  1. Does any one know what excatly TL said at the end of the game. I was on the field but only heard part of what he was saying? [/quoteSMACK i cant remember everything so if you wanna know go to wate.com and go the friday night hits and watch the highlights it will tell you everything he said, creasy still said and i quote him " yall are the best team we have played and you can tell south pitt that" /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" /> just sayin guys /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" /> I think this comment is a crock IF Creasy actually said it If a couple of plays for SP are different, Trousdale would be sitting at home and SP would have played at the Reservation last Friday. That game was not over until the last second ticked off the clock....the comment just makes very little sense. Anyway good luck TC! Good season Oneida.
  2. I think this game showed that the game last week (TC/SP) was for the state championship. I believe Oneida showed us all that they were better than most expected. I figured whoever won last week would get a good challenge from Oneida. I read the posts here, but someone who was there, give us more details of what happened (turnovers, big plays). I wish this game had been closer to home and I would have been there.
  3. We have had several good backs since Eddie Moore and Sam Pickett...ever heard of Robert Robinson or David Jones?? SP will continue to have studs in the backfield. If it is all about the trenches, why did Jasper get whipped so bad by the Pirates?? I would definitely say because SP whipped your line all over the field. Jasper folks are beating their chest and crowing but that will all end Friday night with a beatdown similar to what they endured the first game of the year. Good luck next year!!
  4. You are really not showing much class by posting bleeps on this thread. I am glad that you have not been on CoachT during the season or you would have given SP a bad name. If you graduated from SP, show some class man....and learn to spell and make sense in your posts. Johnathon Sellers will be a great back, but if he wants to win state he will not go to Jasper. They have had a good year, but I seriously doubt they will have another run like this next year. Cody Walker would have played at a major college if not for his mistakes....so I feel he deserves to be on this team. If you can not name the GREAT running backs behind him in 2003 then I know as well as you that there were not any better than him.
  5. Cody Walker was a great running back and was just a freshman in 2003. He was already ahead of Eddie when he was that age, so I don't see how you can say there were other great backs waiting in the wings. Who were they?? AJ Jones was ok, just not one of the best I have ever seen. What a big man you are by running your mouth about young men that make mistakes.....you have to be one of the Jasper fellars who is waiting for another Eric Westmoreland but those days are long gone for the Warriors. /smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />
  6. My top 10 is based on the ones I have seen play in person. I really can not compare/judge the ones I have not, so here it goes: 1.) Eddie Moore 2.) Robert Robinson 3.) Johnny Sisco 4.) Sam Pickett 5.) Corey Tipton 6.) Carl Lehr 7.) Rodney Cummings 8.) Patrick Pitts 9.) Kevin Mitchell 10.) Cody Walker I had to give my man Sisco some love??¦.football was a whole lot different when he played. He had to be tough to play running back all year without an injury. Cody deserves to be in the top 10, but he would have probably been #1 if he had played out his years for the Pirates.
  7. Kazam, maybe your boys will have more luck moving the ball on TC than we did. We were more effective out of our "Gun" set, but just could not keep them pesky Jackets out of the backfield. One thing is for sure, you will not get many opportunities on offense if Trousdale runs it like they did against us. They just took SP out of their game and made them like that old 3 yards and a cloud of dust offense. I guess we should have reverted back to that old single wing last week! /smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" /> #1 did drop a sure touchdown pass....that is just how last Friday's game went for the Pirates....nothing went our way on the offensive side of the ball. TC is a good football team and I really think Oneida will have to play mistake free to win this one.
  8. Thanks for the compliment Smash. You are right, wins come and go....you just can not be on top every year. It would have been nice to win back to back titles, but after the SP game with Boyd Buchanan (7-6), I knew we would have trouble with a big physical team in the playoffs. Too bad we could not come up to Oneida this week, it has been several years since I have been up that way. If your Indians have a good passing attack, they may have a good chance in this game. It would definitely help loosen up that TC defense. We had a little success passing, but most of the night our quarterback was running from #55. I promise, you will see alot of him this week. Like I said, TC is not as talented as teams in the past, but they don't make mistakes to beat themselves. They are very solid on both sides of the ball and will run it right at you. Good luck to both teams!
