The Field Turf at MT is a great surface to play on. IMO it shouldn't have that much effect on the outcome. The Pats do have some advantage with having turf in the indoor facility. The Bulldogs didn't seem to be bothered by the last two years.

2P good call on Mr. Leo Martin, had him as a teacher at the old SHS. Great man and a great line coach!! He had a very rough time starting up the LaVernge program. He also played in TWO Orange Bowl games at Oklahoma. Kinda strange that I would have to agree with you on something 2P. this guy is a nut. Ricky Fields @ RHS is an awesome coach and motivator and would be a great HC if he wanted the job.

Our out of Region games this season were Brentwood High, Brentwood Academy and Gallatin. The Bulldogs in the last few seasons have not really had to travel far for games. The staff may have to look at some long distances to get the schedule full. I guess they could just play every team in Rutherford Cty twice.

Well its hard to swallow that Oakland made the finals, but they have played hard and fought to get the program turned around. The best thing about this matchup for the Rebel fans is that its at Middle Tennessee and not Freedom Field. At least at the BlueCross game the PA Annoouncer will call out the names of all the players and not just Oaklands. Can any Pat fans explain this? Your guy never announced a single kids name from an opposing team at any of the games I attended. Glad to see Middle Tennessee remains the dominant force in 5A.

Not sure that the Bulldogs didn't want to renew the series, but Gallatin only had two open games to schedule and I think they already had them filled when Smyrna called. Smyrna so far is having a tough time finding games. Possibles seem to be Cookeville and maybe Tullahoma and that would still leave three games open. The new districts with 8 teams had no trouble filling in their open spots, with only 6 teams its going to be tough to find 5 games.

I am very pleased with Coach Matt at Smyrna. Rough start to the year, but after the 1st Oakland loss the team got it together. he managed the games well, much better than I thought he would do when the hire was announced. I am still not sure about the brother at OC, I believe he should be just the O Line coach. You can't do both jobs well at the same time. As for Mrs. Vick, she is a GREAT lady.As for the future of the Bulldogs I think its very bright. They will have to do some work replacing some O line spots. But they have some BIG kids in the soph class.
