  1. They played Gatlinburg Pittman the first game and won, very poor offensive effort, although this ws their first scrimmage under coach Wright this team should be at a higher level than what they showed today. Both the games they played today were very low scoring .The players were unable to execute on offense, they seemed confused on who plays what position and what plays they were to run, it was a bit unorganized but again it's the beginning of the season with a new coach at the helm. South Greene came out of the gate playing over aggressive, their usual unsportsmanship like style may have cost Unaka one of their key players the rest of the season with a injury (possible ACL). The game was tied late in the second period (2 to 2) (yes that's not a typo error /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" /> ) but in the 4th period SG managed to start elbowing their way underneath to score and pulled away. I believe Unaka mustarded up a total of 8 or 10 points through 4 periods, I think SG had 38. Unaka is in for long season if today sets the course for the rest of the year but hopefully things will get better.
  2. It should be good for Cloudland they get to play at home for this game. OS is not a good atmosphere to be in.......... The fans are totally out of hand at that place, been there, no fun at all.. good luck to the Lady Landers
  3. Your Right about the victim part however that stre......tching it quiet a bit with the statement about #34, she as well as others travel from time to time but it's a funny thing that the officials in the pre season contest and during the regular season everywhere else have all just been over looking her traveling, maybe the Rangers have a little home cooking going on everywhere they play? I'm glad you have called that to Coach Chamber's attention, I guess he has missed this over the last 2 seasons and now all the games she carried the Rangers in scoring are nullified becasue she has been traveling all this time and everyone else just missed it. I wasn't aware that you attended the Ranger's games on a regular basis, I've been around for quiet a few games and yet to see a team 40pt's better than Unaka at least not the Ladies side so I guess that's what got the Boy's a state championship in 2004.......home cooking, na I don't think so. ......Cloudland cruised to victory tonight, their Team proved they wanted it and they took it to the Eagles Fair and square....... good Job Landers.....good luck in sub state.....Good Luck to the Eagles Next year..... It will be here before you know it!
  4. Petrowski is a true post player for the lady Cyclones, Fritz, Treadway are true guards as well as Culler and Jones, they play hard and are well coached and they have some depth from the bench, it will be interesting from here but they have a very good chance to advance if they stay on their game like they have been lately
  5. Lady Cyclones prevail......Good Job Ladies.....Good Luck in Sub State
  6. In all fairness not to take away any credit where it is due but having the home court support is one thing but to blatently say the Eagles are that much better than the Unaka girls , and we can't beat them in the nest, come on now let's not sling any mud toward the players, if these last 2 match ups would have been on neutral ground, the Rangers would have had the Win both times. The last Regular season match up was terrible, I would not call that mutch of a game. The Rangers played terrible but they had a lot help from the officiating(or the lack of), I'm not definite on the exact numbers but there was around 22 traveling violations alone called against the Lady Rangers, that's not right on any ball court. I've not watched the film on that game but I'm quiet sure that the majority of those calls would not hold water. The first regular season contest between these 2 teams was a 20pt win for Unaka at home ironically the Eagles won by 20 or so at their Home Court in the last regular season contest (imagine that). oh well that's the way the ball bounces (at Cosby anyway) Now we move on to the match Last Friday, again the Rangers were not up to par but one of the officials handed the eagles the game on a silver platter and they grabbed it and ran. It hurts the game as whole when an official(s) make tasteless call's that ultimately decides the outcome. Granted it was a Win but it sure wasn't a clean win. My opologies if I seem to be making excuses but a game should NEVER be decided by a single call. Both teams have one thing in common, they want to win everytime they go out on the court unfortunately only 1 team walks away with the big "W". Nobody would expect ANY TEAM to perform up to their potential when they are already beat before they go out on the court. Enough said about that, I hope that the Eagles and the Hghlanders have a great game, may the best team win, I truly hope that neither team gets the short end with the officiating, I know EVERY TEAM will make mistakes as does the officials but the Winner should never be decided with a single call especially when it's a close game. I'm picking Cloudland by 7 with this game, but good luck to the Eagles either way, Cloudland is on a roll
  7. Maybe but I believe either contest will be a good game, It's certain to be interesting either way
  8. A Fluke..... please /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" /> .......want a little cheese to go with your Whine....... A loss is a loss so deflate the Lander EGO a little, there is limited seating in most gyms so the Blue Crew might wanta leave some of it at home ...... Come back to earth I believe you are confused a bit, What Team likes to lose? I don't know of any, do you? The Lady Ranger's lost at the Landers home court by a mear 5 points from the foul line but only after the Rangers missed from the foul line in the closing seconds so they had to foul in attempts to get the ball back.......Don't think there was any cruising going on in that game they got first seed in the tournament, Ironically the Landers lost by 5 to the Rangers in the first match, give'm credit they won the second game but they are not unbeatable by any of the conference teams. I'm sure the other Teams and fans agree..... Boy the Blues Clueless crew just can't get enough of themselves....... get a Clue Crew or a life or something be more productive rather than continuing your campaign to slamm the Rangers every chance u get....... The Ranges will be around for along time, they will Win some and lose some but they will always play the game with respect and sportsmanship.
