  1. Sorry about that??¦I don??™t get the Times News. I didn??™t think they covered DB basketball anyway /laugh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="laugh.gif" /> . I understand what you are saying. But it has to be blamed on human nature not the Times News. The flashy guys and girls always get the press. Example??¦Name another Cleveland Cavalier besides Lebron James. But we all know it takes way more than the NBA All Star MVP to win a NBA game. Even with Williams??™s smooth transition into his starting position you had to know he was a crowd pleaser. You have at least five players on the DB team that would get the press on almost any other team they played on in the BIG 9. I think that is a good problem to have. Morgan has a job on his hands to just divide the airtime as equally as he can. It would be nice if parents (and fans) would just be satisfied with winning games. But as a parent myself??¦I know better.

    How about Ben Wallace cap. /laugh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="laugh.gif" />

  2. I just saw where burns was stepping down as tournament director of the Arby's. Anyone know why? or who is going to be in charge of it from now on? Because if its the THS athletic director thats going to be in charge now then its all pretty much going to go down hill in my opinion.

  3. You could not have called it any better. The first half of this game was the worst officiated game I have ever seen in high school basketball. No exaggeration, and the second half was the 2nd worst half I have seen. If this game was called anywhere near fair we win by 15 or more. TN High shot 22 foul shots to our 5. But that doesn't even begin to show the real story. Anytime we started to get any kind of lead by about 10 or more the refs would call either a lane violation on a free throw, moving screen, a phantom walk, 3 seconds or a foul not even near the ball to allow TN High to get back in the game. Then once we hit a 2 minute stretch where we struggled to score TN High hits a couple of shots and it was over for us. whereas if we had gotten a fair shake we would have weathered that because we would have been up 20 points. Once TN High got the lead all they had to do was throw it near the paint and the refs were going to call a foul on us.

The refs let TN High's post players just kill people inside on their zone and there is nothing you can do about but hope that somehow you can knock the people of your arms long enough (and without getting a crazy offensive foul called on you) to somehow muster the ball up to the goal. Funny thing was that TN High actually went to a man-to-man for about 3 possessions and we get 3 easy buckets because they didn't have any of their goons inside near the bucket to hammer us when we took it up. They quickly got away from that and went back to their usual going over the back and beating people under the goal. People want to go off on Volunteer for their physical play but really TN High in my opinion is worse than they are. Volunteer may be physical but they at leadt get called for those fouls, where as TN High does not.

But it has been like this for the last 10 years or so because of the Arby's. As long as TN High gets to appoint refs to this tournament then they are always going to get the benefit of the doubt, but tonight it was just put to the extreme. In my opinion TN High has not had a good team since Kevin Springs, John Sproles and Davey Wilson played. These TN High teams should be thankful everyday for the Arby's or they would be a consistent cellar dweller.

One of the refs we had tonight used to call in District 2 but for some reason is calling Big 9 games now. I mean what is the deal? Did we not have enough terrible refs that we had to go and get some from another District? Was this guy like last the final piece to the all-time worst officiating crew ever and we finally got all 3 of them teamed up together tonight?

The losing team is always the team that cries about the refs. Thats all we have been hearing lately is about the refs. Now your saying Tennessee High hasnt had a good team since Spings, Sproles, and Wilson? Are you crazy? The team last year was good. They also had a team go to state a few years ago. So how can you say they havent had a good team since those guys played? For the record it shouldnt matter how bad the refs are if a team is up by 20, If the refs are as bad as you say, then why wouldnt the courgars just hold the ball. Apparently they werent as bad as your saying, otherwise your cougars would never have had a 20 point lead in the first place

  4. I'm sorry but this is one I couldn't refuse..... Of all people to get on here and call someone the "Oh Great and Merciful anything" means CAP1 has to be the biggest hypocrite that I have come across on here. Sometimes I think you have a throne and crown all dudded up with rhinestones that you sit in while your in front of your computer and tell all of us why we are idiots and you are the GOD of HS sports in the tri-cities area. Have you ever wondered why so many people get on here and seem to have a problem with the same person...YOU! Its because your pompous attitude on here leaves everyone with a a bad taste in their mouth. Your obviously someone who has way to much time on their hands and uses it to get on here and tell everyone else why you (and THS) are superior to everyone. One other thing, for someone to get on here and say that they go to church and maybe even hold a position in that church and then tell someone he needs to "grow a sack" on here, I don't call that being a "jokester" I call that being a hypocrtical idiot who needs to grow up. As far as knowing who you are I could care less... thats just one less idiot that I have profess to knowing!

So are you saying if you say that someone needs to grow a sack, then they apparently dont go to church lol? if thats what your saying, that is stupid, do yourself a favor and dont respond to anyone's comments on this board. I personally think that is pretty funny myself and im sure a lot more people thought so as well.

