  1. If you'll read before responding you will clearly see that I was mentioning number #70 and #74 from Greenville's offensive line. And if you'll read a little further back in the thread I said all of the O-line for the Falcons should be considered. And dont think that I don't know who missed that block on 4th & 2!, my son reminds me of it every nite since he was the one who missed the assignment. And dont say he didn't block he blocked but he just blocked the wrong one. Its still bothering him today but he'll learn from it and be better for it. But there were sure alot of other opportunities out there that could have changed that game besides that one block, dropped passes, overthrown passes, missed blocking assignments by the entire O-line, punting from our own 34 yard line, etc.... And I would sure like to think that 1 missed block by any one player during the duration of an entire football game changes the total outcome.
  2. When will the all conference selections be made and where can it be found? Any information would be appreciated.
  3. Do me a favor and tell Ed Smith hello for me! He'll know who it is. Thanks and good luck at Emory and Henry.
  4. Panther I've been reading your posts on here for the last 4 weeks and I just couldn't stand idly by and read another without sayin something. Would you please quit typing and give all of us slow, weak, untalented, country bumpkins up here in the NET a break from your posts or should I say magazine columns!
  5. This is not the place to be talkng about this, but you saying that you showed Volunteer respect for their win is nothing short of ludicrous! You can keep bringing up the past about the "OLD" falcons all you want Cap all I'm going to tell you is that you better get ready to be playing them alot more often in the playoffs, there is a whole new team from top to bottom at this school and its obviously on its way up. I'll leave the clear advantage statement alone.
  6. Well I thought my screen name here would say plenty enough to explain why I would favor Volunteer. And in a short explanation of the 3 years, I believe that Coach Rider has assembled an excellent coaching staff with some of those final pieces just coming aboard this year. He has been able to (in my mind) transform the entire culture of not only the players and the school but the entire community as well. I told my wife when he first came here that his biggest challenge wouldn't be the players but winning over this community and getting them excited about football again. I've seen attendance go from 100 fans a game to almost packed stands and we repeatedly brought more fans than our opponenets home fans brought this year. He is instilling a tradition of winning at Volunteer that hopefully will just continue to grow and infect everyone around Hawkins county. Hopefully we'll need to build a visitors side soon to pack all the fans in. I hope this unflutters you.
  7. Congratulations to South for an outstanding year so far and us folks over here in Church Hill are rooting for you all the way. Play your game and dont get caught up in all their hype! They put on their football uniforms the same way you boys do there's nothin special about any of them. Good Luck Friday night and I hope for an injury free game for all these fine young men playing in this GAME.
  8. I thought I heard you on this thread earlier talking about people starting crap and running their mouths and so on and so on! Let it go, he said congrats and thats all he should have to do. You shouldn't be on here runnning your mouth about anyone elses team anyway!
  9. I surely don't have a dog on this fight, but for you CAP 1 of all people to come on here talking about a preferred FIVE RIVERS score! Its amazing how quickly pain will make you forget your own FIVER RIVERS DEFEAT. Ummm shhh... hush.... it was 21 to 14 Volunteer didn't want everyone to hear!
  10. I kind of thought the same thing, but even if he did throw the ball backwards he threw it to avoid a tackle/sack so in my mind it was intentional grounding. Like you said it doesn't matter now but I was confused and would like to know for future reference.
  11. Explain how that was not intentional grounding? Or do you believe it should have been called a safety? The ball was hiked to him so therefore he was the quarterback and when he threw it away it was intentional grounding same as a quarterback doing it. If he would have ran out of the back of the endzone then it would have been a safety right? Just asking b/c I was confused on that play as well and thought it was a safety but the more I thought about it I think they made the right call.
  12. Is there any voting about coach of the year in five rivers conference? If there is I'm casting my vote for Coach Rider now. A little bias on my part but what a job he's done here in 3 short years. The other coach I would have to consider and so does everyone else is GHS's coach, what an outstanding first year.
  13. I wish we could just elect all the players from the VHS squad! What an outstanding group of young men on and off the field, but I know thats not possible so: OFFENSE: #7, #32, #12, #3 The entire O-Line should be considered but this one is a tough call so I'll let it stand at that. DEFENSE: #64, #19, #45, #22 I can't remember numbers and names of other players in the conf. we played but there are 3 guys that stand out to me from last weeks game. #7 (probably the best running back in our conference) #70 & #74 on the O-Line (dominating blockers)
  14. I'm sure the coaches at South are challenging their O-line to dominate their small D-line but that is easier said than done. We played 2 games against them this year and I expected our big, experienced O-line to do exactly what your saying but they are well coached, disciplined and flat get after the football with SPEED. Our boys handled them for the first quarter and then it came apart at the seams for us. They also have a BIG O-line that can block well for both pass and run and you better be able to stop Barner (#7), he's a small back that hides behind that big O-line and when they finally see him he's full speed and runs and cuts with the best of them I've seen this year. From what I understand THS ran all over South so you better shore up that run "D" becuase in my opinion GHS has a better running game than THS had. I don't have a dog in this hunt but thought I would put my 2 cents in anyway.
