    ACL tears

I would go with what your doctor tells you and also talk to others that have had the surgery and their timeframe. Ask if they had complications. I can only tell you that by staying out 8 months helped my daughter not only rehab her knee, but work out the supporting muscle areas around the knee as well. The longer you rehab and wait the better you eliminate the re-injury factor. Make sure to check with your insurance about a machine that works your leg out while you are laying down and even sleeping. I cannot remember what it is called, but it will make your early post surgery work outs so much better. This machine raises and lowers your leg with different speed levels. Somebody will know what this machine is called.
  2. Don't know where you get your info from. The game was scheduled at LaVergne. So it is under Rutherford County Schools decision to call the game. That would be LaVergne. On Jasmine Hassell, she has been back from injury for 3 games before the scheduled LaVergne game.

    ACL tears

The information and opinions expressed by me are my experiences that worked best for my daughter's ACL. Please do your research and see what fits best for your situation. She tore her ACL last February 2008, had surgery in March, and came back in November 2008. As everyone has posted, perform your home exercises and do exactly what therapist requests. You need to research the timeframe of coming back from this injury. Most people have the notion that 6 months is the majic rehab time. My doctor's research studies show that those that come back in 4 to 6 months are 30% more likely to tear their ACL again. These latest statistics shown to me suggest 8 to 9 months as the timeframe to rehab before attempting to comeback. This will give a much lower percentage of recurring injury. It was tough for my daughter to sit out this summer for Exposure events, but now seeing her have an extra 2-1/2 months of aggressive rehab therapy, has shown a major beneficial difference in her physical and mental abilities. One of my most important learning experiences in all of this is Core Training Exercises. Trent Nessler is an Aggressive Physical Therapist at Baptist Sports Medicine. He wrote a journal with these Core Training Exercises. The exercises give support to the important areas where many injuries occur. My daughter came back faster and more agile than she was before injury last February. You can go to www.aclprogram.com to learn these exercises and the research behind them. Dr. Damon Petty performed my daughter's surgery and he is out of Baptist Hospital in Nashville. Also has 2nd office in Lebanon called TN Orthopedics. He studied under Dr. Andrews in Birmingham that treats many Pro and college athletes. I hope your child has a complete and speedy recovery.

