  1. It has just been confirmed that Jason Larkin, former boys freshmen basketball coach for Ryan, has been named the girls head coach. It would have caused less confusion and frustration if the comittee was just going to choose a current teacher and named Larkin a long time ago, therefore "searching" wouldn't have been that hard. Nothing aganist Larkin, but so much for a high profile coach from the outside.
  2. I know that there were at least one or two current Ryan staff members in the final six candiatates. Not quite sure if one of them was offered the job yet.
  3. At the moment, someone has been offered head coach, and the person has until Monday to accept or decline the position.
  4. The girls basketball team was expected to attend the Lewisburg Lady Tigers basketball camp as they have been doing so for decades. Since the position of head coach has still not been filled, last year's assiatant coach was planning on taking the girls to camp, which they were supposed to leave this monday morning (the team has always left that sunday, but the assiant coach is in a wedding and won't return till sunday night. Thats one whole day the team is missing). Also with the assiant coach being gone since the beginning of summer vacation, there has been no oragnaized team practices to help prepare for camp. The seniors on the team took it upon themselves to make a call and have an adult present at the gym while they can practice two days this week. It was announced at the beginning of their practice today that there has been a decesion made to cancel the Lewisburg Camp. The reason being was thet they shouldn't go without a new coach who will have new ideas, stragities, and plays. The girls were also told that they should use the money for camp towards something else. This is outrageous. The girls should not be penalized for the lack of effort by "search comitee". No one kows who made the cancellation decesion, but it's not right. Three or four weeks ago, the principal himself was given the dates by the seniors on the team of when they were attending camp. He told them they should have a coach by then. This just shows how no one considered the problems that would arise upon the head basketball coach resigning. Stu, I agree with you all the way about how the male coaching staff and the football team is the number one prority over at Ryan. /dry.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="
