looks like he wants the job pretty badly, and who could blame him?
  3. IS BONO THE FRONTRUNNER FOR THE ISU JOB? STATEMENT FROM IOWA STATE A.D. JAMIE POLLARD (Regarding Cael Sanderson??™s departure to Penn State) ???Cael (Sanderson) shared with me today that he has accepted the head coaching position at Penn State. I am extremely saddened for our institution??™s student-athletes, staff, alums and fans. It is a difficult day for all Cyclones as we cope with the departure of a truly outstanding and accomplished student and coach. Cael??™s unblemished collegiate record, Olympic glory and promising start as a coach all came while he was representing Iowa State University and he will forever be recognized as a Cyclone.??? ???During the last week, Cael and I talked numerous times and we had several in-depth and personal discussions about this decision. Those talks included me asking what, if anything, could we do to keep him at Iowa State. I also asked President (Gregory) Geoffroy, Bill Fennelly and Greg McDermott to reach out to Cael and they all did so. In the end, Cael said that he appreciated everything Iowa State and our fans had done for him but he believes winning a national championship will be easier at Penn State. He said the high school talent in Pennsylvania and surrounding states is the best in the country and the kids in that area grow up wanting to wrestle for the Nittany Lions. He also said their overall athletics department resources are the best in the country.??? ???I know this has been a very challenging and emotional decision for Cael and his family. I encourage all of our fans to put aside their disappointment and, instead, respect Cael for making a decision that he believes is in the best interest of his family. We are sad to see him leave, but we certainly wish him the best.??? ???We will begin a national search for his replacement immediately and focus our full attention on identifying and recruiting a new coach who can add to the Iowa State championship legacies of former coaches Hugo Otopalik, Dr. Harold Nichols and Jim Gibbons.???
  4. I thought it would be interesting to see if any of the top three have made college commitments. There seems to be a slew of seniors this year. 5. I got through to tech support and they offered me a free webcast in the future. I guess if we flooded everyone with calls and mail then perhaps something would be done about it. I really enjoyed the days when it the finals were broadcast on TV in Chattanooga/Cleveland.
  6. Should we send complaints to Ronnie Carter? Or Mark Reeves. Reeves apparantley is a former wrestling coach and is the assistant executive director. Perhaps he'd get something done? http://www.chattanoogan.com/articles/article_126276.asp
  7. Found seeding info on region 4 here: http://www.chattanoogan.com/articles/article_144433.asp
  8. Ummm - ok. Silverdale went into the tournament with five forfeits too. That's -30 as well.
  9. It looks like Ricky Johnson is doing a great job building on the foundation laid by Ben Reichel. Great Job Seahawks!!
  10. This is especially curious since last year Chattanooga area wrestlers took 1st place in 13/26 (50%) of the weight classes in the Tot-Midget State Tournament, and Chattanooga area wrestlers took 1st place in 13/32 (41%) of the weight classes in the Junior-MS State Tournament. See results here: http://www.seaausports.com/sport.php?c=wrestling So for your Top 100, I think you could start there with the 58 champions from last year.
  11. Walliser named Player of the Week Sunday, November 04, 2007 By Ward Gossett Assistant Sports Editor Philip Walliser has been a piece of the Silverdale Baptist football puzzle for four years but he made the jump this year to cornerstone. The 6-foot-2, 200-pound senior has come up with big performances previously in Silverdale's push this year for the playoffs but he had an extra special effort Friday. He came up with season highs on both sides of the ball and the Seahawks clinched their first Tennessee high school football playoff berth with a 32-12 win over Whitwell. Silverdale will be headed for Gordonsville Friday for its initial postseason opportunity. They might not have gotten there without Walliser, who picked up 227 yards and a touchdown on 17 carries on offense and 19 tackles on defense. "This is amazing. I can't even explain it," said Walliser, who has anchored Silverdale's defense all season. "We have worked so hard for these four years, but I always looked forward to my senior year. I always thought this would be the year we broke through." Walliser broke the 1,000-yard rushing mark for the season. "He has been that way all year. There have been a lot of coaches who have seen him and said he could have played at any state classification level," Silverdale coach John Allen said. Among the schools looking at Walliser right now are Tennessee Tech, Austin Peay, Carson-Newman, and Allen said he intends to send tape to Furman and Wofford. "I really think he's a player although he hasn't gotten much notoriety. He's a 4.0 student and he has already passed the test," Allen said. "It's like having a coach out there on the field. He's smart. He's a leader and his teammates respect him." Walliser has had 100-yard efforts previously, picking up 196 yards in a loss to Grace Academy and 114 in a win over David Brainerd. He also had a season-best 63-yard TD run against Sequatchie County. With the effort against Whitwell, Walliser boosted his per-game rushing average to 107.3 yards, giving him 1,073 for the season. His per-carry average jumped to 8.3 yards. The 19-tackle showing improved the linebacker's season average to 14.3 tackles per game, which could allow him to finish as the area's top tackler for the regular season.
  12. Silverdale is a private Christian school that has only been in existence for about 7 years. This is their 3rd year of TSSAA varsity football. They finished 7-3, but two of those losses were pretty close. A very mobile double-threat quarterback and downhill-running fullback who also plays middle linebacker and leads the Chattanooga area in tackles. Well coached and disciplined.