  9. Are we talking fruit or B Ball there Dad, Don't think u would be my dad either, he certainly is not from Highlander Country. Could you have a son that's a Creeker maybe? /rolleyes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="rolleyes.gif" /> sorry I couldn't respond sooner, I'm guessing the internet was so overwhelmed from all the chat of the Landers I couldn't get through /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" /> The Landers still got a ways to go to catch up with 9 straight and get a state championship so keep a tooting....You will need to toot a little louder so us Creekers can hear you from under our Rocks. There is not a coach anywhere in any sport that doesn't have to deal with parents and politics so I'm sure there is some skeletons in the Landers closet as well. There will always be disgruntled parents and Players that will stir it when they can, unfortunately no team is immune to it so please don't play that self rightous bit I wouldn't make any reservations in Memphis anytime soon, the Landers barely squeaked past the Dogs to get to the chamionship contest.... Even a blind Hog can find an acorn every once in a while ....... no doubt something will continue to pile up, don't think it will be trophies, but Good Luck to yall up there on that there mountain, you might want to descend from cloud 9 a little , what goes up must come Down......maybe the Creekers will help you Landers roll the Rocks off of you when it does. I'm not sure what interest the Blues Clueless Crew has with the Creekers and the Sports programs but it seems that they are a bit Judgemental toward Snavely, What about Bayless? he has had problems with having a winning season over the last few years, he's old school and knows how to win, as does Snavely, are they running his name into the dirt? No everyone seems to be OK with it so why can't the Blues Clueless Crew, uh I mean the Blue Crew accept it and move on......give it a rest Daddy O ZAza90
  10. I wish em well, I'll be looking for the road sign that says WELCOME TO ROAN MOUNTAIN TENNERSEEEEEEEEE HOME OF BLUE CREW REGIONAL CHAMPIONS 2007/2008 or maybe "CAUTION" YOU ARE ENTERING THE BLUE CREW ERA" or "STOP" "WATCH FOR A "FLOP" THE BLUE CREW MADE IT TO STATE......OH NO BUT WAIT ITS TOO LATE .... THE RANGER'S been there DONE THAT ......... BROUGHT HOME THE STATE TITLE.... GOOD LUCK FROM ALL US CREEKERS ....excuse me while I wipe the tears from my eyes , I'm getting all emotional, my heart along with all the other "CREEKERS" is broken we are beside ourselves, the "BLUE CREW" HAS SPOKEN........ We can't function without a top notch ball Team, what will we ever do. I Predict the "BLUE CREW" will be singing the "BLUES if they make to state, Remember: To get to State you have to go through Elzabethton.....take the scenic route, around Jason Whitten Way show them there's a new ERA sincerely, The New ERA (Elizabethton-Rangers Association) ......ENuff SAIIIIID . /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" />
  11. I agree with the good comments of both teams, each game that these two teams have matched up were exciting games and came down to the wire. Unaka has had it's share of disapointments with games they should have wrapped up in the second half but managed to let it slip away. I can't disreguard their opponets true talent but the post play for Unaka has been flat when it counts the most, B Scott combined with K Winters(22pt for Winters against the Lady Bulldogs Sat Night) should have dominated the paint but Scott was barely able to stay in for 2 minutes at a time, the second regular season match up of these 2 teams was much of the same with inconsistent post play The sluggish play on the boards from one game to the next keeps coming back to bite the Rangers. Tonights match up of the Lady Rangers and North Green was much of the same story except Winters and Scott both were not able to produce points in the paint, the 3 ball from Byers and Elsea was the only part of the Rangers offense that kept them in the game. This match remained close until North Green took it out of reach for the Rangers on the foul line. I'm not making excuses but the Rangers have been inconsistant the whole season I'm not sure but I'm guessing the Rangers only shot 50% from the Charity Stripe. Oh how wonderful it would be if they could pull it together and salvage a winning season, not much time left to get any better this season but there is true talent within this team if they want it more than the other team it can and will happen for them. Poor productivity of the Rangers on the Foul line has cost them at least a couple of games. The first regular season game against Cloudland should have been a double digit win for the Rangers but there was a slew of missed shots in the paint, and on the foul line, still they hung on for the Win. The second regualar season game against Cloudland ended up the same way except the Highlanders came out with the win from the charity stripe. Hampton continues to be a force to be reckoned with, it's always a good match up, looking foreward to the next few years when these teams meet. The Lady Bulldogs were Impressive tonight against Cloudland in the championship match but the game kinda slipped away from them in the 4th period, I really thought that Hampton was going to pull out the win but the Landers bullied them in the paint and were pretty hard to stop with the 3 ball, hats off to the Lady Landers. The bulldogs had a tough time getting their put backs to fall and the Landers were persistant with getting the rebounds. it seemed the poor officiating took the wind out of the Bulldogs sails late in the game , Cloudland prevails this time with a good win. You Know good officiating is hard to come by these days, don't see that changing around these parts until some of the officials realize they need to find other means to supplement their income after retirement. Wal mart is always hiring greeters and they probaly get free coffee along with a big discount on Hair Dye.