  9. Well, it has been a long week here in SP. With football season over and Tennessee having just one more game left, football season is about over for this Pirate/Vol. I will have to say this thread has been fun to read all week. Now to the game... TC has one of the best defenses I have seen in years. They shutdown a very good offense last week and thank goodness SP had a good defense this year or the game could have gotten ugly! I don't think this is the most talented team I have seen at TC, but I think their defense will shutdown Oneida's run game. Unless Oneida has a good passing game, I don't see this one being a game after halftime. I have heard that Oneida has a good defense as well, so they better step up and play well Friday night to have any chance of winning this game. By the way, I think the best Trousdale teams I have seen are the 93 and 98 teams. I have heard some say that the 97 team was good, but we never got the chance to see them.....we took a beating at the Reservation in the mud that year! /smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />
  10. I meant Montrell....I guess my vision has been a little off since I took off my rose colored glasses last night. /smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" /> I have been worried if the Pirates would be up for the task of beating a really good football team like TC. Anyone that watched that game last night could see that they were well coached and ready to play. I believe our boys are well coached and were ready to play last night, but we just made too many mistakes. Penalties and missed assignments were the downfall on offense last night, but I give a lot of credit there to TC's defense. Offensively I thought we had a good gameplan, but we just did not execute. You know, next year will be interesting with the underclassmen coming back. I think we will be good, but will have the normal growing pains of replacing several seniors who have contributed to this team for several years.
  11. I noticed that David did not play on defense at all in the 2nd half. I don't know if he was injured or not, but he was missed. Ramael made several good stops in his place. I know David was a step or two away from breaking a big run last night, but Trousdale just kept him and the other runningbacks hemmed in. Kartrez, David, and Malcolm will all be missed next year.
  12. When I found out (and pretty much knew all year) that SP would be playing TC, I was pretty certain that this would be a very hard game for SP to win. Neither team has won two in a row in this series. Also, the team with the revenge factor has always won the following year's game. Even though I hate losing, I would rather get beat by a quality program like TC than any other team. It is funny, if you think about things, if one of these teams was not in 1A the last 15 years, one program would have 3 more gold balls!! Anyway..... Last night's game was another classic between South Pittsburg and Trousdale. This was like watching two prize fighters dook it out for 12 rounds!! Of course my team lost, but they gave it their all. The Pirate defense played well with their backs to the wall, but were just worn down by that last drive in the 4th quarter. This was probably the best defensive game I have seen since the 1994 South Pittsburg/Jasper game. TC does not really have any stars, but have a great TEAM. Those boys played like a well oiled machine. I was very impressed with the sportsmanship by the Trousdale players after the game (except for 83). I saw several of the players helping some of our seniors up off the ground....that is just nothing but class. I know that we had several players and fans that did not show sportsmanship, but I saw it on the other side too. That type of behavior is on every team and a part of every fan base. Good luck next week, which I think you will not need. To the Pirate seniors, hold your head high. The last 4 years have been good. You got the Gold ball last year and just fell a little short this time. Each of you should be very proud of the accomplishments you have made over the last 2 years. The underclassmen just need to get in that weight room and get ready for next year. We have alot of talent coming back and will be in the mix for the state next year.
  13. I am so jacked up for this game, I have already Terry Tate form tackled 4 people here at work!!! I am going to have to leave so that I can calm down. For us old has been football players, we remember the feeling you get before a big game like this. I am like everyone else here in SP, I had a hard time sleeping because I was so excited about this game. Everybody have a safe trip up the Creekbank!! Mike, Tom, Sportsman, PirateP....look for me at the game. I will be the one running across the field screaming my head off!!! GO PIRATES!!!!!!!!!!
  14. Well, I better put my prediction out here for the game since I will only be working half a day tomorrow and will be tied up with the younguns tonight. There is no doubt this game will be a war between two undefeated teams. I feel like Trousdale has the advantage in being at home and in special teams with the great kicker they have. South Pittsburg will have the speed advantage along with having several players that have been this deep in the playoffs before. I think all these things will cancel each other out to equal to a hard fought win by the Pirates. My prediction: Pirates - 28 Jackets - 24 GO PIRATES!!!!!!!!!
  15. I am going to chime in and agree with ol Sailor here. I was thinking the same thing, in 2001 Vic coached a very over achieveing team to the semifinals. That is when I realized that he really was a good coach. When you are blessed with talent almost every year, it is hard to actually see how good a coach you have, but South Pittsburg is very blessed to have Vic Grider as head coach.
