Ky is fine I have a great group of guys to work with, still miss RBS though but I know they are in good hands now. We don't play classes here so it is tough. We move into a district next year with 2 4A football schools so it will be hard to compete. our LL and summer programs are awful up here. Lots of politics in LL not in high school though best players play no matter what. What are you going to get your degree in?

Hey Guys, Haven't been on here in a long time. Somebody figured out my password and said somethings about Macon County that wasn't very nice. Hate to hear you are not pitching anymore 5 you were one heck of a pitcher when you played. I would say that too many 150 pitch games hurt the old hose and that is a shame. Peters how are things on the mountain. Muffin are you going to be there Friday when we come down to play the Dawgs? Take it easy on us. We are struggling quite a bit right now 2-4 just got back from a Tourney in Louisville got beat by 2 teams ranked in the state. Swanson see you on Friday. Good luck to all in 7A. By the way to add my 2 cents which isn't much. Listen to Loop on the topic of players getting signed he knows his stuff. Russell is a good kid and player at least he was in Little League, but not Tech material for sure. We had several at RBS when I was there that had more talent and better numbers and Tech only wanted them to come to their Fall League. They didn't want them to play there. The difference between playing at RBS or HS and Tech is like a 2-year old playing on a high school team. Big difference.
  3. Will Please e-mail me at melrod@monroe.k12.ky.us This is Coach Elrod Notice the other threads have been deleted. That was not right.

    Well said Coach Swoner!!!!!!