  5. I think you will be hard pressed to find any coach in the Big 9 that believe they get more calls than TH when they play them. I remember only one ref last year that called both Central and TH's games, the "ARBY's proposer". You know who I am talking about. When he is on the floor he takes "CONTROL" of the game. As long as the Arby's is at Tenn. High, all the other school's will be at a disadvantage. Because the officials don't want to get banned from calling in the biggest tournament in this area. I think you may be making excuses before the game is even played. /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" />

didnt that official propose to one of the coaches sisters from SH? or is that a different official?

  6. I agree totally. The Administrators at Tennessee High are really starting to get on my nerves the way he pester the kids throughout the games about petty things. They want the students to come out and support their team but they don??™t allow them to interact with the game. During the THS vs SHHS game they decided not to play the music at halftime, so the student sections created their own halftime entertainment that started with cheering on a little fan on the court and ended with a dual between the two Cheerleading squads taking turns trying to top each other doing flips. It was very entertaining to me and seemed like good ???clean school spirited??? fun until the Vikings Administrator stepped in to ruin the fun. I guess he thought the Cheerleaders would get mad and put down there pompoms and break out the brass knuckles. /laugh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="laugh.gif" /> Every time I looked up he was pulling one of the students out of the student section to talk to them. I wish he would just give them a break for a change.

I agree cap. That was probably the funniest thing to happen at halftime in a while. I just cant believe they school administrators or administrator, because it just looked like one guy was making everyone stop, wouldnt let the students and fans get into the game. Just seemed like good clean entertainment to me. Seemed like it was a different guy doing all the pesteroing last year wasnt it?

  7. Not one single player you mentioned is on the current team. If you have been to any games this year you would know that the system has changed just a little. Morgan has never substituted like he has this year. Since you are so smart tell all of us who the leading scorer is for DB and how many points they average per game. That will tell you that no single player on this years team is getting anywhere near the playing time or shot attempts as Morgans past teams. I think also that this may turn out to be the best team that Morgan has had while at DB. I know that so far this has been true. I can prove you wrong on another point about Flack. He got more playing time in the last game (Tennessee High) than he has had all season. And what was the result? You already answered that, "one of the better games of his career". So looks like he is producing more instead of less as the season advances. Flack is a good player and should play college somewhere. I don't think anybody in the big9 will end up at any major college. Why do you hate Flack so much? From everything I have heard he is very well liked at DB by everybody.

Heres an idea, why argue about stats, instead just do a little research and compare the playing time between the players he mentioned to the ones on the team this year? then either yours or his point will be proven

  8. Whats the deal Skunk. Are the Indians really that good this year or are the Cougars just that bad? Four points in the entire second half has to be some kind of record??¦for both teams.

    I guess we wont have to listen to all that Central crap on the boards this year??¦will we Hightop and Brock20, (aka - bballfan14). /wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink.gif" /> /biggrin.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="biggrin.gif" />

Oh no you got me cap lol. Guess again

  9. I didn't get to go to that game but from all reports it was an exact replay of the first game last year between THS and East. All I'm going to say is...HOW are you going to let the SAME player put 30+ on you TWO years straight?! I've heard many on here talk about how "well coached" the Vikings are but has the Coach been well coached? If a player that has the reputation of being a "shooter"hits three or four STRAIGHT three pointers in a row (a couple from NBA range) would you:

A.Call timeout and put your top or maybe even (in the case of East) top two defenders on him and tell your team that from hear on out, Snapp is not allowed to touch the ball!

B.Continue to stay in zone defense and pray that he stops making the three ball (which is what I understand to be the case with coach Whitcher).

Does the term 'shot them out of the zone" ring a bell?

25 points in the first half, most from behind the arch...come on...Snapp is good no doubt, but not that good!!! I can't think of any one player in the Big 9 conference that should be putting up those kinds of numbers. It would also help if you know who your best defender on your team is. Here is a hint...Mason Canty. /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" /> I'm sorry but I had to get that off my chest because we are going to run into several others this year that are going to give us trouble (Cradic being one) unless we are willing to make the necessary adjustments and compensate for a virtual one man show. There is no shame in making a team beat your with their other players, and you're not saving face by having one player score 38 points on your team. That can't be blamed on the players. Some (not me) but some may believe that the players didn't follow the directive that the coach gave one time, but when it happens two years in a row you have to start wondering about the directive.

Well I guess we all know who your the #1 fan of. So your saying you want Canty out past the 3 point line guarding Snapp? Isnt canty a post player? He would get handled if he tried that. If anything Play a box and 1 with Young on Snapp because that is more than likely your best defender.
