  1. I wasn't jumping on DII7 at all, just asking when he had seen Carver pitch. I have seen Blake pitch against top competition when we were playing in invitationals at Auburn and in Atlanta so I was just wondering. At least he admits that he knows Ryan and that his comments were based on personal preference. As far as DII not saying anything wrong I don't know, I don't really appreciate him implying that I like Carver in a homosexual way or that he's my boyfriend, but then again I guess you have to think about who's saying that. Anyways, best of luck to Moore and Carver throughout the year, I hope they both do great. I'd love to see them both go in the 1st round(I know this won't happen before you start jumping on me). I'm not hating on Moore, just defending Carver and stating my opinion, that Blake is a better pitcher than Ryan. I also believe that Ryan is a better prospect, with tremendous upside. I'd love to see Ryan forget about football and focus solely on baseball, if he did that the only stopping him from wherever he wanted to go would be himself.
  2. DII7-When have you seen Carver pitch? If you think he can't handle top competition you are terribly mistaken. Last fall(fall of '02) I played on the Chattanooga Cyclones with Blake and most of the other top prospects in the area(Wes Hodges, Brendan Murphy, Clark Jackson, Matt Ray, Kane Simmons, Zane Stone, Cody Gosset, Brandon Langston, etc.) and we traveled to play the best teams in the south. Blake DOMINATED that fall season. I will post the exact stats if you want, but I don't think he gave up an earned run all fall. And as far as Moore being a better pitcher than Carver, no way, at least that's what some of his teammates have told me. A better prospect, no doubt, anytime you're as big as Moore is, and are a lefty throwing 90 or better you're going to be a top prospect. Being a better prospect doesn't equal being a better pitcher.
  3. I know this is a high school sports website, but I just wanted to congratulate Vanderbilt on their trip to the sweet 16. And a special congratulations to Mario Moore who played at Antioch, Jason Holwerda from Chatt. Christian, and Julian Terrell from Ezell-Harding as they have all had pretty big roles for the Commodores this season. Again, congrats to Vandy, the players, and schools represented by these players, and let's pull off another upset.
  4. I know I'll be leaving off some, but here are some top players to look for: Wilkes, Carver(probably best PITCHER in Chatt. area), Ben Wilson and Ryan Headden from Boyd, Phil Brown from CCS, Zane Stone and Scott Raines, Barber, Austin Jayne, Moore HAS to be on this list if for no other reason than his upside. Of course, this is a TN sports website, but if we were including the N. GA schools then the list would definately change. Look for Nate Long from CCS to have a breakout year.
  5. Thanks Boyd and Supersteve for your compliments on Cook. I know it's probably hard for you to give compliments to a CCS player sometimes . I just wanted to add that, as Supersteve said, Cook is definately a class act. He's as good of a person as he is a ballplayer. I know there are a lot of great players around the state, but Cook has to be considered right there with the best of them.
  6. It's funny how positive everyone is about their stories. Del is positive that his source was correct, but it's hard to discount the statements that were given by people who were actually there then by those getting it second hand from Grundy County people. Personally, I don't appreciate people getting on here and throwing out racial accusations without being 100% positive that they're right(which obviously isn't the case). Especially when you play that "blacks can get away with murder while we can't do anything" BS. Whether or not you wanted it to, that's how it came off to me. Think a little more about how or what you say before you say it, especially in a public format.
  7. Actually, if Cook won, it would give Chattanooga it's 4th straight Mr. Basketball in class A. Holwerda won it twice, then Skogen, and now, hopefully Cook. All the players mentioned are deserving, but my vote's for Cook. He's stepped it up big time to make CCS contenders again.
  8. Oh yeah, they're 4-0 against top 50 rpi teams, which is half the number of victories you said they had. I don't know where you're getting your info.
  9. Haha, yeah, I took a little sabbatical. I don't know when you heard that but SOS varies a lot just based on how your opponents do and how their opponents do and so on, but I know that as of last night ESPN didn't have them in their top 15 SOS so I don't know when you heard that.
  10. I don't know if you meant to help me prove my point, but you did, so thanks. I agree that St. Joes probably wouldn't be undefeated in the ACC, or even the Big 12, SEC, or Pac-10, but just because they aren't playing those teams night in and night out doesn't discredit the fact that they are undefeated, which is why they are 2nd in the nation. And scarface, I was speaking in relative terms when I said they haven't played the toughest schedule, I didn't mean that they haven't played any good teams. 8 teams in the top 50 rpi isn't THAT tough of a schedule, especially compared to the teams playing in the ACC, SEC and other large conferences who play more teams in the top 50 rpi in-conference alone, not even counting whoever else they may be playing. Besides all that, I'm not on here to down any teams, I was just giving some support. If I felt that a team should have been placed higher in this poll I would've said so and left it at that, not bad-mouthed another team in the process.
  11. CCS fans-you're going to have to learn that in a city-wide poll people are never going to give you the respect you deserve. Even back when Holwerda and Trimiew were seniors(two of the best players in the state that year) and they were handling their business on their way to winning the state championship people still didn't want to give them credit just because CCS is single A. CCS was beating Howard, Soddy, Dalton, Red Bank, Atlanta teams, Alabama teams, etc. and people still said they weren't proven. The only way you're going to get the respect is to win the championship(even then you may not). This always happens, all the AAA schools think they would kill you because you're A. St. Joseph's is ranked #2 in the nation right now(behind also undefeated Stanford), if the people who made up the real polls thought with the same frame of mind as some of you on here I'm sure you'd have some pretty ridiculous teams ahead of St. Joes just because St. Joes hasn't played "the toughest" schedule. Get real
  12. Luckyday-No, 70% isn't anything to brag about, but it's definately acceptable. The most dominant player in the NBA is a terrible free throw shooter. He's a big man too. I agree that 70% is a percentage that most players should reach, but if a big man in high school doesn't shoot 70% it's not neccesarily something to be ashamed of either. Oh yeah, guess Little came up big tonight. Congrats Cleveland

  14. A big man MUST shoot 70% from the line in high school? 70% isn't a bad percentage for many guards in high school, let alone big men. One thing Charles Little is....a better ballplayer than you.