Coach Looper is an outstanding coach and even a better person. I always enjoyed coaching against him and the fine teams he had in Monterey. I appreciate the compliments from jimbob and gooday but I haven't coached at RBS in 2 years, however I know this group of young men and you won't find a better group anywhere. Losing Heady is a big loss for the Bulldogs, both as a player and a leader. But knowing the fight in the rest of guys I am sure they will battle and make a run for the district title. I think that Coach Swoner will do a great job with them. Good luck to all the teams in District 7A but I will be rooting for the red and grey(but not when they are playing the Falcons) hahahahaha
  6. Ballman Should be no problem letting people know who they are. That way maybe they won't talk so much smack on here. Leave that up to the individuals. I have no problem letting people know who I am. If they don't already.
  7. No offense was intended toward HS. And I agree they should be left out of it.
  8. Bobcatfan, I can see that you are not going to see that your boys had anything to do with the trouble. The Bobcats were perfect little angels and those mean old Falcons just picked on the frail Bobcats. I watched the game an unbiased person. If Monroe did somethings wrong which one player did I would own up to it. But for the most part the Falcons tried to avoid confrontations and Pickett instigated them. I do like your idea of using 1 and 1 on the refs but you could also do like they do in college football use Ky refs at Pickett and TN refs at Monroe. But you know as well as I do that the TN refs depending on who you get are sometimes as bad or worse than the refs from that game. You are grasping at straws when you mention HS because the games weren't even close.
  9. Bobcatfan, you must have watched a different game than I did. Pickett was the one starting everything. The Monroe Co boys for the most part held their selves pretty well. I know that on 2 occasions Rusty Hawkins was on the floor and piled onto, he simply got up and the boys from Pickett were mouthing and pointing at him. Pickett was the one that started the fight. If they would have wait about 1 minute and met at half court the problems wouldn't have started. Pickett headed for Monroe's dressing room and started mouthing. They almost made a very serious mistake. Coach Bibb did a great job of getting the kids out of there and Coach Carter did an excellent job getting his team out of there as well. I have always had much respect for the Bobcats but lost a little that night. Wright is a pure hotshot. If he would spend more time playing ball and a little less time dancing on the floor he would be alright. I know this is a TN board and the officiating was terrible BOTH WAYS so lets not try to make out Monroe as the monster here. Pickett had alot to do with the rough play. And as for a couple of years ago. A Monroe player went to save and ball and dove into Picketts bench and was punched and kicked. That is what started that problem. I do agree that the series should end as does everyone in Monroe County. Pickett is a great team and will go far but they are not the Opie Taylor you are making them out to be.
  10. Coach Smith gave it up to spend more time with his family. He was an excellent coach that made a decision to put his family first. good job.
  11. Ballman, You don't need to get on here and brag up RBS. They are bragging enough for themselves on the court and that is where it needs to be done. You obviously don't know about Coach Bibb. He has great credentials and is a very good coach. Coach O is doing a fantastic job at RBS and I am sure he doesn't want any players or managers on here adding fuel to the fire of their opponents.( The comparsion you made between the two isn't fair to either one of them.) The games they have are tough enough already and all the other teams in the district don't need a wall reminder from something said to help motivate them even more. RBS will have another great year this year and I hope they go as far as they can. I hope they win it all, but it is way to early to predict that. Talk good about your team and just enjoy the season. Good Luck Dawgs
  12. Macon Wins 17-15 on a 38 yard field goal by Kitrell Smith as time expires!
  13. Coach15 give Coach Cook at Monroe Co. a call. He might be able to work you in. Kentucky went to fall middle school softball and he couldn't field a team because of other sports and activities. He is having his 7th and 8th graders play on varsity or JV. If you need any other information you know how to get in contact with me. Coach Elrod. PS I got the high school job this year.
  14. All I know is he is a great coach and teams that are in need of a head coach at the end of the season need to look no farther than AE. Pick a great apple off of a great tree.
  15. Who, where and what time is Trousdale County scrimmaging this week.
  16. Muffin you know as well as I do nobody except the baseball players and parents care about baseball at RBS. From my understanding they have an application but there is not a teaching job available. If it were football or basketball they would make one but it is only baseball. It is ashame because over the past 4 years that has been the most sucessful boys team at that school and you can't get anybody in the school to come watch them play. And to stop all replies I will say that the boys basketball team had a great year this year. The best possiblity for you all is going to be let the Swoners do it. They care about the program and they care about the kids and baseball. You all need to get behind them and help them out. I already told them I would get them started in the right direction with the paperwork. You know I still care about that bunch of kids tremendously. They should win the district next year if they play. Good luck and you know how to get in touch with me.
  17. Are they playing tonight in Monterey? Would love to see some District 7A games. :
  18. Do not question the heart of this team. They have plenty of it. From what I have been told they have played 10 games in 11 days. 5 of them district games. This was done in order to compensate for senior trip. The Bulldogs only have one senior so it did make a whole lot of sense to me. I know these kids as well as anyone and I have never have or never will question their hearts. They always come to play and want to be the best that they can be.
  19. My prayers go out to Alex's family. He was an outstanding young man and an outstanding player.
  20. Tnballman, How can you go on here and trash Coach Smith. How many times has RBS beaten Pickett in their lifetime. NOT MANY! Why take away from the great season that RBS had by making a comment like that. I know for a fact that alot of the player still respect Coach Smith greatly. And that is not taking anything away from Coach Owens. I thought you had more class than that. Don't let you mouth write checks your behind might not be able to cash. Next year is a new season and anything can happen. [Edited by Bulldog23 on 4-6-03 10:40P] [Edited by Bulldog23 on 4-6-03 10:41P]
  21. I don't know what you are thinking getting on here and representing RBS as a bunch of hillbillies. Even though I don't coach there anymore I still feel somewhat of a bond to this team. I wish you guys would find out who is rbsdawgs and take his computer away from him. We always played with class and acted like class if we were good or bad. My sign name is no secret everybody knows who I am so I am asking you guys to stop the nonsense and play baseball. Also if Celina is you BIG game for the year you are on the wrong track. It is one of your BIG games. Clarkrange, Monterey, Pickett, Hermitage and Celina are BIG games not to mention the teams like Trousdale, Macon, Portland, Westmoreland, Smith Co. etc. This is last time I will say anything about this. Good luck to RBS and all of District 7A. Coach Elrod
  22. Heady and Hudson (RBS), Green and Bowman (Clarkrange), Sparks and Morgan (Monterey), McClerran and Walker (Celina), Mason (Pickett Co.), Duffer (Hermitage Springs). These are the ones that I know. Could be others that will step up this year. Good Luck to everyone in District 7A.
  23. Hancock is the better of the two. Green is outstanding as well. But Green pitches and Hancock plays everyday short which helps. Both are excellent players.

Matt played for the Sox this summer and did play in the series. Dash, I won't get to coach against you this season because I am not at RBS. Don't worry about the MPH just worry about winning games like you have in the past couple of years. MPH doesn't mean that much right now. You are too good of a pitcher to worry about that right now.