  12. I understood you perfectly when you refer to Lady Rangers as the least talented of the Teams. The Coach does not shoot the basketball for them or run the plays, he calls the plays and educates them on the Game along with some positive encouragement. I have watched these teams compete for the last 4 years at the middle school level and the High School Level and the talent seems to be pretty even amoung their conference so I understand you to say that the Unaka Ladies are the least talented and they are not. Hampton,Cloudland, Johnson County, and Happy Valley are right at the same level on the Ladies Side. Like I said I don't think you have any interest on the Lady Rangers side or Boys side so stop"Tooting Coach Chambers Horn. There will be talented players come and go for every team, Coaches can't do the work for them out on the court they have to want it more than the other Team's. Look what happen to the Lady Rangers last Night, the Lady Bulldogs came from behind twice to defeat the Lady Rangers, could the coaching been the problem or the Players performance? The talent seemed pretty even for both Team's The Ranger's biggest problem on the boys side is the EGO's of a few of the players and their disrespect for the other Teammates. Snavely can't fix that, it comes from "Home" so therfore until those players move on and other talent moves in it will stay the same for now because that's all he has to choose from. If you will notice the Ensor's stepped aside when all of the " 2004 STATE CHAMPIONSHIP TEAM" moved on.
  13. Don't know what committee that you are referring too but I'm pretty confident that you are sadely mistaken about the level of talent that you are referring Coach Chambers is dealing with. The Lady Rangers are VERY much talented and are at the level or maybe higher than any of their conference competition, these Girls may not always have a great game but I've seen that happen at every level of Basketball (Girls and Boys) and it does not decide the level of talent of your team (look at the Lady Vols vs LSU game), howd that happen? I'm not sure if u have any interest on the girls side of the game (nothing on you profile, why's that? seems odd :rolleyes) but I do, Coach Chambers is well respected by his players and he respects their talent and the contribution of all of his TEAM no matter what level they play at as does Mr Snavely. Their intentions are the same, To Win as most every coach I've seen wants to do. Politics most often invade the Coaches Space, that's with every Team but when it comes down to it the COACH has to be able to do what is best for his team. There seems to be too many Chief's and not enough Indians, the parents want their kid to play no matter how talented they are and some of the real talent gets left behind. Politics will always be present in every school and every Sport, you Can't blame any one Coach for the failures of a Team, the parent's and Players have to accept the Good and Bad outcomes of the Game, that' why it's referred to as a "TEAM WIN or LOSS")
  14. It appeared to me that both Team struggled in this game both Team's are very talented and can be a threat to any local team, if you look at the stats they will tell you that the key players for Unaka were not up to par, there was a ton of shots missed in the paint that would have produced a double figure win for Unaka. Coach Chambers continues to look for help from the bench and it seems to work when things are not going well on the offense. The timid post play from Unaka continues to be a problem for Team against a very strong Team in the paint. This Unaka Team can continue to build their confindence in the upcoming games with good performances from the entire team, it should help them with the next contest at the Highlander's Home Court. The officiating seemed to be very good in comparison to previous rival games, both Team's Played a physical game, control was maintained throughout the game by the officials, I thought both Team's showed good sportsmanship, I haven't heard of any locker room trashing after the game either, maybe those that were involved in the previous HV incidents have learned their lesson?