  5. I am sure you are so connected with valid sources. Maybe one transfer will be a guard to replace the departure of the Burroughs kid. With all of the connections you seem to have about the future, you should get a job as a fortune teller at the Wilson County fair this summer. On the MJ question, you should know since you have the inside on WC transfers. Why don't you quit with the conspiracy theories and call the ole MJ ball coach about the MJ players.
  6. Are you smoking Crack with your above comments? If you knew anything about basketball you would know that stats are not the only criteria to evaluate a great player. How about carrying a team in pressure situations, have double and triple teams and still executing. Hassell has a target on her back every time she touches the floor and still puts up the numbers. Try looking past your high school stats and review that she plays for the top Nike travel team (TN Flight - Silver). Hassell has played with and against the top division 1 prospects like Maya Moore - Connecticut, Crystal Riley - LSU, Shondra Barrett - LSU, and many others. Case closed.
  7. The referee's first name is Charlie. He is the older/tall ref that always calls in the zone of the 2 other refs. WC should have closed the door on the game, so no excuses, but he should step down from the game. It has definately passed him by. Congrats Smyrna. Great 2nd half.
  8. My understanding is that it goes to a 3 way coin flip. Odd man out is the 1st seed, then the 2 remaining coaches flip again for 2nd and 3rd seed. This information is not coming from a TSSAA rule book.
  9. I do not need game tape. I have been around basketball for over 35 years. Where you were sitting and gathered information, again was 3rd party dialect. YOU did not hear players or coaches spewing this out. It seems you were so into the press clippings. Isn't it odd to you that Coach Burkey took full responsibility for his WC loss 1st time around. I did not see the same reciprication from WC in this press release. YOU are 100% correct that this should be a wake up call. Smyrna and MJ are are on the WC radar. But current calculation to date is MJ is 1-3 against WC and Smyrna. None of this matters until districts anyway, and WC will be waiting in the wings.
  10. It is funny how people always hear things thru 3rd party. Whoever you heard say this game against Shelbyville was a cake walk is insane. The WC players never underestimate any opponent. And for the record there was not 1 pass then a 3 point shot. If you watched the game you would have seen 2 girls doubling down on Hassell. Same strategy Burkey used on other big girls like Hassell in the past. The posts have to come and meet the ball on passes. To get the ball inside people have to move without the ball when the defense is playing overagressivly. That is not the WC coach's mindset to have the girls move without the ball. This philosophy is what helped contrubute to the loss. Also,The guards did have an off night shooting, but certain limitations and restraints in WC coaching mentality limits the guards from playing with all of their skills. The coach should take full blame due to letting Shelbyville get that far ahead and not make adjustments. The help side defense was nonexistent. The players only go by what the coach instructs, so it was to the great game plan of coach Burkey and play of Ceny Phelps and Shapara that was WC's demise.
  11. I disagree that WC was overconfident. WC executed very poorly in all aspects of fundamental basketball. Shelbyville came prepared and ready to play. You are correct that Coach Burkey had an excellent game plan. Coach Burkey executed WC weaknesses to the fullest tonight, but furthermore, Shapara and Ceny Phelps turned in excellent guard play on both ends tonight.
  12. I was told it was true this evening from a longtime MJ Booster.
  13. Puma and family are very excited that you received the scholarship you deserve and worked so hard for. I know it has been a tough two years, but now the pressure is off, and you can concentrate on the rest of the season and tournament time. A Spider told me that Lipscomb has great after game meals. So now you can choose something besides PIZZA.
  14. You should have sit on the WC side and only had two knees in your back, and many people who will not shut up, it is the Glade. Just having fun with you 55.
  15. What WC was fortunate about is the calls the refs made on two certain MJ players that throw high elbows and set moving picks. These refs actually called these fouls. It is now 2 games that Miller and Nixon have fouled out. Hassell has not fouled out yet this year. The reason is that she has elevated her fundamentals on footwork and how to defend, not reach and slap.
  16. I think this is also funny that you think Hassell was intimidated. Miller is a great kid, but to say that Hassell was intimidated is absurd. Do you think the reason that Hassell was in the game and Miller on the bench was due to her playing smart fundamentally. Hassell had lapses at times, but kept herself on the floor and in the game until the end.
  17. I find it kind of funny on your comments about MJ being better coached. You must be on the inside to know the details of which you speak. MJ looks to be better coached in your eyes due to them practicing mostly year round, including summer or so called strength and conditioning. If you will look into the past, talent is what brought MJ their success aka A. Clark. The same set MJ offenses and defenses are text book, but adjusting from that once the game plan goes awry is what you need to review. Lets not forget coach Sims impact on the sidelines when he was there.
  18. It took much of the strength the guards had, due to one fighting flu like symtoms and the other starting to get the bug. I was amazed that Becca Sharpe did not receive an all tournament selection. She played very well and I think deserved to be chosen.
  19. You can review the tournament info by searching the Greenbank Ladies Classic. The link may not open, but hit the default link and it will take you to the website. Below is the info I received off of it. 2007 All-Tournament Team Jasmine Hassell, Wilson Central (MVP); Nicole Dickson, Greeneville; Karissa Dyer, Upperman; Jordan Nixon, Mt. Juliet; Jordan Coleman, Lake Mary (Fla.); Caitlin House, Briarcrest; Lateira Owens, Columbia Central; Chelsea Burroughs, Wilson Central; Britt Bell, Mt. Juliet; Heather Miller, Mt. Juliet; Megan Clevenger, South Greene; Jasmine Taylor, Memphis Central; Danielle Montgomery, Tennessee High; Lasay Davis, Upperman; Jessyca Christopher, Wilson Central.
  20. You have been awful quiet there little MJ cub and beyond. Are you hibernating after seeing the outcome of the tournament and all tournament guard selections?