  15. Congrats to greenville, they did a great job. But we played our best for one quarter and then it came apart at the seams. GHS took advantage of the situation as they should have and took care of business. GHS didn't let the 2 first quarter INT's get them down like they could have so I was impressed by that as well. A really good running back and your O-line got it going in the second quarter. Another great game by 2 good teams who just seem to match up well with each other and give the fans a good time. Continue to the represent the IMAC and beat South!
  16. I don't have a clue! I believe they were filming a episode of the TWIGHLIGHT ZONE there or something. Seriously though I dont believe I have ever been to a ballgame where our team (or any team for that matter) got into the redzone that many times in the first half and was able to shoot ourselves in the foot everytime! It was just one of those games where you sit back and go what the HECK just happened? On another note though these boys could have let that get them down to a point where they couldn't recover but I think it woke them up. This team has shown resiliency all year and I believe that is one of the traits that has been broken from teams past here. This ball club is headed in the right direction and a new attitude has been established for all the teams ahead to follow and continue to take it further.
  17. Volunteer Falcons, hold your heads up high and be proud of the accomplishments you guys have made this year! This schools football program is headed in the right direction under coach Rider and his staff and there are many more accomplishments in the future. Be proud and know that you guys are part of something special thats happening at Volunteer and also that you guys will always be remembered as the team that accomplished a piece of this football programs history and one that they are looking to build on. Congratulations on a spectacular season and we thank you guys for all the hard work and dedication you put into this year! We will miss each and everyone of you guys after this year and want to wish all the graduating seniors the best of luck in pursuing the rest of your lives before you. "FALCON FANS LET'EM HEAR IT HERE!!! "LETS ROLL FALCONS"
  18. Congratulations to Greenville on the win tonight! And good luck with South next week as you guys continue on to the next round and represent the five rivers conference. It was a well played and hard fought game but we just came up short. For the Falcons, hold your heads up high and be proud of the accomplishments you guys have made this year! This schools football program is headed in the right direction under coach Rider and his staff and there are more accomplishments in the future. Be proud and know that you guys were part of something special thats happening at Volunteer and also that you guys will always be remembered as the team that did it there first. Congratulations on a spectacular season and we thank you guys for all your hard work and dedication into this year! "LETS CONTINUE TO ROLL FALCONS"
  19. I wouldn't call that luck on our part! I would say that shows how weak your team was from a depth standpoint, when you say 1 player made the entire difference in that game thats absolutely ludicrous! The falcons dominated every facet of that game and you guys got lucky when we fumbled and you were able to score in the second half. You only crossed the 50 yard line three times and one was the fumble recovery so explain how thats being lucky on our part. I say it was THS looking ahead to next week. Your #1 player might have helped but he sure wouldn't have won that game for you!!! "LETS ROLL FALCONS"
  20. They obviously hit hard enough to knock you and your team into the basketball gym!!! Are you writing this post from there know? Cause I know your not near a football field!!! "LETS ROLL FALCONS"
  21. Well game day is upon the 2 teams and I hope both are prepared and ready to go for tonight. It should be a very good game to watch and hopefully as exciting as the last one was! The most important thing is that all the kids come out of this game injury free and ready to go on to their next endeavor. Falcons you need to play hard, play tough, play focused & play smart just like you have been and your chances for a win tonight are exceptional! Go get this one boys you know what you have you have to do! Execute, Execute, Execute!! No one deserves this more than you boys do, so get after them and make it happen. GOOD LUCK TO BOTH TEAMS. "LETS ROLL FALCONS"
  22. Barb, I was just trying to have a little fun and stir Snow up a little bit and obviously it did a little but not to much. His point was not very well stated and could have been taken in a couple of different tones or attitudes. If he had spoken to coaches and all that maybe he should have shared that. I in no way whatsoever mean to do anything other than have a little fun and talk some H.S. football and not offend anyone. I like to talk trash just as much as some of the others on here. At the same time realizing that not anything said in here has any bearing on the outcome of the game whatsoever! Like I said may the best team win and congrats to both teams for a great season!
  23. Oh I didn't know that thanks. Sounds like he's sore about something? And to ease the pain he jumps on GHS's bandwagon against his rival team (THE FALCONS) who has sent Cherokee home the last 2 years! Sorry to hear that snowy but you surley don't bring much credibiltiy into this discussion. I just figured out why he's sore: "SNOWY GOT SCALPED"