  16. The Jackets may be as good as we were last year, but hopefully they are not better. If so, we might as well just stay home. I know that the scrimmage game was just that??¦.a scrimmage, but when you look at that margin then I don??™t see how they can be better than the 2007 Pirates. I am sure that TC has improved drastically since the spring, so I really expect two evenly matched teams slugging it out for 4 quarters. The only thing I see breaking this game open for either team will be turnovers. If you remember the ??™98 game, turnovers in the first half helped Trousdale even up the game by halftime.
  17. Leading up to this week??™s game, I have been thinking about the 5 previous classic games between South Pittsburg and Trousdale. I thought I would put a short list of some of the big plays from each year. If anyone wants to add to them, you are more than welcome. 1993 ??“ The first meeting between these two teams was in the Semifinals, and what a game it was! Trousdale Co scored all 16 points in the first half behind a big game by Detric Woodmore. The Pirates fought back in the second half but came up short. Final score: TC -16 SP ??“ 14. 1994 ??“ This game was a rematch of the Semifinal round the previous year and the Pirates were looking for revenge. Trousdale Co scored first on a huge punt return, but the Pirates came right back and evened the score. This was one of the best games of the series with the Pirates claiming a 35-23 win. The play of the game was the reverse run my Bradley ???Macho??? Green. I think everyone on Trousdale??™s team hit him, but he just would not go down until he scored. 1998 ??“ The Pirates came into this game as the highest scoring high school team in the country and with a great running back in Eddie Moore. With a 21-0 lead the Pirates looked to be on their way to another appearance in the championship game. However, the Jackets capitalized on two South Pittsburg turnovers to almost even the score at halftime (21-20). After the half, Thomas Payne took over the game with that sweep play to the left that carried the Jackets to the victory. Final score: 42 ??“ 32. 1999 ??“ Once again the Pirates were able to play the team that ended their season the year before. These two teams came out and played I think one of the best games in this series. Behind a solid game by Sam Pickett and company, the Pirates prevailed with a 37-21 victory. 2007 ??“ The only first round game between these two teams was still a very good game. Trousdale County played very well, but was unable to contain Robert Robinson and RaShawn Weatherspoon. # 21 put the game away when he scored two back to back touchdowns on a sweep play to the right. Final score: 32-16
  18. David Jones is a very talented player, but it takes more than one stud to get this far in the playoffs. Did you see the td run that #1 Bibbs had in the second half? How about #21 Jones on the kickoff return? Those are just a few of the playmakers on this team. All I was stating is that without your quarterback, the game at SP would have been a blowout....but that is just my opinion and last statement on that game.
  19. We give teams credit when they earn it....and FCS has not earned it in my opinion. Your quarterback is good, but take him off of your team and you are just average. He made some nice plays, but I guarantee you that the DL would have sacked him several times if not for the wet conditions. Anyway, the FCS game is in the past and your boys are practicing basketball....
  20. Hey Mike, I agree. Our defensive line was in the backfield most of the game (unless they were being held). If the field had been dry, Fennell would have had several sacks last Friday night. He was in position several times and just slipped and fell down. Our tackling has been suspect the last couple of weeks. I think there were 4 or 5 missed tackles on Friendship's first touchdown. If this is not corrected this week, it could be a long night for the Pirate defense.
  21. Slim, I know the true TC fans have respect for us just like true SP fans have respect for the jackets. All of the games played in this series have had big plays and I know this one will not be any different. All i can say is they are just jealous. I guess since their teams don't have much success beating SP/TC they just have to badmouth the team outside of the region.
  22. I guess Vic should just forfeit this game since everyone has already crowned the jackets. There is more to the Pirates than speedy backs. You will see Friday night.
  23. Just keep doubting Croz. I think you will be singing a different tune Saturday morning. To bad Gordonsville could not make the playoffs....The mighty Pirates could have added them to the mercy rule list.
  24. It is funny how you Friendship and Gordonsville fans think SP just stinks this year. The Pirates don't need anything to fire them up for this game, but dumb comments like this will help even more. They have not been #1 in 1A and the Chattanooga area for nothing this year. Keep on doubting these boys.....they will show you how good they are Friday night. Go Pirates!!!!!!!!
  25. I think all you non Trousdale fans are in for a rude awakening. These two teams are both good, but are completely different. TC is big....SP has lots of speed. Trust me, we have seen two good teams this year that have battle tested the Pirates that were alot better than Friendship. Just keep giving the Pirates more bulletin board material. The last group that jawed at the Pirates took a beating in the first game of the year.
